What did you think of this little window to the past? I love collecting the spheres, some of them are actually really touching :wacky: I like how you actually get to see how much Jecht really cares, especiallythey way he portrayed to us before we find sdaid spheres, and that first one you find made me all lip wobbly, Im getting SOFT in my old age!

And are you as sad as me in that as soon as you obtain the firts one from macalania forest you back track and get them all? Ive just spent the last 2 and a half hours trekking from macalania collecting them, and Ive just landed back in Besaid

All I need now is that last one in Gagazet and I have them all, only the best for my Auron!

I remember the first time I did this little side quest, arrived back to Besaid and got AMBUSHED by Dark Valefor, so I decided I'd rather just trek back and get the dam sphere so I don't have to power level just to get Aurons final over drive

Please tell me its not just me that does this, it would make me a very sad individual :wacky:

You don't need to power level to beat Dark Valefor. An easy way is to give Yuna an armour with Break HP Limit (yep, one of the few cases in which it's useful) and Auto-Potion, and stock up on Potions. Raise her HP to at least 5000 (which you can double with a Stamina Tablet/Tonic - 9999 is not enough, but 10000 is). In battle, mix Trio of 9999 on her. You are now invincible. Dark Valefor cannot exceed 9999 damage, except with her overdrive - when it comes, you just summon an aeon to take the hit. How you attack is up to you, but with this, your defence is taken care of.

Certianly a lot easier than doing all that backtracking at any rate.

If you don't want to waste the Remiem Temple Wings to Discovery on a BHPL armour, you could try to win one from Omega Weapon.

Well Ive done it now anyway :wacky:

And it was just the idea of doing ANY kind of training to go and get one piddly sphere that put me off ..now I just have to mission back to Macalania.... ¬.¬

Aurons worth all the extra effort though

*fan girl scream*

It's not much training at all. If you simply complete her sphere grid section - which you should through the normal course of the game - you'll have 3075 HP. Throw just one more HP sphere on her (the +300 ones you find around), and give her HP+30% and HP+20%. She now has 5062 HP. In battle, throw a Stamina Tablet/Tonic on her, and you now have enough HP for the trick.

I went back as far as the thunder plains to get one, but was worried id bump into dark ixion (when do the dark aeons appear by the way?)

But haven't trecked all the way back to biknel yet. maybe I will, be good for leveling up (sphere grid thing, you know what i mean) better than wandering about aimlessly.

I had to go back to kilika in my first game cos i missed the jecht shot on the boat (i didn't know what you were supposed to do, don't think i read the instructions :wacky:)

I collected a few, but I was really put off by the Dark Aeons. D= I don't like mega-power-training, as it takes far too much time and I really can't be bothered with it.

I liked the few I collected though, they were quite sweet, actually. And I love the thought of Braska, Jecht and Auron leaving spheres everywhere for Yuna and Tidus to find. ^^

I think the Dark Aeons start appearing sometime after you fight Seymour for the first time, or at least anytime after that anyway, I just back track from getting the very first sphere so I know theres no chance in running into them

Different Dark Aeons, different times, but none of them appear before you beat Seymour for the 2nd time.

Dark Valefor: Once you get the airship, you can fight her.
Dark Ifrit: Once you get the airship, you can fight him.
Dark Ixion: He appears as soon as Seymour Natus is defeated.
Dark Shiva: She appears as soon as Seymour Natus is defeated.
Dark Bahamut: Once you get the airship, you can fight him.
Dark Anima: The one Dark Aeon I'm not 100% sure on. At the very earliest, after Sanctuary Keeper, but I think it's not until you get the airship. Either way, it's near impossible to run into her without actively trying to.
Dark Yojimbo: Once you get Yojimbo, you can fight him.
Dark Magus Sisters: Once you get the airship, you can fight them.

Awww man, I just tried back tracking and I'm stuck outside guadosalam! What a trek for nothing, should have checked i s'pose!

Auron's last overdrivewill have to wait grrrr.

I have all but the last one now, I do enjoy viewing all those spheres :awesome:

The treks a massive pain in the arse but Im always glad Ive done it when it's out of the way xD

You have to go back as soon as you beat Spherimorph. Once you've beaten Crawler, you can't go back until you get the airship.

The Jecht spheres were wonderful in my opinion, it helps develop Tidus' character as much as it does Jecht's. It's also great to see young Auron and Braska. They really were a great idea.

My personal favourite is the one which ends with Jecht sat cross-legged in front of the camera, and he finishes with something along the lines of "Uh... be good. Aah, I'm no good at this kind of thing" and that just really says it all about Jecht's character in my opinion.

If it weren't for the Jecht spheres, then the final battle with Jecht wouldn't have meant nearly as much, so they did a real good job there.

I agree! At the start you only saw Jecht in a bad light, so you thought that he was just an arrogant arse. but then you see more of him in the spheres and realise he's much more complex and it DOES make the battles with Sin more emotional and you feel more of a connection.

Gonna plough on until I get to the airship, I'm nearly at Zanarkand so not long!

Optional bosses for extra challenge, nothing more.

They just chose to put Valefor, Shiva and Bahamut in very inconvenient locations... (blocking Besaid, Macalania and Sun Crest respectively)

Yeah I got ambushed by Dark Valefor too. I was following an online guide and I saw the Quest for Aurons Final Overdrive, I thought to myself "wow this seems like the quest for me, I do like Auron after all". So I arrive at Besaid only to get confronted and killed by that fucking bird.

I never bothered trying to kill any of the dark Aeons, so I pretty much gave up on the spheres. I didn't bother backtracking from Macalania either as I'm far too lazy for that. But I did enjoy watching the few spheres I managed to collect.

As I mentioned before: You don't need to be powerful to beat Dark Valefor, you just need Break HP Limit + Auto-Potion for a character with at least 5000 HP.
