When do you try and get your Limit Breaks for your characters? Do you have a set place in the game where you try and reach certain Break Levels or do you just get them as you go along?

I try and have points where I hold back untill I gain Limits.
-Everyone has their 2nd Lv1 Limit by the time I head for the Shinra building to rescue Aerith
-1st of Lv2 by the time I enter Junon Harbour prior to the battle with Bottomswell
-2nd Lv2 by the time I face Lost Number in Nibelheim Mansion
-Everyone except Cid and Vincent to have completed Lv2 by the end of Disc1, thos two should have finished Lv1.
-1st Lv3 by the time you finish the Huge Materia quests
-Everyone should have their 2nd of Lv3 by the end of Disc2, including Cid and Vincent along with any Lv4's I've obtained.
-Disc 3 consists of getting any Lv4's I didn't get during the second disc.

I dunno why, but its how I work.

I do the exact same thing.
I feel like I have to get my characters to a certain leven with good limits before I enter a new town/dungeon.

It's an accomplishment thing. ^_^

I did mine around the time Mideel was destroyed. That area had a few creatures that you could eaily beat with Slash-All or Double Cut, but they gave a good amount of EXP and AP as well. So I basically put Fury on all my characters, and just kicked the junk outta the enemies to gain all my Limits.

I am confused. Is this thread about getting the new limit breaks or just charging the limit gauge?

I think it's about obtaining limit breaks. :)

i already forgot when, i just kept playing it, and suprised whenever a new limit pops-up,,, and ofcoarse i kept using them:D

I just started a new file yesterday...I have JUST gotten out of Midgar and I have Cloud at lvl3 limit break and everyone else has their 2nd one in their 2nd level. All of my peoples levels are above 20 also..

OMfg o_O
Dang, you mustve spent a lot of time just leveling up! lol.

I played the game straight through, without spending masses of time levelling up. I never ran from a wild battle, but I never went looking for them either. I tended to get the new limit breaks roughly at:

Level 1-2: Heading down sector 6 to find Tifa
Level 2-1: Leaving Midgar
Level 2-2: Cosmo Canyon
Level 3-1: Just before Jenova - life
Level 3-2: Just before Hojo

Batsch man you crazy!! i think that kinda ruins the game cuz its way too easy from then on! ...but each to his own!! :)

for cloud i like to have cross-slash for his battle with reno atop the plate.
every one else just as soon as i get them!!

Now I'm kind of in the mood to go play the game and max out my stats! lol.

Limit breaks are more or less as follows

To activate your second limit break in the level, use your first limit break in that level 8 times (sometimes more sometimes less, depends on the character you're trying to get it for.)

And to get the next level of limit breaks, your character has to defeat 80 enemies and you'll get the lvl 2 limit break, 80 more enemies will get you your lvl 3. (With Vincent you only have to defeat 60 enemies for each level.)

I just started a new file yesterday...I have JUST gotten out of Midgar and I have Cloud at lvl3 limit break and everyone else has their 2nd one in their 2nd level. All of my peoples levels are above 20 also..

I did the same thing on my current file. But I learned that it's actualy a big waste of time to do it in Midgar with anybody other than Cloud. The next file I start, I will wait till I get the buggy, and do it at Junon where I can take full advantage the exp & AP the enemies offer to level up all my characters.
