K, before I ask there are a couple of things worth noting.

For starters I have a crappy quality TV. I mean, the thing was created in the mid-90s before wide-screen was even popular, I think it's about 30 inches in width and every time I play a game on the 360 the screen's blurry, the graphics aren't view as best as they could be and on some games (Like Mass Effect 2) I can't even read the text on the screen.

I don't care about online gaming in the slightest.

I intend to keep my PS2 for playing both my PS2 and PS1 games so the PS3 doesn't need to have the ability to play the old games from the previous systems.

Now with that out of the way I want to ask, would buying a PS3 be worth the money?

Taking all tht into consideration id hav to say to get the system tht has what games you want to play. A lot of them are exclusive to only one. Personally id go with the ps3 jus bc it does everything. Like the droid I'm on lol

Yes. End of discussion. j/k

It is well worth it even if you do have a bad SDTV, however I would recommend you upgrade if you do decide to buy one. Even if you don't care about online gaming, it is recommended to still sign up on PSN though since you can get access to the PS Store and buy all sorts of stuff for your PS3 like PS1 games, PS3 demos, DLC, etc. And who knows even if you don't care about online gaming now, who is to say you won't care in the future? Any more questions?

That depends, are there any exclusives on the PS3 you would like to play? If the answer is no then you're probably better off just sticking with your 360. Though I still would recommend the PS3 for the Blu-ray capability if nothing else but to enjoy that you're going to want to upgrade that tv of yours. And even if you don't do it for Blu-ray you may want to to solve that reading problem.

I have one of those TVs too and the graphics are pretty decent. I'm sure they would look better on other TVs but I'm not one of the types to just buy a game based on graphics...PS3 Has alot of cool features and if you have Wifi or if your neighbor does :awesome: then it's even better. It's browser online will crash alot but I find the Ps3 enjoyable still. ^_^

Video game wise, Metal Gear Solid 4 would probably be the first game I get for such a console. There's another exclusive I'd like to try out too, played a demo of it at Target one time, can't remember the name but it starred a bald guy who could shoot out energy or something I think. It was very cool!

PSN is still free right? I heard it was free. It was used as a debating tool against XBOXLIVE many times.

Yea PSN is free, PShome is free blah. Is the videogame you're talking about Infamous? I dunno if that game is exculsive or not but I played it. Uncharted 2 is nice too...

Yes PSN is still free. A smart idea would be to download a bunch of demos once you get your account set up so that way you will know what games you wish to buy in the future. While Blu-Ray is nice, I wouldn't recommend it for your TV though.

I'd recommend it, it's a fantastic console and my personal preference this generation. If you can get your hands on a HDTV and a HDMI cable as well, then your experience will sky-rocket. I has the widest choice this generation as far as games go, so you're bound to find something you enjoy.

Small note, though only the 60GB models of the PS3 are capable of playing PS2 games, all models can run PS1 games, so I would recommend using it to play PS1 games as well so that way you don't have to juggle around memory cards, due to the PS3's internal hard-drive.

1. If you already have a XBox 360, I wouldn't get a PS3. But if the PS2 is your best system, read 2.

2. PS3 will probably beat PS2 even on a poor TV. The characters tend to look a lot better because of game effects they couldn't use on the PS2, if we're talking the comparison between native PS2 games and native PS3 games. Also the PS3 is an up-to-date system, so (a lot more) games are still being made for it.

At one time I would agree with this statement. However now that a few years have passed since the consoles came out and the PS3 has gotten more attention from different companies, just going based off exclusives, I would say that the PS3 is well worth the purchase, even if you just want to buy the PS3 exclusives.

I say the PS3 is definitely worth it even if you don't have an HDTV. My favorite thing about it is I can play Japanese games that aren't coming out in the US on it because they're all region free!

Plus I do really like the games regardless of weather the tv I have is HD or not. You could always get the HDTV later if you feel you still need it. It's really expensive though but if you have the money to spend on it, well from my experience I am definitely glad that I have it

Yeah, that's the one. And is only for the PS3 I checked. Whoa, it already has a sequel planned to come out next year which is also only for the PS3. Man it feels like only yesterday I was playing the first one's demo o.o

The Playstation 3 is definitely worth getting because as mentioned earlier, you can download free demos from the Playstation Network as well as buy games from it. Some games are exclusively made for a specific console and some of them are not. It all depends on what type of games you like to play.

Thanks for the info, everybody.

Unfortunately it's going to be a while before I can even afford a PS3 =/

id skip the ps3 for a while since you already have a 360 and get a new TV first. You can get a 32 inch HD for like 300, and with Black Friday coming up you can really snag a good deal there.

Eeh, sorry but I refuse to do any shopping on Black Friday, don't care how low prices for items are. Too many people, too many bad things and knowing my luck I would be trample by over 100 people trying to snag the first thing they see and get the hell out =X

Being the owner of both an Xbawx 360 and a ps3...Yes, it is. I have both on two seperate TV's in our house (both are Philips HDtv's except the 'bawx is on the smaller of the two tv's which I think is a 22 inch in my room, the ps3 is on our 32 inch in the living room) and both are attached with HDMI cables (saved the monster cable for the ps3 even though a cable is a cable, it must be a psychological thing to think the monster is the better of the two, but meh) and graphically speaking, I can easily tell the difference between the two. The ps3 knocks my socks off every time I start it up, the picture is so crisp.

Really, when I think about buying a console I think about titles and the capabilities of the console itself. What titles that are released for the ps3 that you can see yourself playing quite frequently??? The Xbawx is alright as far as what it can do, but the ps3 does more. You get to use the playstation network FOR FREE to do online gaming (with the exception of some titles, I believe. I however have not run into one myself), so you don't have to pay more Microsoft royalties to be able to have a good online game. The ps3 plays blue rays and the picture paired with the right TV and cable are again, wonderful. Ohh yeah and you can browse the net for free and get Netflix movies streamed if you are a member.

So it sounds like you would really need a better tv to really get into some of the qualities of the ps3. If you don't care about picture and just want to play the games, get it now. If you plan on using it more for movie purposes wait until you can upgrade your tv. If you have the money or an empty Christmas list, scoop up or put a HDtv on your list. They are more reasonable now during Christmas it seems than any other time during the year.
