In the land of Flognun Mala, technology flourishes. The age of land and sea travel is long gone as the skies have become standard, even holding air bases above the vast oceans. The people of the land were driven to create fortresses in the sky due to the overpopulation of the land making everything become crowded. While the oceans are speckled with many islands, most of them are reserved for farm land to feed the people of the sky.

Due to the worlds burst in technology, people’s lives became easy; most jobs consist of inventing, farming, or shipping via the skies. However, the world has people within it that would much rather steal for money or technology, they sky pirates. They began to show up only a few years after the skies became the main living space. For the most part they never stop their flight at any cities, floating or not, and stay within their own fortress of a ship, save for the smaller crews. The Sky Pirates do have a strict code; one of the most apparent rules is the disallowing of people under the age of 18. A captain found breaking this code would be sentenced to death by his crew.

However, more feared than the pirates are the Sky Privateers. A Privateer was an individual for hire to protect against the sky pirates; however, there were also occasions where the pirates would hire privateers for themselves. The Privateers are a feared force because only one needs to be hired to prevent pirates from succeeding in their attacks. When no privateers are hired, most merchants and shipping companies strike a deal with the pirates, no lives taken in exchange for whatever amount of their shipments. Not all pirates honor this, though, causing Privateers to be commonly seen.

Technological advancements has not been placed on weapons, but instead on transportation and living. This is mostly due to the desire to discover what lies within the Dead Zone, an area surrounded by a powerful storm. The only way to enter the Dead Zone is by flying above the cloud line and entering it from above, however any time a machine gets close to the Dead Zone it becomes lifeless and crashes into the storm. So far, nobody has survived, and nobody has created a technology capable of entering the area. There are many rumors behind it, such as a lost civilization laying there within the eye of the storm. Many others believe a technology lost in time rests, creating the storm. The most common belief, however, is that within the storm sits a treasure that would grant the holder phenomenal magic power, enough to rule the world with an iron fist.

Many pirates and privateers dream to one day travel inside the Dead Zone for the sake of conquest, curiosity, or discovery. For now, technology is in the works to be able to enter this zone by many scientists and inventors. Many of them advance their technologies in hopes that they will be rewarded, while others invent for the sake of inventing.

Information:

Pirates: These people travel in crews, some of them have semi-decent reasons to be a pirate. They are standard people, holding slightly advanced technology and some magic powers, just like everyone else. They travel in a crew on their mighty airships of steel and iron. Their code consists of a very strict rule set that when broken is punishable by death in a most brutal manner.

Inventors: They have nearly no magical affinity which causes them to be very good with technology. They can, however, make machines that draw their magic out, making them harness magic through the technology. Their goals are to create and recreate advanced technology to push the world further. So far these people have managed to get together and create flying fortresses for people to live on, but none have made a machine that can survive the Dead Zone.

Privateers: By far the most feared people of this world are the privateers. The Privateers are extraordinarily strong and skilled people. For the most part a privateer is made through an apprenticeship program, where they are taught until a fitting age of 23, when they may go to be on their own. Most of them are for hire by whoever is willing to pay them a sufficient amount for the job, pirate or transportation alike.

Magi: Very small affinity with technology, but high in their affinity with magic makes these people great casters of magic, but what they gain in magic they lose in their ability to harness the technologies of the world.

Rules:
Follow the bio template and keep in mind your affinities. You must have at least 5-7 full sentences in your personality and double that in History.

No powerplaying, you must keep in mind your abilities.

No Godmodding, or I'll make you fall from the sky and land in the ocean so the surface tension can rip you apart.

No Metagaming, keep your characters knowledge within it's given limitations.

________________________________________

Affinity Point System:
There are 2 affinities, the Technology affinity and the magic affinity. You may use up to the amount allowed per classification, but do not need to use all the points given.

Pirates are given 14 affinity points to spread between magic and technology, but cannot pass 10 in either catagory.

Inventors are given 15 points to split, however they can only have at maximum 3 affinity in magic.

Magi are also given 15 points, however they are limited to 3 affinity in technology.

Privateers are granted a total of 17 affinity points to be divided as pleased between both magic and technology affinities, but are given a cap of 11 in each.

An affinity of 0 is not recommended, or you wouldn't be able to live in such a world, therefor, a minimum of 1 is called for.

How it works:
Firstly I would like to start by saying that this will only effect the character judging and accepting process so that I can fairly rule your character as too powerful or not, this will not effect your character during the roleplay and you may develop your characters as normal. It would even be possible to become a privateer as you play along, do keep this in mind.

Affinity works on a 1-10 basis. An affinity of 1 means they cannot use the respective category, while 10 would mean they can use the respective category quite masterfully.

When an affinity reaches above 10 they become creators rather than masters. Having an affinity of 11 or higher means that instead of using the technology or magic, the technology or magic will bow to your will rather than be used by you. The higher above 10 the affinity the faster you learn to use from the respective category.

Affinities above 10 in technology make inventors capable of developing new machines and various technologies. The higher the affinity the more efficient you become. Higher technology affinity also means better weapon usage, allowing for various machines, snippets, and gadgets to be hidden on your person. Higher affinity means greater usage.

To have an affinity above 10 in magic is to be able to create magic on the fly, with higher numbers making it easier and faster. Greatly high numbers in the affinity of magic make casting magic much less taxing.

Name: Saethos Lortalor

Age: 34

Gender: Male

Alignment: Lawful Neutral

Class: Privateer

Personality: Saethos is very serious about his work. If it means putting his life at risk to complete the job, he will. He doesn't mind who hires him for his work, but he will charge pirates a slightly higher fee for similar jobs, simply because he'd rather help those that are not doing wrong, but a job is a job. His sense of humor is rather dry, he finds a lot of things funny, but when he jokes around he sounds arrogant. In moments of need he becomes humbled and will help others, but only if he agrees with their intentions. If he doesn't need to kill, he probably won't, but he can't guarantee lives in the end. When insulted, he simply laughs with the person speaking to him.

Appearance: Saethos stands at 5'11" with shaggy brown hair. He keeps a well trimmed goatee grown on his chin. Most of the time he wears a green and white suit. Image below.
photo.jpg

Mechanical body parts: None

Technology Affinity: 9

Magic Affinity: 8

Weapon(s):
Hidden within his green coat is a gun referred to as the Blunderbuss. Appearance.

His melee weapon is a halberd made for piercing sheet metal and is very effective at it. When he needs to, he can split the handle in half and use the empty half to combine it with the rear half of the blade, effectilve giving him 2 half sized weapons to use for more speed and area control. Apperance

Gadgets:
Saethos carries very small tinker spiders that are capable of crawling into small spaces and making tweaks to small parts of a machine, good or bad. In addition, they are also capable of soldering small tasks. These are non-magnetic, battery powered, and remote activated machines that, when idle, are balled up to fit in a small pocket. He carries them in a pouch on his belt. The purple gem on his hat is the remote on/off switch as well. If he doesn't pre-set a list of commands, he has to coordinate the spiders by wearing his control gloves and goggles. Each glove controls just 1 spider, so at most he can control 2, but he always carries 3. When they finish their task they either power down or retreat to the tracker implemented into the on'off switch.

Saethos also brings his personal glider from task to task. It's not made for flying, instead it's a glider than can go some very far distances, especially with a favorable wind. He keeps it parked within the ship of his job host.
Appearance.

Magic:
Saethos can catch magic spells and "throw" them wherever he so pleases. The amount of energy drained upon using this is equivalent to 120% the energy the energy used by the original caster. He can only "hold" a spell in his hands for a maximum of 4 seconds.

His only other magic is the ability to imbue his halberd or weapon at the moment with fire so that on impact, it creates fire and burns the surface. Each blow that creates the fire drains a small amount of energy, causing it to be very taxing over time. He can turn the embument on and off between each hit without energy cost.

Talents:
Saethos is an excellent cook since he doesn't trust the cooks for his various jobs after a few unpleasant experiences.

History: When Saethos was 12, a famous and feared privateer came through his floating home city. Most people had locked themselves away out of fear of what he might do, as it was well known this man had brought down entire pirate crews before. Being the naive young boy Saethos was, he ran up to the man and playfully threatened him. This man revealed his name to be Virgil and asked Saethos to take him to Saethos' family. Reluctantly, they let him in their home, where Virgil said he liked the boys attitude and offered to make Saethos his apprentice. The family agreed, mostly out of fear, but never the less, Saethos began his training as a privateer.

Throughout his training, Saethos heard many tales of the Dead Zone from many sources, filling his mind with curiosity. Upon hearing that there could have been an item that could grant the power to rule the world, he was pretty scared for the future of mankind. In the back of his mind he didn't really believe that there could be such a power given the privateers, but he still worried.

At the age of 23 Saethos was graduated into a full fledged solo privateer and began jobs immediately. He did a wonderful job of living up to the privateer reputation of being a frightening source of power for hire. Most of his jobs consisted of fighting off pirates, but on occasions he was hired by pirates to help take down very stubborn targets. The rumors about the Dead Zone still echoed through each and every task, and he hoped that one day he could see the inside of it for himself. He would tell himself it was to discover what lay inside such a mysterious area, but deep down he knew it was to get the power to rule the world so that it couldn't get into the wrong hands.

Name: Lana Dove

Age: 19

Gender: Female

Alignment: Chaotic Neutral

Class: Inventor

Personality: Lana is an independent, free-spirited being. She listens to her own heart above all else and refuses to accept anything unseen with her own two eyes. She's bold and often creative in her suggestions. She loves to focus on the excitement of the moment, and often tries to include other people in her various shenanigans. She trusts her family and friends and can be pretty respectful to them. However she is less aware of her behavior around strangers can can be seen as rude or stubborn(an accurate depiction in rare cases). Overall Lana prefers to live her life to the fullest and tries to do her best in order to make sure others participate in that enjoyment.

Appearance:

Mechanical body parts:

Left Eye - She'd been blinded in her eye at a young age. She improved upon it in her later teen years, fashioning mechanical bodypart like a pro at the time. She fixed her eye's vision, and gave it the ability to zoom and magnify up to 150 meters. However the eye cannot really function well through normal use as it messes with her depth perception despite allowing her to see clearly. It is because of this that she wears an eye patch.

Technology Affinity: 12

Magic Affinity: 3

Weapon(s):

  • Berserker Gauntlets - A tweaked invention of her old mentor's these gauntlets are close up melee weapons that fit well over a woman's medium sized hands. They lock in place upon being fitted and are 5 times larger than normal gloves. They are made of an old enchanted material which allows the gloves to harden upon impact. Lana's minor tweaks gave the gloves two sharp spikes near the knuckles and the ability to rocket off of her hands(while still attached via thin durable wires that retract them once they detach). She can punch in the gloves without her hands or lower forearm feeling a thing. The glove metal is nearly indestructible. Lana usually stores these gloves in a sack she wears slung on her back.
  • Letuma - A 2 1/2 meter long semi automatic rifle that has been tweaked and tampered with for nearly 7 years. Once a very powerful bolt-action rifle held b y her father, Lana has turned it unto her default hunting machine. Using parts from only the latest technologies Lana constantly customizes this gun to her liking. The scope can zoom up to 200 meters away, combining to 350 meters with her eye. She does not have to worry about bullet drop distance due to the sheer incredible fire power. The rifle comes equipped with a heavily guarded arm/shoulder pad along with a retractable, floor mountable, bipod(comes with a nail gun/remover to plant the bipod firmly on the ground). The rifle fires up to 10 shots in a row and uses a renewable explosive ammo created by another invention of Lana's that converts sunlight energy into an energy source to fuse within her chemically filled bullet shells. Without sunlight her ammo losses it's explosive characteristic.

Gadgets:

Scanner - A bit sized device that can be thrown into a dark location. Lana's eye can pick up images behind walls and other obstacles that are within 10 feet of the scanning device. This is particularly useful in dark areas.

Tool Belt - Just a belt she uses to carry all of her gadgets. It is a gadget in itself in the way it allows for storage the size of a trunk in it's deep pockets(due to a longstanding enhancement charm).

Gravitational Gernades

Gravity boots

Now hurry and finish them! :rage:

Lemme know when you're done ^_^

Are there any other creautres in this story or just humans? I wanna put up a variant of an older girl x younger guy relationship/friendship dynamic to test on.

It would depend on the race you had in mind. For the most part, everything is, in the very least, humanoid. I'll allow it, but I'd need a history of the race, but seeing your work I trust you can handle that.

I may use a beast-like creature/tiger hunter thing while the girl is a 3000 year old human cursed by something living together and hunting bounties together since he was 14 (he is now 21 and she is 3024). Since I dont know the rating, I may put their relationship as close to what the RP's guidance rating is without mature themes. (Original outline normally has him calling her a muse and loves to give her trophies of his kills or draw her naked :B in their character outline and often jokes/references this about this habit to him in the RP), I will read the RP further before I tweak it to settings.

Due to the nature of the world we're set in, I think 3000 years might be pushing it a bit. Make it around 2000, 2500 max, and then it would work provided a decent explanation is given as to how she managed to survive that long.

No probs I can tweak a lot of shit! she might even be younger in my final draft! I just wanna know if their relationship thing is a little too edgy or acceptable for the RP's setting? xP

We're talking bloodthirsty pirates, who love to drink and party, I highly doubt you can possibly make it worse :wacky:

I'm talking about a hunter who draws his companion/sisterfigure/elder friend nude when not hunting or gives her trophies of his targets! (trinkets if he's got no choice but to take them alive, or a bone if he is allowed to kill!) I wanna know if this is alright x(

It's fine as long as iages aren't given, forum rules and such.

She's 2000+!! if thats a minor then I dont know what is! XDDDDDDDD I shall keep that to mind! the tiger/hunter is 21.

Not so much about being a minor as it is that there's no adult content allowed on the forum as far as I know :lew:

OH! No lmaoooo!! its only referenced and joked at by her when they interact later depending on story, and it will just be written in their background story. There will be no actual depections rofl thats crazy!!!

I was just sayin c[: Any hints and jokes are welcome, I love some good humor in roleplays, keeps it fun to read.
