A couple weeks ago, a friend of mine expressed an interest in forum roleplay and asked me to give her some advice. What came out of it was me on Skype effectively teaching it classroom style. While I had expected it to last maybe an hour long and just go over the bare minimum I ended up spending about 2 hours on just an overview of the generic parts of the character bio. Even now, I'm just about to start on the basic rules of forum roleplay and this is I think the third 'class', for lack of a better word, and there's still so much left to do.

It was when she said at the end of it, 'You know, you're really good at teaching," that I realized that maybe I had that talent for it and that possibly there are others on here who want to join but can't for some reason or another. Maybe they just don't really understand how forum roleplays work or they might feel wholly outclassed by some of our more prolific rpers like Tipsy or Ringo. Whatever the case, I thought I might see what people think about having a class/tutorial on roleplays so that newcomers can be able to get a handle on it easily.

So what do the veteran rpers think about it and also, perhaps anyone interested in RPing who would want to give it a shot?

I honestly feel that'd bea great idea. It'd hopefully help the RP area grow on the Forum, and maybe improve any standards that might need it in the forum section. Then again, methods may differ.

Of course, a general knowledge would help nevertheless. Best thing about roleplay is the creativity- at least that's my take on it.

Still, I doubt my opinions will generally matter, however much of a "Veteran" of roleplaying I am from other roleplay sites, I'm still relatively new around here. Anyway, I'd be willing to lend a hand with something like this if you'd need it.

I would love this, I also want to get into rp'ing proper but it hard to learn when your new, so a guide or something to help me get started would be like an awesome idea :) I think it might even help get the rp section of the forum active again

I've been meaning to get my own tech RP thought with .Mosh off the ground, but it would be great to hear something nice or learn something nice from a veteran RPer and how to escalate the story in terms of drama. This I promise to deliver once my issues IRL clears out this month.

You already know my opinion on this, of course. :lew: but i really think you and some of the more experienced RPers on here know quite a bit and could really help those of us with some interest but no idea how to begin being in an RP.

On the forum I RP often on has something just like this. I will say that while it's a great idea and it has a great start, it eventually dies down. I say this for two reasons.

The first reason being that real life catches up to those who lend their services to help the new rpers or those who don't have enough experience or knowledge of how to correctly utilize rping mechanics. There are other sub-reasons that follow. but I believe this reason has been explained.

The second reason being that not enough people take part in it and eventually, like I stated, dies out. Though, even with two or three dedicated "teachers" or "instructors", I believe this could really benefit a lot of people.

I'm not going to say I will volunteer myself, but if not enough people sign up, I'll lend my services as a part-time instructor or whatever you're gonna call it.

With all this being said, this is a great idea, and I support it. :monster:
