I read on FF wiki that they're gonna make some changes, big changes, to Dissidia when it releases in English. Is this true, and are these changes bad or good? I read that there's an hour long tutorial with character cameos in the Japanese version. But the English version will be shortened to 10 minutes long. Does that mean we won't see the character cameos? Also, I tried looking on Youtube for a video that shows the character cameos in the tutorial, but I can't find ANY videos of it. I'm starting to wonder if there even are any cameos and if I'll ever see them...

From 1 hour to 10 mins?! I think this overrated don't you think?
I believe you'll see the heroes and the villains come out but I don't think you'll see their life stories though ;)

No one can upload a 1 hour trailer on the utube unless he or she take it down to at least 6 parts. So that'll be a li'l annoying "if" there was a one hour trailer as you said ;)

1 hour cameos? There's no 1 hour cameos in the Japanese Dissidia. :/ Not even real introductions to the characters.

Other changes from the Japanese to English version are mostly skills-related, for the sake of balancing the game. Some characters can be very cheap, in the Japanese version.

They are shortening the game's total play time, it will be cut from around 50 hours for full completion to around 10 to 15 hours. The only thing being shortened, however is grind time, in the English version it won't take nearly as long to level up your characters.

The English version will also have more story mode cutscenes than the Japanese, and most if not all of the characters have more moves in the English release, so while play time will be shorter the English release has more content than the Japanese release. There's nothing the Japanese release has on the English release other than more tedious grinding, whereas the English release has nothing but extra material.

By "game's total play time" you mean how long it takes to complete everything in the game?

Because if it is the case, then it is sh!t.
50 hours is already short (at least compared to most other FFs) anyway and 15 is REALLY short.
I know fighting games which can offer at least 40 hours with some cool fetures. :gonk:

And again, they are making the english version easier... stupid SE.

All they're doing is reducing the time it takes to max out your character's level, only boring grinding time is going away. The story mode is longer in the English version because it has more scenes and dialog.

I'll repeat this so no one else misunderstands. Nothing good has been taken from the game, only the time it takes to level up.

The English version does have online play right?

Also, this was quoted from Final Fantasy Wikia:

"The North American and European versions of Dissidia are set to have many changes. For example, the tutorial, which is about one hour long in the Japanese version, is on ten minutes long. There will be cameos from other characters in certain cutscenes, but they will remain unplayable. "Arcade Mode", as told above, is a new game mode that lets players fight five enemies in a row for rewards.
There are also changes to the gameplay itself. The Story Mode can apparently be beaten more quickly, depending on the player's decisions. Each character also has adjusted abilities and several have new attacks, to make gameplay more balanced. A demo of the game has been announced to be available through US Playstation Store on July 23rd, and its free to download. Though it is unknown is this demo will be made available to other regions."

  • The ability to change between normal battle mode and Command battle mode. This new mode bears a resemblance with XII's battle system, however it's fast paced.

  • Several skills have been changed. For example, Squall's Rough Divide move is now available at level 1, and EX Core Lock-On now available at level 1 as well for all characters.
  • Added Air Dash skill, which is a faster Free Air Dash (R + Tri) available only when Quickmoving (flying etc. with Tri button). Good for launching surprise attacks. Available at level 6 (I think).
  • Changed Duel Coliseum to Arcade Mode, and made it so it's available right at the beginning of the game. The characters which you play with in arcade mode have pre-determined skills/equipment/etc.
  • I believe that the online rooms have been renamed.
  • 8 of the 16 online rooms are only for Arcade Mode characters.
  • Some graphics changed (Accessory icons, the Chocobo etc.)
  • Exdeath's AI has been (partly) fixed. No more easy levelling for you!
  • Battle Rise changed to Battlegen. (Only the name)
  • Other stuff of which I do not know of.
I think that pretty much sums it up.
About the character cameos - I don't know anything about them. I didn't see any cutscenes with them, that's for sure. But some FF characters are "explaining" the game to you!

(I swear, I had no idea that I only had to feed the fast fish to Cid! Poor Cid...)

Whatcha mean no cameo characters in cutscenes? That sucks. So how is the english version? There are supposed to be cameo characters in the cutscenes. Anyways the differences look good and ill be buying this tommorow. Hopefully it wont be a waste of money! You sure that is everything?

Ok, so after seeing posts from people who have the leaked English version I can confirm the reason Story mode is shorter. Shade Impulse is now available after completing only one Destiny Odyssey instead of not being unlocked after all of them are complete. No content has been released, it's just that you can choose to beat Shade Impulse and see the ending before playing through as everyone.

I was worried about the ISO leak not being accurate, and that being the reason why I unlocked SI after only 1 DO. Well, I guess that's not the case :wacky:
So yeah, I beat the game's story mode and I also now have a level 100 character. Working on the gear now, hopefully the Ultima Weapon is still here and is still as easy to get as in JAP.
Oh and by the way, that list I made is way off, I made lots of mistakes.
