I have a question about the ending

When Rinoa finds Squall in the desert looking place at the end of the game, she says something before she starts to cry. What is it that she said?

Its right before she hugs him, and everything turns into the field full of flowers. The camera even zooms in on her mouth and I still can't tell what she's saying:worried:
 
I don't think you'd ever really know. If you're trying to read her lips, you have to remember that what ever she's saying would have been in Japanese. I guess it's really up to your own interpretation.
 
Well the mouth would be synced to mimic Japanese words, not English. It was made in Japan after all.

So unless you can read lips and know Japanese, it'll be a tad bit difficult to decipher it. >_<

It looks like she may be mouthing "ai shiteru" which means "I love you" in Japanese. I see her mouthing the "Ai" part almost for sure, but the rest... I'm not so sure. "Ai" means "love" though, so she may just be saying "love".
 
well i think we all came to the conclusion she sais something to deal with loving him, we agree?
 
maybe she was telling him not to die yet because timber is not free from galbadia yet and it says in the contract that seeds dispatched to help rinoa's faction in not replaceable so if squall die then only selphie and zell would help them? LOL XD

Exactly! My thoughts too! Plus, she mentions how they still need to go see shooting stars together, and musing how Zone and Watts are doing...

Rinoa is very clever...
 
Hmm I was just watching it and watching her mouth move. It doesn't look like she's saying I love you (ai shiteru) to me. It looks to me like she's mouthing his name, Squall. The way her lips are positioned and they only open once. It would really only make sense because she picks him up in her arms, runs her hand over his face and then it's zoomed into her lips. I would think she'd say his name to see if he'd wake up. I think she said "Squall."
 
I always thought she was just saying I love you. It only seemed right since it is the games theme. I never read her lips or anything, it just seems like a cliche thing to say at the end of a game.
 
Yeah the only way you would really know is to ask one of the creators but that is highly unlikely to near impossible so like said its up to your imaginaton.
 
To be honest, I sort of agree with Rinoa. Although we can't know for definite, saying his name would be the most likely thing in my opinion. Plus, she does only say one syllabul...

It zooms in on her mouth at 0:47. Watch that and tell me what you think. It honestly does look like she's saying "Squall" as though she's softly saying his name to see if he'll awaken.

Wow, I forgot her mouth moved so imperceptibly. To be honest I can't be sure what she's saying, but it does look like a monosyllabic word. I'll vote Squall.
 
There is one BIG problem with assuming she is saying "Squall".
The main character's name doesn't have to be "Squall".
You can choose it yourself. Like in FFX you can chose Tidus's name and there is no even one part during which his name is being said.

And I have no idea what she is saying... if she is actually saying something.
 
LOL That's hardly a BIG problem. :lew: Just because you can change the character's name, doesn't mean she didn't say it. Why would they have her opening her mouth looking like she's saying his name if she weren't? It's not like they show subtitles in the ending FMV...lol
 
Yeah, but if she does say the main character's name, she isn't saying "Squall" anyway.
Maybe it is just some kind of mumbling which no one can understand and so it'll fit to whatever name you picked for the character.

We aren't even sure she said something... at least I am not.
It almost looks like she wanted to say something, but only moved her lips without saying it out loud.

Maybe she just says "wake up" (okte, or something like that).
Anyway, that what I thought when I have played the game.

This does make sense, except for the fact that you have the chance to change his name, I mean if you named him (plucking a name out of the air) Dave or something, and she's saying "Squall" that wouldn't work at all. And it might not be the biggest problem in the world if you change the name, but still- I'm not sure. I think I'm going round in circles with myself here.
 
Even though you can change his name, I wouldn't be surprised if they had her say "Squall," just because that's his accepted name.

But isn't Squall multiple syllables in Japanese? Pronouncing "Squall" written in katakana should take more than one syllable. I just thought about that.
