Let's Play Eternal Sonata!

Viola shows Polka her special charm in episode 45!

http://youtu.be/FPndi-d3DDQ

In this episode we start heading towards the temple via Celesta Forest. There's a fair bit of back tracking in the snowy forest, but don't worry because the magical power of WLMM will save you from seeing it! That Spell (Magic?) Book is enough to find...but also easy enough to miss if you rush too much.

--------------------------------------------------------

We make it to Aria Temple in episode 46!

http://youtu.be/UDi2p-hUvyQ

This time we give the spell (magic?) book to the researcher and head back through Celesta Forest for the last time. We also make a start on Aria Temple, which is pretty interesting in the way that you collect the treasure chests.
I love this snow and ice so much :D

Thanks for watching so far! :)

Awesome work ! Keep it up !

BTW I'm going to go out and give that good luck charm a bit of a try
:olivia:

We fight Rondo in episode 47!

http://youtu.be/zVA_q8yviz0

This episode has the last of Aria Temple including the fight against Rondo. Look out for her poisons...and try to guard as much as possible (as usual). We get a "new" character too, which is very welcome.

--------------------------------------------------

We save the Agogo Queen Mother in episode 48!

http://youtu.be/gQ08OV3ZKps

This episode was a mash up of 2 episodes, so there's a weird part in there near the start. We also need to head back through Agogo Forest (for what I think is a new part to the ps3 version?) in order to save the Agogo Queen Mother. Darn that Fugue...it's time to kill him off once and for all! :D

We see the wrath of the Agogo Queen Mother in episode 49!

http://youtu.be/BCoGEHcQhG8

This episode has the fight against Fugue, Salsa and March show what they can do when they get together and we make it to To Coda Ruins. These ruins are possibly my favourite dungeon in the game, so look forward to the next episode! ;)

----------------------------------------------

We explore the To Coda Ruins in episode 50!

http://youtu.be/5QalNiIUyEk

And this episode has loads more of the To Coda Ruins. While this is a longish dungeon, it's also my favourite from Eternal Sonata. It's night, it's calm, it's peaceful...I love it :)
Enjoy! :)

More of the To Coda Ruins in episode 51!

http://youtu.be/xmN5x1uBfks

The To Coda Ruins are quite long, so here's some more of them! Sorry about the lack of speech in the second half...can't quite remember what interruption there was this time :/

--------------------------------------------

We make it to the Cello Tree in episode 52!

http://youtu.be/JhxVfy86a2g

The Cello Tree may seem like a happy, sunny place, but the fortunes that are tied to the tree are going to foreshadow the rest of the game...for better or for worse...

Thanks for watching so far guys!

We take down Count Waltz in episode 54!

http://youtu.be/eFPERGEoKjk

Hey folks, in this episode we fight Count Waltz and his sidekick. This is a tough fight...and it comes down to the wire too :/

--------------------------------------

We make a start on the Elegy of the Moon in episode 55!

http://youtu.be/_pxcCIFALlY

This episode's pretty sad...we make it to a ghost town. The Elegy of the Moon is a huge place that we'll be hanging around for the rest of the game in. We also see the Noise Dunes of Fantasy and make a start on the Xylophone Tower of the Shining Keys.

Plenty of new places in this episode then. Oh and we get 2 new characters that are exclusive to the PS3 version.
The tower is bloody tall...and has some minigames that can be bloody hard. At least for me. All the solutions are in this episode and the next folks!

The rest of the Xylophone Tower in episode 56!

http://youtu.be/ARH-KCZ5RNQ

This episode has the rest of the Xylophone Tower...apart from the very top floor. Get ready for the 3rd of the memory minigames...it's a bloody nightmare! :rage:

--------------------------------------

We make it to the final dungeon in episode 57!

http://youtu.be/qTa5tI66Tzo

We finish off the Xylophone Tower, cross the Noise Dunes and make it to the entrance of the final dungeon: the Double Reed Tower of Sand.
We're almost finished guys! Well...it's a pretty long dungeon, but we've reached the home stretch! :)

3 episodes today folks! I've been on an editing binge...we're so close to the end now people!

Anyways, let's kick things off with todays first video: episode 58!

http://youtu.be/MchNQi-phJM

This episode sees us make it all the way to the first boss! He's a bit of a push-over really, but they won't all be like that...

------------------------------------------------

And onto episode 59!

http://youtu.be/kvJWr0cAgTk

This episode sees us make it to boss number 2, which again isn't too hard. With the second boss down, we making the first tower's sand flow...onto the 2nd tower!

--------------------------------------------------

Finally (for today) we have episode 60!

http://youtu.be/n4YQlEFOgEk

This episode is a wee bit shorter what with a certain...interruption towards the end. We make it to the save point just before the 3rd boss.

Enjoy folks! We're nearly finished!

Ok, one more for you guys today :)

We take down the White Jewel in episode 61!

http://youtu.be/x6E4VVnCIMQ

What we have here is the third boss: White Jewel...and he's a bit of a toughy! There's just one more boss before we head for the end of the game people! :D

The last 4 episodes will be chucked up here tomorrow, with a bonus episode coming the day after!

4 episodes incoming! This post will include the last of the series...except for a bonus episode which will be up tomorrow! :)

We kill off the 4th boss in episode 62!

http://youtu.be/LZ7HXLILWyg

The 4th boss is killed, releasing the last of the sandstreams. Next up is the final bosses and the end of the game!

-------------------------------------------

We take on Count Waltz and his fiery friend in episode 63!

http://youtu.be/CUqjtqfUxug

Just one more boss to go folks...

-----------------------------------

We take on that one more boss in episode 64!

http://youtu.be/VJXLs3vE1GI

This episode has the last boss, and the last bit of gameplay to go with it! It's actually a simple boss, and I think it's mainly there for story purposes...it's a very interesting fight to watch though :)

-------------------------------

We see the end of the game in episode 65!

http://youtu.be/mjqDgZp0ZaI

This episode is technically the last episode of the series, so enjoy the ending cinematics! The credits are actually some of the most stunning I've seen for a game...that singing and environment  .

There'll be a bonus episode up soon to wrap the whole series up :)

Hey there folks, here's the last episode of Eternal Sonata! It's more like a bonus video, but it's one of my favourite bits of the game anyways :)

http://youtu.be/3s9s42cvJA4

This here video, folks, is the snail story from Eternal Sonata! It's a seriously simple, yet stunning, bit of indie artwork that should be watched by all, even if you didn't like the game. Look out for the star lights in the background...they help tell the story incredibly well.

Thanks everyone for watching this series! I'm pretty happy with how this turned out...I don't get much chance to talk and the picture quality isn't great, but I think it's pretty streamlined and edited in mostly the right places. If this series has taught me anything, it's that the Dazzle capture card should not really be used for modern games...you can still see what's going on and everything...it's not that bad...but maybe a different recording device would be better for these sorts of games.

And with that, I'll open the thread up to comments (not that it was closed to them before :$ )! I'm gonna be heading on over to the Beat The Beat Video Gallery now to play through that. Come and join me if you like your top-notch rhythm games! ;)

Aw man, that was a pretty confusing ending. I only watched the last 10 episodes or so because that's as far as I'd played up to myself. Gosh, I almost cried. I forgot that this game's main theme is death and a huge part of my life right now is centred around that. I'm surprised I didn't cry, I really am.

Very confused about Frederick, did he live on in the dream? If so then why is his spirit there in the room at the end? Who was the woman in the room? Was she his wife, if she was alive why could she hear him playing? What about Polka? I already figured out the whole cycle thing, it was a bit obvious after the stone Allegretto gave her, but how could she use that amount of her magic and still be alive? Will she still die from it or was that a part of the cycle that seems to have been going on for a very long time? So many questions, it's so annoying :( I kind of knew the ending would be vague but that was really vague. We don't even really know whether it was Allegretto or Frederick who saved her and broke the cycle. I assumed it was Allegretto who she heard calling to her, hence why her mother mentioned marriage and matching souls and that. Meh, very confusing.

Thank you for taking us through this journey with you :) it is a lovely story and a great game and although I can't say I'm 100% satisfied with the ending I still enjoyed it overall. I'll probably go away in search of answers online to the ending now lol

Ok, I'm gonna give answering your questions a go...but my answers will all be my own theory.

Frederick did indeed live on in the dream. Does that mean that the world in his head was his ideal heaven? That that is where he will live after death? It looks that way to me.
His spirit comes out of his body for him to play the piano for the credits of course! :D . That and just to show without a doubt that he has in fact died in the "normal world".
The woman in the room was a relative of Fred's in the normal world. It's where he got his image of Polka from (notice she looks a LOT like Polka if Polka wore normal clothes for that era.
The woman in the room could not necessarily hear him playing. She started singing out the window out of memory of one of the songs that Frederick composed. Perhaps her favourite one?
I think it's BECAUSE Polka used up her magic that she lived. It's the ability of using magic that would have caused her to die (I think?).
Polka will not die during the new cycle, because she probably wouldn't have magic...I think again.

I personally think that it was Fred that saved her, because it was mentioned at the Cello Tree that Fred was not around during all the other times that the party went past the tree. This would partially explain how Polka would be saved this time but not the others.

There's also another ending if you
revive Claves in the Noise Dunes
, and another ending when you complete new game plus. Maybe those answer more questions for certain...it's been too long since I saw them :)
