Just wondering, :hmmm: If there was any Final Fantasy characters that you loved at first but then as you started to play the game, you noticed that they're not so grand ?

Please give out detailed answers, otherwise I'll summon Bahamut and he'll blow you away.
:edd:Yeah, don't mess with my wrath. :britt:

Final Fantasy 4. I loved Cecil at first, I was a hardcore Cecil fan. I just loved his personality, felt sorry for his troubles, cheered him on when he did something to overcome his sorrows, and just thought that Cecil was one awesomely and sparkly character. But then he
told Rydia and Rosa to get off the boat because they're women and women are weak.
I now loathe Cecil, and he's now one of my Dissidia punching bags. Rage. :rage:

Final Fantasy 5. At the beginning of the game, Bartz was the immediate favourite. I saw him as a funny and goofy character, and the total opposite hero of Cecil, Cloud, Squall etc. Just a huge big ball of sunshine. But why did he
hurt the old sage turtle for the lols ? NOT FUNNY DUDE, not funny.

Final Fantasy 6. Kefka. I didn't really take him seriously till later in the game, when he started to get serious himself. Till then he was just a rofl of a villain. He skipped along, he made funny quotes, he did funny things that just made me lol. But then a huge storm brew out of nowhere, and he started to one day just be serious and deadly and a not so funny guy anymore, and started to notice that behind the laughter, that he's just one insane psychopath. Looking back I should of started hating him when he
poisoned the river of doma
But I was blinded by his funnies.

Final Fantasy 7. There's nobody that I liked then started to hate here. Oh FF7 arent you just so prefect and wonderful ?
:edd:

Final Fantasy 8. Seifer, oh I loved Seifer. He was my Final Fantasy boyfriend, we loved each other, had babies , held each other hands etc, and then he just slapped my face by turning into a huge jerk. Just betraying the group, being nasty to Squall and the others, and just turning into this jealous and arrogant man. He was no longer my knight and shining amour after that.:sad3:

Final Fantasy 9. Nobody here.

Final Fantasy 10. I liked Tidus at the beginning of the game and saw him as a different and unique sort of character, after Squall and Cloud he was like a breath of fresh air, he was so different compared to them, and he was different from Zidane. But then I felt like his personality was a bit silly, a bit too goofy and a bit too wild for me. He started to feel a bit childish.

Final Fantasy 12. Nobody again.

Final Fantasy 13. I liked Vanille at first. I kinda thought that she was going to be the cute and clumsy sort of character, but then I thought that she had a few moments that were a bit... well, mean. Just my opinion though.

Seymour. Though, I didn't initially think he was badass, but I did admire his personality, as well as the fact that he could summon the coolest summon available...ever. He was well reserved and spoke eloquently of any matter. He carried himself properly, yet you could initially sense something menacing about him. Unfortunately, as the game progressed you found out that he was nothing more than a mere nuisance..definitely not antagonist material.

Well its Yuna.......But I love her (X) and Hate her (X-2).

Im guessing you know where this is going..........

Terra and Yuna I'd say is my fave female characters but without the Yuna in X-2 I would probably of said I love Yuna only. While I was playing X-2 I didn't like her attitude but I convinved myself things will only get better only when something happens. But nothing did to change her attitude,so I do absolutley hate the guts of Yuna in X-2 she does come close to my most hated character in X-2. But her appearence in X makes me love her loads.........and because of that she is my 1st/2nd fave female........but if I picture her in the X-2 outfit she is one of my most hated chracters.

Sephiroth, actually :hmmm: When he was first spoken of early on in FFVII, and then you saw the
dramatic picture of the huge dead serpent that he had killed singlehanded,
I was extremely impressed by the very idea of him. However, when I found out later on that
he had just been a guinea pig for Shinra, he seemed a lot less powerful and impressive to me, and then the whole thing with him being in the block of ice confused me, and I just got irritated with him after that. >.>

I am so worried that I'm going to be burnt at the stake for this one but...

I started Final Fantasy VII quite liking Tifa but as the story went on I felt that this sweet, caring attitude she had at the beginning turned to a nagging worrier towards the end of the game. She became self-centred in a lot of ways, talking about herself and her feelings when it was inappropriate or they couldn't be addressed. Keeping in mind that she's only 20 years old she acts like a mother in her 50s around all other characters and I think she can be mighty patronising!

I don't hate her, I just think that I'd find her annoying to hang around if she was real!

I usually know if I like a character right off the bat however Zidane, Garnet, Lulu, Tifa, were all characters I didn't think I would like at first and then grew on me. However if you are talking about what character I liked at the beginning that I lost respect for as the series continued. I would go with Wakka I liked him at first because he was cool but sometimes he just seemed stupid and a crybaby which I wouldn't have thought of him doing that when I first seen him. Its weird the person above me wouldn't want to hang out with Tifa if she was real because I'm the opposite I wouldn't would think she was cool but Aeris is way to stubborn and always has to have it her way imo.

No this guy^^^^^^ will be burnt at the stake for not liking aeris:lew: Heresy!

Nice thread idea:ryan:

This happens in the reverse for me, as in I hate/loath a character in the initial stages of a game, but then grow to respect them yeah this basically happened with the entire cast of FFXIII:lew:

All of them were just grrrrr, but then 2 mon ths of not playing the game and I played it to the end by having Fang as my main Fighter really opened my eyes to the depth of each character even the whiny little bitch Hope.

So then when finshed FFXIII I traded it in for some other game, tried to find it again on EBAY, eventually got it from the local game store, now Im replaying it and the character are familiar and there is none of the angst i had the first time through.

Wakka is a character that I could not stand in the beginning but once he got that Yevon pole from outta his ass he was an all right dude, guy fights with a blitzball whats not to like?.

I think that it? Well i hate Vaan, the rest of FFXII crew are adequate.

Mine was Sephiroth. And not because he turned to shit in the game, it was more because of his fanbase!! you can not say a bad word about this guy without his minions tearing your face off. Sorry Sephy, you're just not awesome to me anymore

The thing about Cecil, he was sort of brainwashed into thinking that way- at least that's how I saw it- and it's pretty difficult to get rid of thoughts like that when they are imbedded into your very being

Anyway, the one I liked was Lady Yunalesca. I thought she must have been amazing because Yuna's named after her and she was the original high summoner, the first to defeat Sin, so I was just in awe of her, until I met her. Answer? Never meet your heroes, you'll always be disappointed...

I held some respect for Seymour in Final Fantasy X during the first 20 odd hours (up until Macalania temple, if I remember rightly), but now I absolutely detest him! :hmph: As opposed to a wise guide who selflessly aids Yuna, he's an utter slimeball! :lew:

My opinion of Vanille was a bit up and down throughout FF XIII... At first, I thought she held a lot of potential, but her funny noises (and having them pointed out online!) made me lose a lot of respect for her. >_< Later on, when she talks to Fang in Pulse about what happened, I respected her, but lost interest in her quickly as she didn't really mature... Then the ending hit me! Now I think Vanille, whilst a little annoying, is incredibly brave. :lew:

Snow is a less complex case for me. He was alright in XIII - a little obnoxious perhaps, but he had a warm heart which redeemed him and which won my vote in terms of him marrying Serah. In XIII-2, however... He basically told Noel that Serah was his! :rage: That did it! The one time he met Serah, he lay claim to her and put on some bravado act against the guy who'd been taking care of her?!?!

I'd also quite like to mention one character whom I used to dislike but now love: Sephiroth. I'd always thought of him as over-rated. I didn't find him particularly interesting in Advent Children and haven't seen anything unique in VII (yet), but I loved him in Crisis Core! Having seen his backstory in detail, I feel he's a little bit more human. ^.^
