Just wondering, how many of you have got the Lionheart on disc one? And how did you do that?

I got it yesterday right after Timber, for the Dragon Fangs i just levelled up and won them from a Mid-Level T-Rexaur. Pulse Ammo was the most annoying i was gonna Mug the Elastoids in Lagunas 2nd Dream but i wanted it before then, so i stuck out gettin 20 Elnoyle cards, bout 2 hours of playing Zell's Mum. And for the adamantine i won it from the Adamantoise on Dollet Beaches right after Timber.

Awesome to have it this early, everything is 1 hit lol. Plus my Squall is level 72, and he has around 180 strength. Junctioned of course.

well i got it at the start of the game on my second time through by using my mates cheat disc to get me 99 of each item and got it that way well after i had Doomtrain master the juncshop abbility

bah cheating is no fun. I got it right after the 2nd laguna dream. I think I got the other items for it by playing the card game. I think I was lvl 50 when I got it. it was so long ago I can't remember.

I was going to try it once, but then realised that I couldn't remember exactly how to get everything I needed, so gave up. I can imagine it being awfully tedious though.

That is just ridculous. I cannot believe you can get Lionheart on Disk 1.

I never got Lionheart on Disk 1. I didn't even think it was possible. I thought you had to have the magazine first to even have the ability to create Lionheart.

Wow, all I can say that it wasn't every thought out by Square. =/ Most games you get final weapons near the end. Again this proves FFVIII is one of the easiest game out of the series.

yeah im pretty sure the only way you can get it on disc one is by cheating, because it doesn't become available until you get the weapons monthly first issue, which isnt available until disc 3 i believe?

Eh...? First disc...?

How’s that possible without cheating? I’m positive you need the Weapons Monthly Magazine: First Issue - to upgrade all of their final weapons (as well as the appropriate items needed). This magazine isn’t available until the Laguna / Lunatic Pandora Dream Sequence on the third disc...

*** EDIT...

Hrm... It seem it may be possible... I didn't think it was. Er.. I'll have to look into this. :nerd:

Actually I've come to learn that a weapon becomes available the moment you have all the materials you need for it. you don't need the magazine. it is only there to tell you what you need to gather for whatever weapon. no cheating needed.
believe me, i was just as suprised when I saw I could upgrade on thefirst disk myself. I had not planned for it to happen.

I've heard of this before and I do believe it is possible. Problem is I suck at playing cards, so what is this about Laguna's 2nd dream? How do I do that? I can get the pulse ammo using ifrit and adamantine from converting the two brothers cards and the fangs from the T Rex.

Problem is, I need that stuff to convert into pulse ammo. HELP?!

Wow... It is true.

Just for yucks, I started a new game with a clean file... only giving myself (1) Adamantine, (4) Dragon Fangs and (12) Pulse Ammos, then headed into the town of Balamb and was able to upgrade Squall's weapon immediately to Lion Heart...

Here's what I found online... So I don't know how accurate it is, but it seems to be a pretty good workaround if you don't wanna use the card route.

"The hardest to get is the Pulse Ammo. You get the Pulse Ammo on Disk 1 by using the "Ammo-RF" ability on Laser Cannons. You get Laser Cannons from Elastoids in Laguna's second "Dream World". The Elastoids are most easily found in the room after the Detonator switch, that has stairs, and a lot of pink and yellow in the background. You need to Mug Laser Cannon's from these monsters. You need at least 3 of them for the weapon. Each Laser Cannon makes 5 Pulse Ammo.

If for some reason you miss the Elastoids, you need Energy Crystals to make the weapon on Disk one. And thats a pain in the ass. You get Energy Crystals by Card Modding Enoyle cards. 10 Enoyle's is one Energy Crystal. and one Energy Crystal=10 Pulse Ammo. This is much slower then fighting the
Elastoids."

Yeah you don't need to get the magazines. I usually get Rinoa's Cardinal (the big red one) weapon early on the first disc without having to actually hunt out for items, and that doesn't appear for another 3 or so Mags! But I didn't think the ultimate weapons would be possible, but thinking about it now, I'm convinced it can be done. However it would take a really long time, more time than I normaly spend which I feel is a lot already.

I'm not lying lol...

Its easy enough to get, you dont need the magazines. Weapons appear available when you have all the items. I also have Zells final weapon now too, got it in deling.

Only thing about mugging the Elastoids for Laser Canons is you have to be mid-level. 30-50 i think?

I have Rinoas Cardinal too, her 2nd best weapon, and Quistis' 2nd best weapon too. Irvine and Selphie have their 2nd weapons.

Getting the Lionheart on disc one is far from tedious, just the same as getting it on Disc 3. Its easy to train, using T-Rexaurs in Training Centre..great exp.

Lionheart is also the only final weapon you can get in the first disk. the others involve drops from enemies that only begin to appear in the second or third disk.

Can't say iv ever tried, altho i do make a point on getting as many elnoyle cards as i possibly can, I wish id thought about that and tried it myself. I don't think i'd have the patience tho. I know you can get the weapons without the magazines I worked that out when I could upgrade to that red weapon of Rinoas ages ago and thought it was abit daft that you didn't need the magazine

I actually found a guide where it tells you how to get all of the final weapons before Disk. It takes a lot of time and many card games to get the items. It is possible, you just need to get cards and refine them into items.

Key:
Let ___ drop: Do not Mug the monster.
Mug: Use the Mug ability to steal the item
Disc #: Earliest disc on which it can be acquired.
You know where to get this: Read higher up.
Squall - Lionheart. Disc 1.
4 Dragon Fangs. Best acquired from a Level 20-29 T-rexaur in the training centre. Low level Grendels in the Timber Roshfall Forest drop them, but I've never fought one.
1 Adamantine. Can only be acquired by letting Level 20+ Adamantoises drop them on the beach near Dollet. If you defeat the Black Widow, it might drop some.
12 Pulse Ammo. Mug the Elastoids (or let them drop) to get 3 Laser Cannons in the second Laguna Adventure or let Level 30+ Belhelmels (Brown coloured Galbadian terrain) drop them. Or refine 20 Elnoyle cards to get 2 Energy Crystals. Both itmems can be refined to get Pulse Ammo.
Zell - Ehrgeiz. Disc 1.
1 Adamantine. You know where to get this.
1 Fury Fragment. Refining 4 Blue Dragon Cards is the easiest way.
4 Dragon skins. Let the Anacondaurs around Dollet drop them.
Irvine - Exeter. Disc 3.
2 Dino Bones - Mug or let T-rexaurs drop these.
18 screws - Refine 4 Geezard cards or mug or let Geezards around Dollet and Deling City Drop them.
2 Star Fragments. Refine 6 Iron Giant cards. There is a small chance a Level 30+ T-rexaur will drop them.
1 Moon Stone. This one item prevent you from getting the weapon any earlier than Disc 3. Mug Elnoyles or let Elnoyles, Lv 20+ Toramas and Lv 30+ Imps drop them. All live around Esthar after the Lunar Cry, and in the DS research centre.
Selphie - Strange Vision. Disc 1.
1 Adamantine. You know this one.
3 Star Fragments. You know this one too.
2 Curse Spikes. Refine 2 Tri-face cards. Level 20+ Forbiddens (Tomb of Unknown King) drop them.
Quistis - Save the Queen. Disc 1, but not likely until Disc 3.
2 Malboro Tentacles. Refine 8 Malboro cards.
4 Sharp spikes. Refine 4 Grand Mantis and/or Death Claw cards.
4 Energy Crystals. If you're up for it, refine 40 Elnoyle cards. Alternatively, wait until Disc 3 then let Elnoyles, Behemoths (Esthar) and Ruby Dragons (DS research centre) drop them or get them from the man in black in Esthar.
Rinoa - Shooting Star. Disc 1 if you're lucky. Disc 3 more likely.
2 Windmills. Refine 2 Abyss worm cards. Mug/ let Thrustaevis drop them.
1 Regen Ring. Leftys at Shernand Hill in Timber will drop them, but I don't think it's possible to get here until Disc 2 (it's near Winhill). Mug Biggs in the prison to be sure of getting it (Disc 2).
1 Force Armlet. Level 30+ Ochus in Timber Roshfall forest drop them, as do Level 30+ Forbiddens. In the 2nd Edea fight, she will drop it if you don't mug her. Apparently, the Black Widow might drop it if you defeat it, but I'm not sure about it. 2 Energy Crystals. You know about these.

oh well that solves a lot, i wasn't aware that you were able to get the ultimate weapons without the weapons monthly guide. well i guess it can't be all that hard in that case.

Lionheart is also the only final weapon you can get in the first disk. the others involve drops from enemies that only begin to appear in the second or third disk.

I just said i have Zell's aswell..it is possible to get them all. But i only had the pateince for Squalls, Zells came along with that due to the cards id gained from getting 20 elnoyles..

I've tried getting Lionheart on disc one, but i haven't succeeded yet. I tihk i got frustrated on trying to level up Squall without getting to far into the game, so i quit lol

Cant say Ive ever gotten it on my first disk. I think it was either the second or third disk I managed to get it. This is the first Ive heard about getting it on disk 1.

I'm going to do it. Thanks guys!

And it's good because I was already on level 55 with squall and around 40 with everyone without even having totally gone to Galbadia Garden on the first disk yet. I made it my goal to get all my characters to level 100 before really even 'starting' the game, so it works out. :P
