So, does anyone want to tell me what luck does in the FF games? It's there, but, does it even do anything to help you? Please explain...

Discuss: Luck

I've always wondered this myself. Here's what it says at the FF Wiki:

Luck is a recurring stat in the Final Fantasy series, although it is not as common as other stats. It usually affects things such as critical hits and finding rare items, but also can influence other stats like Evasion and Accuracy. In other games, where there is no luck stat, there are other stats which determine these.

I have no clue where they got the info from though, so I'm not saying it's accurate.

Hrmm...I always seen luck as to weather you will end up getting lucky and winning a very hard battle or something of that sort. lmao.

Luck does affect those things which the FF Wiki mentions, but it's really unimportant to win the game. Other stats like strength, defense, etc. are vital. Luck is kinda like a bonus stat.

Haha yeah, it's pretty ambiguous as to what that stat really does. I mean it could increase your chances of getting rare items but there's also a chance that you won't, but it's still pretty necessary unless you want to get through the game with average equipment. xD

Luck is the gheyest thing ever. I've cheated and gotten Max luck, but nothing never happened. I think I died more times than I ever lived in FFVII when I did that. :monster:

i actually do think its just for critical hits and stuff but who knows about the rare items things? everyone in your party has different luck usually so i donno..mind u the luck of ur party could add up to get rare items after battle

I always assumed that luck possibly contributed to the chance of getting a critical hit; but that really is just a guess!
As well as this, I thought luck could determine the rarity of items you receive after battle.

Luck actually affects everything in the game, whether be what items you get and gold at end of battles, critical hits, encounter rates.

I know that Luck in FFVII increases a better chance to manipulate monsters.

I think Luck also effects a higher chance of stealing an item quicker.

Doesn't it affect the items etc that you get, i'm pretty sure the higher your luck the more often odin appears in FFVIII, i think if your luck was suddenly wiped it would affect you alot more than you would expect in battle and wotnot....

Yeah, I’ve always found it pretty vague (description wise) as to what the Luck stat does in each FF that it appears in, but for the most part, it pretty much increases the rate and stats of strength, defense, hit rate success, finding rate items and so on. Either way, I always loved it as a stat, aside from the strength stat; it’s one of the other stats concentrate on maxing first...

In FFVII and FFX Luck increases your critical hit rate, I don't know whether it affects anything else

I have NEVER wondered that...what else could it be but the stuff mentioned? It's just a modifier they let you see instead of keeping it hidden. *cough*Pokémon*cough*EVs*cough*

>_>

Could luck give me more chances in getting power generator from Blitz?

Possibly, altho it would help to have that rare item thing equipped, do you learn it from bahamut....?

I think I only ever got a power generator once from a blitz, I swear, those things are more elusive than bloody energy crystals....

I just get mine from the Lunatic Pandora...sadly I always seem to need 2 because I want to refine it into pulse ammo/or energy crystals, what ever it gives you. Altho, it's not that great an attack for Quistis anyway *shrugs*

Luck works for lots of things. The most useful thing it did was increase critical strike chance.

In the early stages of FFVII it was pretty useful too for Deathblow.

I never really much cared for luck, though I never remembered that it affected the critical hit rate. Whenever I thought of luck, I thought of chances to steal and sweet items and all that. I liked it for its mysteriousness. :D
