(Interest Check/SU/D) SFR: The Age of Reconquista

Dragon King: Could you elaborate more on your magic abilities, cause saying some magic makes it seem a bit too broad to use. So until that is resolved, your bio is denied.

ok. i have finished my character. A few thing you should know.

I made a lot of shit up in the history, so there is gonna be a ton of potential inconsistency with the history and terminology that you have in mind. Correct me where needed.

And two. I realised half way through the history that was was being too long winded so the second half is rather more succinct and may appear more slapdash. So apologies there.

Dragon King: Your bio is up to par, you're accepted into the RP.
Tipsynaruto: And that's the beauty of creating things in a new world, building up the history is something that will only come together with time. Your bio is brilliant done well, better than I could've done, and besides I do plan on creating a Knightly order down the road, but it would not be till later. In any case, your bio is accepted.

I will begin the RP on Friday, July 27. This will begin the RP storyline.

Ooh, now that I look at the first post, I realize that most of our characters are rather isolated from each other. While on that note, I'd like to find out if any open conflicts has begun. I presume political tensions is inevitable, but has the sides clashed yet?

I'm looking to find someone to interact with. If anyone's keen.

Currently, there is no conflict between opposing factions yet. The majority of the Vestinian Kingdoms in Hipsania (Castilla, Jaca, Biscaria and Corunna) are ruled by a single family, the House of Ximena, whereas Gerona and Valira are both ruled by the House of the same name.

There is however infighting in both the Taifas and the Vestinian Kingdoms:

-Castilla has a succession dispute between Ferdinando and Raul III, both of them brothers, and both fighting for both the Castillian throne, and the Leonmeccanian throne, of which was a part of Ferdinando's domain.

-Jaca and Biscaria, ruled by brothers Ramiro I and Sancho III respectively, are also in conflict, as Jaca seeks to enlarge his lands at the expense of both the Taifa's and the Kokonids. Along for the ride is a cordial alliance with the Taifa of Izquierda, as well as various Shiekhdoms within Izquierda's lands. Biscaria has support however from Raul I, the pretender to the Castillan-Leonmeccanian throne

-Finally, there is the conflict in Gerona and Valira, largely on nobles dissatified with the ruling counts. Because of the threat of Aquitania, who seeks to impose their control on their long lost Geronian provinces, the rebellious nobles are looking to the Aquitanian Duke to do just that, despite the Gallican King refusing to involve itself in a matter of its vassals.

Aha. I'm still rather confused, but I think I'll leverage on that and show that in my character. Having led a sheltered life, she wouldn't have to know much about the political inner workings.

I can try to clarify the full details via PM if you like, I just tried to go with a more concise version.

Gallica appears on the outside as a neutral party. Although its controls both Toulousa and Aquitania de jure (by law), de facto they were practically independent powers rivaling even that of Gallica. Despite Aquitania working to regain control of long lost provinces, Gallica's role, albeit more subtle, would be to back Gerona and Valira and as we modern people would say, prevent a total SNAFU.

Hmm.. if kevin doesnt mind, ill set up an usurper/ shit stirrer from Aquitania, assisting the Geronans.

It is finished! I sahll delete the older post

Name:

Lord Luis Garcia de la Vega

Age:

29

Race:
Human

Gender:

Male

Faction:
Lord in Aquitania, but conspiring with Gerona

Appearance:

Severus.jpg

Luis is a thin and pallid man of rather tall height. He is 190 cm in height, but is notably more thin than most of the same height. He is still proportionate, however a bit emaciated. Most would call him somewhat wiry, but his shoulders were angular and rather broad. As all of the inhabitants of the world, Luis isnt weak like a scholar. He had earned some of his position through military, although a large portion of it came from political machination. As a result, Luis is thin in terms of muscles, but not to the point where he is unable to defend himself rather well from attackers.

His eyes are black and rather deep set, with angular and somewhat heavy eyebrows. They are neatly trimmed, but its black colour means it contrasts obviously against his pale skin. He, has bags under his eyes. Most of the time, it is light, but can be rather pronounced when he lacks sleep. His nose is straight and pointy and his naison is rather raised, further emphasising his deep set eyes. Luis' lips are similarly pale like his skin, and is tight lipped and drawn. Altogether, his angular eyebrows and drawn lips give him an appearance of constant dissatisfaction. His hair is long and wavy, reaching above his shoulder in a loose middle split. His entire appearance plus clothing makes him appear sullen, cold, calculating, cavalier and harsh. Despite all that, his presence commands respect (and fear of the same level), exuding gravitas, control and authority. His authority on most people comes from tyrannical fear, but those that can hold their ground in terms of power and pull give him his due genuine respect.

Attire:

Luis has a penchant for dressing in dark clothing, preferably black. His attire is usually long, black, flowing robes on top of a black outfit. He wears a white puffed shirt at the bottom, with a black vest and black cravat, whilst on top is a middle buttoned long sleeved formal jacket that is straight collared. This jacket flares out loosely as it passes the waist. He wears straight black pants with leather black shoes whilst a black long mantle is draped over his shoulder, covering his arms down to his ankle.

Unlike many of the other lords, Luis does not wear bulky, full body encasing plated armour. His lean figure and less impressive physical strength meant he much prefers lighter armour like those worn by cuirassiers. His armour is unique in that it has a hint of exotic taste to it and is mostly black or dark metal grey. He wears a formal black dress tunic and pants with high black leather boots. On his dress tunic, on the shoulders, he has epaulets with black tassels.

Chest: A cuirass designed to deflect projectiles with its pigeon breasted convex surface. Can be rather effective against sword strikes and lance thrusts.

Gauntlets: On his arms are a pair of white, leather, cavalry gauntlets reinforced with chainmail that protects his forearm and his hand. His fingers and top of palm are covered with small metal strips as to allow for better protection.

Faulds: His waist faulds protect his outer thighs from waist down to just above the knee and the back of his buttocks. Like his spaulders, it consist of three overlapping plate pieces that are dark metal grey.

Tassets: To protect the front of his thighs, he has two small tasset hanging from his cuirass

Jackboots: His legs and shin are covered with a pair of jackboots. Reinforced with chainmail on the inside, protecting his feet, leg, shin and knee.

Helmet (left side, all dark grey metal or black with the hair being black and gold detailing): The helmet is an open helm, with long horse hair as its plume at the top of the crest with a peak to cover his eyes from the sun. As a chin strap, the helmet has a thick metal chin scale made to protect his face from sword strikes (kind of like the british cavalry helmets).

All of this is topped off with a long black cape that he can wrap around his entire body if he so desires. To protect his genitals, Luis has an internal cod piece.

Personality:
Luis is a rather ambitious man. Cold, calculating, rather sarcastic and cynical. His prime concern is himself. Manipulative to the highest degree, Luis is quite capable of using and tricking people into doing his bidding without the slightest hint of remorse or regret. Due to his skill at politics and mind games, Luis is also in control of his emotions, able to conceal what he is thinking and his emotions. This makes him appear collected and calm, which is works well with him being rather cerebral. As a nobloe of high birth and from a line of royalty, Luis also has a haughty and snobbish attitude that is done in a rather aristocratic, eloquent and slightly subtle way. As stated above, Luis carries with him and air of weight, power, authority and fear. He holds people through fear and intimidation as much as he does with his charisma. As much as he scares others, other ambitious people do follow him and he is effective and efficient at what he does. If not, he would not be able to retain his post. As a result, people do come to him looking for alliances, though most do it with a spoon of wariness.

Job/Class:
Lord.

Weapons:
Luis possesses two primary weapon and a dagger for his use. One is a longsword in which he uses as his primary weapon. The second is a bow and arrow for horseback archery and the last is a back up dagger.

Barrenwane:

A nice blade of sturdy make. Barrenwane is a long sabre of about a meter in length. The sword was designed for mounted combat and its weight is balanced well for single handed combat. Appearance wise, it is quite a guady sword with a dragon motif and hand guard. However, the blade itself is a nice shiny black, like obsidian except with a very shiny finish. It is sheathed on his left waist.

Bow and quiver:
A recurve bow of about a 110 cm in length. Made from the best yew and silk by the most skilled craftsmen, this bow can match and potentially out shoot longbows used by ground archers. With a pull strength of 60 kg needed to draw its maximum draw, Luis can shoot at the very least 350 meters with reasonable accuracy given time to aim. His quiver was made from hard leather that is intricately designed, capable of holding 20 when completely loaded before it becomes difficult to draw arrows smoothly. The arrows used are often specially made with obsidian heads, though Luis is not below in using any that are available. The quiver is slung across his back, pointing right. When his bow is not in use when traveling, it is wrapped up and slung across his back as well. When in stand by, it is looped over his chest.

Lortharl:
Lortharl is a blade 55 cm in length. It is short and broad with a pointed tip, which allows for slashing, hacking and stabbing. Along the blade, it has scripture engraved onto its side. Although it is another blade of fine make, it is on a lower level in comparison to Barrenwane and Luis' unnamed bow. It is clipped onto the back of his waist, sitting vertically on a swivel point so that it can be drawn left handed or right.

Abilities:

Archery:
One thing Luis is well known for is his impressive archery skill. Amongst the Aquitanian population, there are only a single handful of people that can be considered an equal to Luis accuracy. He has a preference for archery rather than melee, not because he is a coward, but because of the skill and gracefulness of shooting and taking down an enemy. Luis is able to pick off targets with ease from at least 250 meters away with very little aim time. When this distance is reduced to 150 meters, he is even able to maintain the small aim time and target armour weak spots and specific points of a person. While it is true his leaner build means he is a lesser swordsmen than others, he possesses ample strength in his arm to shoot his bow with ease at at least 3/4 pull in an instant and even shoot and fight in close range. Somewhat more unusual, Luis is even able to use his arrows as stabbing weapons, due to his quick reflexes and good hand eye coordination.

Horse Riding:
Luis is also an excellent horse rider, capable of controlling his mount without arms, which is handy when he is shooting with his bow. He can maneuver any mount with ease, even in rough terrains and in chaotic combat situations. One reason why he also likes mounted fighting is that the momentum and added height of a horse makes melee combat more easy for him.

Heightened sense:
This is something he has told no one as it has no obvious sign externally. Luis is able to enter into a state of concentration that heighten one's sense so that it appears that the world has slowed down and that he is more perceptive in all his senses. In actual fact, it is really he himself that has sped up. While most sessions only last for a mere few seconds, such as when taking extreme long shots or when needing to dodge or land strikes in melee combat, it does strain him more than usual. Therefore, Luis uses it sparingly unless he has to.

Story:
Coming from a long line of royalty and nobles, Luis was born and raised in an environment where he had everything. Education, money, clothes, toys, money and servants. He had them all. However, whilst he did revel in the material wealth his family bought, Luis much preferred the joy of holding power. His first experience stemmed from his control of his servants. He was able to tell them to do anything he want. He was sensible about it and rather than be overly demanding and acting spoiled, the young noble played mind games. Acting beyond his age, Luis reveled in cornering and pushing people to do his bidding subtly. He had his servants and teachers controlled and eating out of his hands not too long afterwards. As he grew older, this spread onwards into the town. As a teenager, during time not taken by lessons and military training, Luis controlled the town with his famiglia, clashing with the other gangs. As the rich aristocratic, he easily won over the townsfolk in contrast to the street urchins, becoming something like the friendly neighbourhood gang. It was just another one of his manipulative ploys. He really couldn't care for the townsfolk, but he felt a sense of exhilaration when people move as he intended them to. What he couldn't wait for was his ascension into the political world. There, he believed he can excel and satisfy his desire for power the best.

Unfortunately for Luis, rather than going straight into the political world, his father instead sent him into the military for a short stint. It was an experience he would forever remember bitterly. Whilst he excelled at leading and brought honour and glory to himself and the country, the power he had over the soldiers were just not satisfying. It was just given to him directly and the nuance of the process was just not present. The few rare positives Luis felt that he got out from the military is his own loyal soldiers and the reputation and prestige he earned from his achievements. During the conflict, his mounted regiment broke countless lines and enemy formation through versatility, discipline, skill and armaments. Ranging from light to heavy as well as each rider being capable of archery, swordsmenship and use of long weapons, the pure efficiency, deadliness and ruthless command of Luis made the 5th Cavalry Regmient a force to be feared, even within Aquitania's own army. His famous and reputed mounted regiment follow him without hesitation and his cold, calculating methods have earned him the image of someone who is not to be trifled with.

Once his stint in the army was over, Luis' father allowed him to join the court through his own rank and achievements. It was all the more satisfying, earning his way. Starting off as a mere Baronet, Luis soon shot through to a Margrave via machination and work. Whilst he did excellent work, he also played cloak and dagger games to his best of abilities as well as manipulation of lesser people, regardless of rank. Despite his lower rank than some of the people in court, the feeble minded and weak ones cower from him and those equal give him proper respect and avoid direct confrontation. While all this power was fine and dandy, Luis wanted more. He wanted to try the highest form of power. He wanted to try and stir up some trouble and if things fall positively his way, then all the better. If not, then he would have enjoyed the process. All that mattered was the process and not get caught. It was all a high stakes game to him, one where he knew close to all the tricks and rules in the book. With that in mind, Luis set into motions plans that would cause chaos and strife amongst the Hispanian Valeria, Gerona and Aquitanian region.

Ah, he's perfect for the role of troublemaker, I like the guy already Tipsy. He is accepted.

On a related note, Damon got me into Carnival Phantasm...I hope this doesn't lead to an RP there. God it's so funny. :lolwhack:

Lol, that new character there looks suspiciously like Severus Snape.

Name: Sylvie
Age: 17
Race: Human
Gender: Female
Faction: Kokonid Taifa - Izquierda
Appearance: http://zotaku.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/16071203.jpg

Personality: Sylvie is a self reliant girl who has devoted herself to discipline and hard work, this leaves her difficult to speak to in a casual setting as well as having little knowledge of her own in regards to casual customs. She does not anger easily and can come down ruthlessly if any can manage to do so. Treating her unit as something close to family she does not take well to betrayal or deliberately striking at them.

Job/Class: Warrior-Geomancer-Monk
Weapons: Sylvie uses a magic ring that can summon any weapon type she requires, though general weight and size limits apply, as well as this she uses her bare hands and feet.

Abilities:
Sylvie’s magic ring is able to summon any weapon or shield that she can think of, due to her petite build she has greater difficulty with heavier weapons.

Sylvie is able to control the earth and the air as well as any environment she stands in and can manipulate it to whatever needs are required.

Using her hand to hand training, Sylvie is capable of defeating opponents far larger than herself with lighter precise strikes over overpowering her opponent, using this technique she can also aid the body’s natural healing ability temporarily and help to remove poisons and toxins that linger.

Story: Since her initial introduction to education Sylvie was put through training in the martial arts, strategy, charisma and stamina training. She was to be shaped into a soldier like the rest of her family, being connected very closely to the politics of the country meant they required a tight leverage by supplying strong soldiers to keep their importance high. Being specifically groomed to this from a young age she ended up surpassing her classmates, leading to her being shunned and isolated by her peers. Maintaining her composure she did not let this affect her and continued to achieve her highest.

Upon her graduation Sylvie was immediately enlisted in the military, given a magic ring from her father with his blessing she tried to familiarise herself to the soldiers around her, hoping her family taught charisma could help to cushion her into the fold of the higher ranking military so that she could bring pride to her family. Making a few swift climbs up the ladder brought inner strength to her, when she finally had command of her own unit she began to prepare herself for one thing that she hadn’t had the chance to use in real situations… Her leadership.
