I'm afraid it seems yet again that it is time for me to leave this place... for the same reason it always is

I come to share my opinion on a certain subject (I believe you know the thread to which I refer) and I am shunned and made a pariah for it. You are far from the first and certainly not the last community to do so to me.

At this, I bid thee farewell. On to ask another group... and be rejected by them too
 
Really? Ten days or so and you're going in a huff? I think you need to accept that people will sometimes disagree with you about things.
 
I've got to agree. Why did you ask for people's opinions if you aren't willing to accept them when they differ to yours? There are people who agree with you too from what I saw. I think some of your comments were a bit over the top which is probably why people quoted them.

when you have an opinion in the minority you need to learn to face some degree of ridicule and not take it personally. Hope you stick around but do you don't then farewell. :smiff:
 
Just because people disagree with you doesn't mean you need to leave. If you are really only 16 you need to realize that people will always disagree with you. Like iSmiff said, "don't take it personally".
Think of it as an opportunity to grow. The older you get, the more people will disagree with you even if you are right about something. You might as well get used to it. Learn to control your emotions.
There is no need to flame or give out personal attacks in retaliation. Learn to debate instead of argue if you can. You won't get it right all the time so don't be too hard on yourself.
Know that each person is different and goes off their own experiences, knowledge and learned behavior.

No need to flounce off. You've shared your opinion and others are sharing theirs. Some are going to agree and some are going to disagree. Just because they disagree doesn't mean they are not respecting your opinion and shunning you.

Referring to the thread this may be about - I personally cannot agree with you based on your initial post alone yet I respect your opinion and try to urge you to explain further so that I may understand your point. I'm genuinely interested on why you have your view on that particular topic.

Hope you stick around.

So someone disagreed with you: It's really not that important. Your life won't be affected in the slightest because some people like porn, bud. Of course, You have every right to express your opinion as they do. Sometimes, if you're heart-set on letting people know and side with your opinion, you're going to have to debate with naysayers. You're not always going to be right either. It's the internet: you have to learn to deal with opinions you both like and dislike.

So...Try go with the flow? The members of this forum are extremely unlikely to be debating with you because they dislike you. It's not personal, and generally it doesn't become personal either.

Stick around. The people just haven't gotten the chance to know you, so they might be a bit apprehensive in conversation.

Or leave- and experience this exact same situation on about 5 other forums.

Pretty much nailed what I was going to say on the head. I don't wish members to leave and a topic like porn is a delicate one at that. It is going to have a wide array of opinions, it is only natural to see opinions that greatly differ from your own. Just take it for what it is and have fun on the forums, like others have said it is too early to leave and I doubt anyone is disliking or hating on you.

Thank you for the encouragement, but you all seem to have misread me. I'm not upset because people disagree with me...

It's a very long story, and that subject is something that matters a great deal to me for personal reasons I would prefer not to divulge.

I feel... rejected for my beliefs. It seems most of the time when I share my opinion on the matter, all that happens is I am called "freak" or, and I quote someone, "retarded sexually repressed, pompous, arrogant, naive, condescending, patronizing, virgin _____" (Yeah I'm not sure about the rules on expletives here. Let's just say they used a capital C.

I admit... I sometimes go overboard with my opinion... and I'm known to be somewhat... explosive at times. It's something I've been working on for the past 416 days and 21 hours (as of this post)

It's incredibly difficult to explain, if anyone gives a crap to learn more, ask personally please... I'd rather not make more a fool out of myself than I already have

I have not read your posts so I don't know what your beliefs are but your feelings of being rejected are the result of taking it personally. Even if you are attacked personally, you shouldn't take it personally. This is an internet forum for the most part covering Final Fantasy, and people just don't know you personally, so don't take it personally. It is wise to maintain a code of ethics in social interactions not just with family and friends but on the internet as well. If you are having a hard time understanding this, seek out your family for advice or professional help from a psychologist/counselor that upholds morals and ethics.
 
If you're looking for a place where every single person is going to agree with you then I'm afraid you're never gonna find it. People have their opinions, just as you have yours. I'm not sure what threads you've started but just because people disagree with you don't mean you should leave. If you were insulted you need to tell the mods and give them the post and user that attacked you, no reason to leave though.

Different opinions just means you're an individual, and individuality is a good thing.

a few years ago i gave a neg rep to someone that i was debating, and now we're chill as hell. so yeah, people and situations can change. shouldn't just call it quits because you feel out numbered or something. :lew:

but if you want to, then that's cool too. but, the way you're talking makes it seem like you have no friends here, so what's the point of making this thread? :hmmm:
 
People, let's please respect each other as best as we can. We don't all have to agree with someone's statement but sometimes people take it a bit harder than others and that is okay. Let's remember that.

@Seagoat, I really wish you would give this place another try, as most of our members, while strong in their opinions, they don't say them with bad intent. If there was actual bashing going on, please make sure to contact one of us on staff in case someone missed it.

Truly sorry to hear you're (considering) leaving, once again, I hope you try and take certain opinions with a grain of salt and attempt to give this place another try. If you need anything feel free to send me a PM.

There are always people who are going to disagree with you on the internet, but good luck pal.

I get the distinct impression that this is all over the pornography thread. I don't really want to go back to that conversation, but when you pick something out that is really popular and try to demonize it, people are going to express strong opinions. You can't expect people to agree with you on anything if you can't make a convincing argument as to why they should.

It's kind of like saying fat people are a drain on the economy and not even taking athletes and their injuries into account.

There are people on the internet who get told their thoughts aren't worth shit every day. I was on this date site the other day and this dude is asking a chick to rate him and didn't really give a favorable reply. I told him he should lose the beanie cuz with his shave he looked like a hobo that just beat up a kid and stole his clothes

dude explodes and tells me not to even talk because i (apparently) look like i'm 40 lol

I don't even finish reading someones post when they call themselves a feminist because it's just too much effort to recognize different forms of feminism.

I really wouldnt worry about whatever it is you think youv done. Debate threads arent worth it imo and theyre nowt to get excited about. Theres lots of people here who im good friends with but they have some pretty wack opinions. I dont think anyone would hold a grudge either. Id like to think most of us are mature enough not to really care much at all.
