Looking for a new game like FFI

The ability to choose your own party and make the game as hard or easy as you want is my favorite feature of FFI. Games now almost always have a required plot character or two which you are forced to use. I would love to play another game with a party selection similar to FFI. Does anyone know of any PS I or PSII games with a similar format?

KH2 could fit in to the player format, the hardness format would go to KH2:FM+ which has 4 diffficulties and more stuff also the same stuff as KH2.

I am looking mostly for ps2 games but a good pc game would be fine also.

Thanks for the tips I am going to check out kh2.

KH2 looks like a very fun game. I was wondering about the main hero. I assuming you are required to use him most of the game. What I am really looking for is a game where you built your party out of generic archetypes not plot characters. FFI does this perfectly with the 6 generic types to choose from. If anyone can find a game like that I would be very grateful.

I might check out the KH games anyway. The theme looks very fun.

Yeah, the KH series are great games and all, but Gainer, I suggest not. If you're looking for a game where you customize your party, this game may not be your type. In most of the worlds you visit, you can get choose to change your party a little.

EX. You always have Donal and Goofy with you, but you may switch one out when you enter a world.

Ok, my party currently is Sora, Donal, Goofy. I go to Atlantica. Ariel joins my team (However, she only joins you on KH1.) I have to switch her out with either Donald or Goofy.

And that's the only team customizing feature possible. You go to a world, and sometimes are allowed to get one character on your team, but you have to switch out either Donald or Goofy for them. You're never able to switch out Sora, but you do get to play as Riku if you beat Sora's storyline on Chain of Memories, as well as RE: Chain of Memories, which will be for the PS2 when it comes out.

So this game probably isn't your thing, but it's very entertaining.

Kupo!

Thanks Kupo for the information. It seems to be nearly impossible to find a game with party options similar to FFI. I have been told to try the D&D games for PC's but that has been one of the few suggestions I have been given.
