I definately prefer the materia system, im replaying final fantasy 8 coz i think i need to refresh the story line in my head as was having a debate about Ultimecia, but anyways. I think the junctioning system is alright when you get used to using it. I think all these different systems are a way to test us the gamers, and it makes the games more interesting.
You are right, if all games were to have the same system game after game, then where would it be left the interesting new thing that makes all games unique?

I love this system cause I don't have to worry about my MP at all during the fight I can just get 100 of spell and go the whole fight using them and only have to worry about ot when I'm low.

Junction was cool because of the character customization. Like everyone else, I had the cheapest Squall on the planet. I think he won the final battle on his own. However, I thought it discouraged the use of magic, at least, the good kind. Stuff like Ultima and Aura was all Junctioned up, so I didn't want to use it.

*is perhaps too lazy or too cheap to go find more of them*

The junction system is crap. I used a code to get infinite vit up, str up, ect. I like to use my magic without it decreasing my stats when its junctioned.

It doesn't drop your stats *that* much when you use a few spells, especially if you periodically refill by drawing them elsewhere. If I have Ultima junctioned to HP, and am far enough into the game where i have HP+ GF abilities, I can cast 10+ ultima per battle and still have 9999 HP.

It's all in how you use it.
