Well wanted to see if anyone beat the Luca Goers in that horrible odds stacked against you match or did you lose horribly? My first time every playing blitzball the Goers pretty much thrashed my ass but after playing blitzball throughout the game and starting a new game it was still difficult but much easier than before especially since this time i had the Jecht Shot from the scene on the boat this time round.
 
Yeah i make sure to win it. Jecht shot is a life saver in that match without it youd be screwed. I find it annoying that they remove Tidus from play 3 mins into the second half, usually interupting a goal which is only metres away from the net. The prize is worth winning but its also a matter of pride.
 
Nope, never, even after I knew what I was doing on my next playthrough I still couildnt do it, no matter how many times I reset the damn thing, so I just gave up in the end. All yuo get is a shitty trophy anyway, my annoying mate did it <_<

Ya defintely Jecht shot only reason I won even then was only 5-3 but hey its a guy thing gotta win it just because
 
You also get a +4 strenght sperhe for Auron. The annoying thing about this match is once the goers get the ball it seems like its impossible to take it off them. Ur stupid attack never does the damage thats it meant too. And their shot seems to decrease a lot slower over distances than your team. The computer cheats.
 
I agree! first time i got totally dicked on.and I only had sphere shot, which is all well and good, but Jecht takes two defenders out of the game. defo the way to go! And maybe it is a matter of pride. but also it's good to beat the sneering bickson!:P
 
Computer always cheats lol I think they have that one ability that slows down pass and shots by like half. Can't remember the name of the skill but I have it on my good blitz team save file where I played Blitz like 4 hours a day when it came out.
 
Never bothered with Blitzball on my first few playthroughs, so just lost that game without trying.

Then started getting into it, so restarted and still lost, hit the reset button and tried again, and won. B)
 
My first time playing through, I got slaughtered. It took me a couple of tries for me to finally beat them. Now, I know the secrets for how to beat them.
 
You wanna know whats funny, I always seemed to win this. And without the Jecht shot. In fact I dont think I ever got the Jecht shot, I just could never get it right for some reason. But I still kicked some serious ass, as long as I had Wakka and Brother on my team.
 
Yeah same here i got thrashed like 7-0 the 1st time =/ but when i started again i got and got jecht shot i beat em.
But then i started again so i could get blitz ace in kilika (witch i did :P) i couldnt beat em the scores were like 2-1 >_<
 
The first time I played against them, I didn't get the jecht sht eventhough I thought I did everything right. PS2 cheats!!! xD
But now I restarted and I will own them all !!!!! xD
 
Jecht shot is the only way. I can't remember the prize but I was only able to do it once. I got pretty pissed when I saw that loser Wakka try to make a shot, I was sure Tidus would make, and miss. But I beat it once and you get a big trophy I remember that much.

...how do you get Brother on your team for the very first tournament? It's before you ever meet him.

I always just hit reset until I win. It takes several tries, usually, because I'm sure the computer does... embellish the stats of the Goers while the game is in progress. I say this because the numbers rarely ever add up to be accurate for my losing passes and shots, and because when I'd play the Goers AFTER the tournament, they are easy.
 
I've played the game through 3 times and I have yet to win that stupid thing. The first time through I didn't get the Jecht shot but the 2nd and 3rd times I did have it. Still no luck. I even replayed it a few times to try and get it but I couldn't get it together enough to win it. Not really sure why... but it's a shame because I've always wanted to.
 
I've been able to beat them the last few times I've played through the game. There definately is some luck involved though. Use Tidus and stall the clock if you get ahead, make sure you score before 3 minutes in the second half as well. It is hard though, their team is better than yours.

The strength sphere helps a lot though. Wakka, Tidus, or Auron (maybe kimahri) become much better. Or you can mix a chaos grenade (grenade and strength sphere is one way) which is a nice way to do 9999 early.
 
I always lose horribly against the Luca goers ;-; I've never actually taken the time to learn how to play blitzball though, so that's the reason why I fail so horribly. I'm thinking about playing a few games on my current game save just so I can get the basics down, then I might try to win that first match again. I'd like to win it at least once.

The best I ever did I think was score one goal XD The goers then proceeded to score three, however -__-
 
The Goers do cheat which isn't cool, however I managed to get a real good game out of them, losing like 3-2 in the final. I would have done far better had I known you could turn off automatic movement...Only realised after the game it was like Triangle to change to manual controls.
 
No I wasn't able to beat them, I was pretty shit at blitzball, I never took the time to learn how to play it. I also missed out on getting the Jecht Shot. I didn't bother resetting and trying again, losing didn't bother me too much.
 
beat them? woah i can only dream doing that... they were too good. But when i beated the game i started playing alot and bought/contracted the best players from the other teams.
You could call it a dream team i guess, it was awesome.

*thinks back to the good ol' days*
