Playstation Looking for similar games to final fantasy

Hello, like the title says i am looking for a similar type of game to ff on the ps3, I have played games like oblivion etc but they are not my cup of tea. I need something in the realms of ff with a more fixed storline and charecters, any ideas, thanks.
 
You could try these RPGS.

I haven't played any of them (YET) except Dragon Age.

- White Knight Chronicles
- Resonance of Fate
- Valkyria Chronicles
- Dragon Age Origins?
- Star Ocean: The Last Hope International
 
You might want to give Star Ocean: The Last Hope International a look-in. The battle system is real-time, but its far more involving than FFXIII's in my opinion, the storyline is pretty good, and its got plenty in it to keep you going, especially if you're the kind of person who likes to get Platinum trophies for your games.

White Knight Chronicles might be worth considering; its similar to FFXII battle-system wise, has online co-op missions, and its storyline isn't horrendously unbearable, but merely average. Its sequel is just on the horizon, as well.

If you can find it, I'd definetely recommend Eternal Sonata. Battle system is turn-based, but its absolutely gorgeous, and the music is top-notch. The storyline is pretty good, as well. Its not particularly difficult, though - probably the easiest game of those I've mentioned.

Resonance of Fate is something I'd recommend only if you like a challenge to the point of self-mutilation. Its extremely unforgiving of even the slightest of mistakes. However, its got a nice grunge-ish feel to it, and the gun combat is just as flashy as FFXIII's, and you've got more control over it, as well.

Even though you said Oblivion isn't your thing, I'm going to put in a word for Dragon Age: Origins as well. Its Oblivion with a structured battle system, decent and memorable characters and a proper story.
 
Thanks for the recommendations, just checked some screenshots of those games. Going for resonance of fate tomorrow, I wonder how it compares to ff13, it came out the same month so it must be here to rival 13.
 
I'd recommend Eternal Sonata if you want something along the lines of FF. I've only begun playing it now myself, but the story and character are really stellar, along with the whole concept of playing through a dream Chopin had before he dies. Game-play is easy but fun, and the designs might be too childish for some people, but I like them xD
 
I brought Nier today, about to start playing it also have Resonance of Faoith on the way.
