Is this it?? Were there enough fan reactions that finally woke the team up and decided to create a long awaited sequel??

While reading the Dissidia Wiki, I came across this,
"Tetsuya Nomura has stated that there are no immediate plans for a sequel to Dissidia, although it was discussed. However, depending on fan requests and the success of the first game, this may change in the future. According to an interview between Takashi Arakawa and Yoshinori Kitase (director, writer, and producer) with a German gaming site, Kitase stated that a sequel would be ‘very interesting’, and might even include Kingdom Hearts characters, although it would still have to be discussed with Disney. Nomura has said that a potential sequel would include Kain Highwind, Gilgamesh and Sazh Katzroy representing Final Fantasy XIII, but would not include Kingdom Hearts characters.
  • In a recent interview, Nomura has stated that he will "do his best" to create a sequel to Dissidia due to fan reactions."
Is this it? Do we finally get the sequel we all desire and want? Are there any more hints and leaks that says another round of Light vs Darkness will be coming our way? Can we use this thread as an official rumor/speculation thread?

Do you have any idea how long fans of Final Fantasy VII wanted a remake, and how long the fans have been asking for one, despite some of the developers themselves wanting to do it? I think you're reading way too much into it. Just because Nomura wants to do it, doesn't mean it will happen, at least not yet.

Although I like the idea, this is way too soon is even consider a possibility.

Not to make waves there Snake but l thinks the guy was on about a Dissidia sequel?

Any kind of material that involves a Dissidia sequel is gold to me I loved that little game and was the kick in the pants FF needed, it gave the fans something decent from the series for a change....after the disaster of FFXII.....and the in between time before FFXIII was released.

Pretty sure Snake was using the FFVII remake as an example of a FF game where there was demand from fans and Nomura has stated that he "wanted" to do it, but it's never happened--which is where this supposed Dissidia sequel is at as well.

But I think we'll see a Dissidia 2 before we see a FFVII remake. After all, one is a fighting game that could easily be expanded upon and tweaked to refine into a sequel, and the other is a game that already exists, but people just want remade--which would be a huge project considering the scope of the original version.

Plus, I think I read on the Wiki page for Dissidia that there were characters from XIII that they originally wanted to include but didn't because they didn't want to spoil anything XIII-related before its release.

Anyway, I'd love to see another Dissidia. It's got a very unique system for a fighting game, and has characters that we all know and love. I'd be pumped about an expanded roster that would maybe include more than two characters from each game of the franchise. I'm not sure how keen I'd be on Kingdom Hearts characters, though...

It doesnt read that way to me West.....But were not here to talk about that.

It makes sense to not want to ruin the details of an impending release (FFXIII)
With out knowing the motivation of the FFXIII characters it would have made there inclusion a little weak and built up pre-release byass against who ever they included inthe game?

Edit:

which is where this supposed Dissidia sequel is at as well.

I dont think thats the way it would go down? Dissidia was not released clandestine like it was just developed and released as a regulr game that just happened not to be a regular game.

A FFVIII would be a top secret project S-E would guard closely? There is no mention of FFVII in the OP's 1st nor is there any mention by Big Boss of the 2 games supposed release being analogous.

I could'nt help myself :)

I'm just thinking, is it wrong to maybe "read too much into..." the stuff? I'm just excited since Dissidia IS the game we've all been waiting for, Ergheiz didn't make it the cut. Yeah, a FFVII remake would be great, but there are no news nonetheless. This little rumor/speculation could lead to something and I'm guessing the demand for a sequel wouldn't be left unheard. Who knows, maybe they're saving it up for E3. Sony director Jack Treton [sp.check] said that they'll blow everything out on E3 so maybe a Dissidia sequel will be announced? Cuz I was caught off-guard with the announcement of FFXIV :ed:

I think its pretty obvious they may make another Dissidia yet they should hopefully fix the problems in the sequal thet they had with the orriginal.
The orriginal...I dont like but I dont purely hate it yet either.
But they seriously should improve some things in the sequal such as story line/camera angling ect ect...
But all in all I see a very high probability of a dissidia 2 in the making most likely after the chronicles of FFXIII have been released.

Speculations and discussions of a Dissidia sequel have been circulating around the internet for a while now. Chances are, most of them are probably fabricated. We have seen a couple of times some fake stories such as Lightning being featured in a sequel or as downloadable content.

Dissidia Wiki really isn't a very reliable place to get this sort of information. Chances are it was probably added on there by some random individual with very little to go on.

Plus, even if Nomura wants to do a sequel, it isn't his choice whether or not the project goes forward. I don't think he's high enough in the SE executive to make these kind of decisions. He may want a sequel, but that doesn't automatically mean there will be one.

Sure it does hes the "man".....Man.

Your probably right though The bottom line of the company has to come into at some stage right, but I would think for the amount spent on producing a Dissidia sequel S-E would make a substantial profit that would more than make it worth there while?

I mean seriously the designers could'nt possibly NOT want to do it would they?
this is what they do for a living , you could argue though they would want some newer material, but with all the S-E games in production,FF, Dragon Quest, Nier, KH a Dissida sequel may simply be beyond there scope right now.

You would not think the would outsource one of there games simply to get it on the market quicker would you?

I say we raid the S-E building and find out for our selves, and while were there we find any Info relating to a FFVIII remake......its killing me not knowing......

@Ether: What problems do you refer to? I don't have a problem with the camera angle =) I think they should tweak the Command Style. Such as movement, the character keeps running after the opponent. I wanna try it out but for some reason it turns me off...

@Fleur: Yeah I know Wiki's are not really reliable, but sometimes they are :awesome: I was disappointed too when they said Lightning was DLC but someone dawned on me that Dissidia isn't really created with DLC in mind. And I think Nomura's high up enough in the company. He worked his way up from monster design to character to finally directing one of the best action/rpg to date [Kingdom Hearts]. Oh and he's taking care of VS XIII too so...I think he's in a pretty good shape with SE

@Galaxy: That's true, but then if fan demand is really high, then most likely they'll do it, not because of the strong demand, but because of the profit they'll make [right?].
And what's this I hear about FFVIII remake?? I thought it's FFVII??!!:kelly:
Let's say they're making a Dissidia sequel, should it be on a console [no hatin' but I hope they stick with Sony alone, they're in really good terms]? And should other SE-property characters make cameo appearances in the game? I mean if they considered KH characters, why not others right? But then again, Dissidia's a FF game :ed:

If Square-Enix makes a sequel of Dissidia Final Fantasy with Kingdom Hearts characters then they have to think of a new game title so it can fit perfectly with both the Final Fantasy section and the Kingdom Hearts section, otherwise it will ruin the game. I personally think that Square-Enix is going to leave the game as it is, because as mention before Nomura said " that a potential sequel will include Kain Highwind, Gilgamesh and Sazh Katzrov, no Kingdom Hearts characters." I have to agree with him because there are still some good Final Fantasy characters from the series that can be added to the sequel. As you can see Nomura already mention three great characters that will appear in the sequel. Is up to them to choose which characters to add and how many of them. All we can do is wait for it to be done.

I agree, these three are great additions, Nomura actually wanted them in the beginning but didn't make the cut so i'm pretty sure they will if there is a sequel. But with lack of information right now, we're still not sure if a sequel is indeed in the works or are we just teasing ourselves.

But i'm just wondering, why would Nomura want KH characters in Dissidia? Aside from him creating the series. Is he broadening the meaning of Final Fantasy in the title? :ed:

dissidia 2 would be fun only if they added all the charachters of the final fantasy series in it not just the main ones.

If they have Sora and other Kingdom Hearts on Dissidia 2 , it would be good way for people see who the real Keyblade master is. no jk but i would be excited for the sequel.
