Multiple Platforms Mortal Kombat

Skarlet looks like she has a pretty decent design :awesome:

Am I the only one who is getting irritated with the fad of having DLC for the new games? Its sad enough they charge like $59.99 initially for the game...and then they throw out new characters or oufits and they charge for them.

Anyways, she looks cool but I won't be getting her. I wish they would've made her as an unlockable :(

Rain doesn't interest me at all. He looks a bit boring and his design is meh.

Here are two new fatality wallpapers from two of the DLC fighters Skarlet and Kenshi.

Also here is a magazine scan confirming three fighters that will be released as DLC. This not the only DLC fighters that will be released for the new Mortal Kombat. Rain and a new fighter will also be released as DLC in july.

Today marked another milestone for the Mortal Kombat franichse with the launch of Mortal Kombat (2011)’s second downloadable character, Kenshi. While he was available early this morning for PlayStation 3 owners, the same cannot be said for Xbox 360 players as the regular morning Xbox Live update did not occur. Sources close to Warner Bros. are pointing to tomorrow as a revised release date for the remainder of the kommunity.

As always, Kamidogu is proud to present a thorough and complete guide to the blind swordsman himself. Our site now houses his biography and full moves list, as well as his ladder ending and finishing moves captured in high definition. All of this content is available both on our web site and also through our iOS app for your convenience.

NetherRealm Studios also sent us some Kenshi-related artwork to coincide with his release, ranging from concept art to his final render.

Finally, a fourth episode of the popular MKast was released today featuring regulars Paulo Garcia, Tony Zeffiro and Erin Piepergerdes. The trio describe Kenshi’s origins, and give a brief rundown of his special moves and “Scatterbrained” Fatality.

With Kenshi’s release out of the way, NetherRealm Studios are turning their attention to the next kombatant set to enter the Mortal Kombat (2011) arena, Rain. Expected to be released in late July, he is the third of four announced downloadable characters for the game.

Making his debut in the arcade version of Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, he appeared in the game’s attract mode as a new addition to the franchise’s palette-swap ninjas. It was not until the console ports of the game that he actually became playable. His initial re-introduction in Mortal Kombat Armageddon was met with mixed reactions, and thus was the only original character from the series’ early days to not make the final cut in Mortal Kombat (2011).

GameSpot have exclusively unveiled a new gameplay trailer from Mortal Kombat (2011) featuring the purple ninja Rain. Making his Mortal Kombat debut in Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, the former Edenian prince shows off his updated moveset, comprising of a number of new takes on his classic skills. He maintains his ability to harness water, with his Super Roundhouse and Lightning attacks also making a comeback.

Set to become Mortal Kombat (2011)’s third downloadable character, Rain will be made available starting July 19 on both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. As always, Kamidogu will strive to bring you full coverage of the latest warrior to enter the arena soon after his release.

I have to say I'm really enjoying the DLC characters quite a bit thus far. Kenshi is interesting and Skarlet is really fun to play as. I can't wait to play as Rain now. Rain is another one of my favorites I'm sure he'll be worth the price.

Rain is quite awesome. This is the DLC I was waiting for. Now, I just need Cyber Smoke (if it'll even happen). Rain also needs a Klassic Costume like the other ninjas.

I was thinking about how interesting it would be for some what-if characters and that would include giving Scorpion, Ermac, Noob Saibot, and Rain into cyborg forms. Of course, Scorpion and Ermac would have to look completely different from Cyrax and Sektor.

With Rain now available for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, NetherRealm Studios have released a new episode of their popular MKast series focusing on the purple ninja himself.

Hosted by Hunter Schulz, Rick Chase and Matt Grimm, the trio set out to describe the reasoning behind his current appearance, and what exactly was involved in creating the water-based sound effects behind his special attacks.

In addition, Kamidogu has also received a number of Rain-related artwork, ranging from concept art to images from his ladder ending.

It came as a shock to many, but it is official: Freddy Krueger, the protagonist from the Nightmare on Elm Street horror films, will make an appearance as Mortal Kombat (2011)’s fourth and perhaps final downloadable character.

A malevolent spirit of the Dream Realm, Freddy Krueger preys on the souls of the living as they sleep. When Shao Kahn began to steal Earthrealm’s souls — souls Freddy considered his own — Freddy battled the emperor in the Dream Realm. But Shao Kahn’s will was too strong. He pulled Freddy into the real world, where he was mortal, and defeated him. A badly injured yet determined Freddy fitted both his hands with demonically enhanced razor gloves. Once he has killed Shao Kahn he will find a way back to the Dream Realm, where he will torment Earthrealm’s souls for eternity.
Sporting a pair of his signature metal-clawed leather gloves, Freddy Krueger is set to become one of the most disturbing characters to grace the Mortal Kombat franchise in years. With a hideously disfigured face not dissimilar to that of Kabal, Freddy is sure to become a hit when he is made available on August 9.

Freddy Krueger? 8( Honestly I can't say I saw that coming at all. Oh well I liked some of his movies, he fits pretty well, and he looks interesting gameplay wise so I'll probably buy him and try him.

I haven't bought Rain yet but if things go well I may be able to tomorrow.

... Mind went blank with Freddy Krueger. Why couldn't they just put him inside the game instead Kratos in the first place? (lol, don't get me wrong, I wanted to play Kratos too, but since I don't own a PS3...)

I'm going to buy this MK, yes, and I'm just gonna do it to download Freddy. Never expected to see the guy of my childhood nightmares coming into my childhood videogame...

Wow. When I heard this I was pretty flippin excited! =D! I cannot wait to DL Freddy as a playable character in MK.

Side Note: Anyone notice that if you play with Kitana and go into the Shao Kahn stage you can see Skarlet chained on one side but instead of Kitana being chained on the other it's Tanya. I was reading on a website and it said she is rumored and anticipated on being in this MK as a DLC character as well.

After several weeks of speculating, NetherRealm Studios have officially revealed the Klassic costumes being released alongside Freddy Krueger next week.

Appearing in two different forms, Kuai Liang (a.k.a. Sub-Zero) is ready to fight in his klassic cybernetic attire, as well as a costume inspired by both his Mortal Kombat 3 unmasked appearance, and his Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 ninja attire. As always, both costumes will be available for free via Mortal Kombat (2011)’s fourth compatibility pack for those who will not be purchasing Freddy Krueger.

Update#1

NetherRealm Studios have released a plethora of Freddy Krueger treats today to promote his Mortal Kombat (2011) debut tomorrow. First is Freddy Krueger’s vignette, explaining his sudden and mortal appearance in the new game. Click here to be brought to G4TV’s exclusive video.

Next up, coming exclusively from IGN, is a creepy TV spot featuring Freddy and some of the MK cast. Bringing back haunting memories for those of us old enough, this video features little children singing the chilling nursery rhyme "Freddy's Coming For You".

Finally, we have the official render of the "Son of a Hundred Maniacs." Fans of the Nightmare on Elm Street series will notice that this incarnation closely resembles his appearance in the latest movie, 2010's reboot of the franchise.

With Freddy Krueger now available for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles, NetherRealm Studios have released their newest episode of their popular MKast series focusing on the Springwood Slasher.

Hosted by John Vogel, Michael Caisley and Fredy Palma, the episode explains Freddy's appearance, how they created his signature glove sound effects, and the work behind his personality, fighting style and animation.

Freddy Krueger is available today on Microsoft Xbox LIVE for 400 Microsoft Points or for download as part of the Microsoft Season Pass. He is also available for $4.99 on the PlayStation Network, or as part of the newly released “Mortal Kombat DLC Warrior Bundle” where all four DLC characters can be purchased for only $14.99. Additionally, available today for both systems is a free compatibility pack featuring two additional skins – a classic-inspired never-before-seen Cyber Sub-Zero and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3-inspired Sub-Zero.

Good God I went online for the first time and it was ridiculous :rage:
People are way too good in a way, but on the other hand its a hand few moves and 1 or 2 supreme combo"s these people do! Its tedious. They always seem to choose 1 char as well.....Scorpion is a bitch... arghh online is evil...

I hate the game for its simplicity..... :rage:

Earlier last month the British Board of Film Classifications classified a previously unheard of Mortal Kombat game, subtitled Komplete Edition. Thought to be the culmination of Mortal Kombat (2011) and the downloadable content that followed, the game has a supposed release date of February 17.

More potential evidence surfaced this morning with the above UK packshot making the rounds on social networking sites Facebook and Twitter. Real or fake? You decide.

The game contains the core title as well as previously released DLC with fab-favorites Skarlet, Kenshi and Rain, and Freddy Krueger. It also offers 15 Klassic Skins and three Klassic Fatalities for Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Reptile.

Mortal Kombat Komplete Edition will be available in the US on February 28 and in the UK on March 2 for £29.99 on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Warner Bros. banked on Vita’s screen to get Mortal Kombat to Oz

Mortal Kombat: Game of the Year Edition has been refused classification in Australia, despite Warner Bros.’s hopes for the portable fighter.

20120309mortalkombat.jpg

In a statement given to Player Attack, Warner Bros. explained why it thought the Vita version would make it past Australia’s Classification Board:

“Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment submitted Mortal Kombat Vita for classification to the Australian Classification Board as we believed that the smaller screen of the PlayStation Vita greatly reduced the impact of violence,” the publisher wrote.

“This view was not shared by the Australian Classification Board and as such has been Refused Classification in Australia.”

Mortal Kombat: Game of the Year Edition is the Vita release of the popular PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 fighter, which was twice refused classification in Australia.

Australia’s highest ratings category for video games is MA15+, and games with content considered too mature for this category are not classified, meaning they cannot be retailed within the country.

Classification reform to bring video games ratings in line with film and other media has been the subject of debate for many years, and a bill to do just that has been heartily recommended by a House of Representatives inquiry committee.

The Vita’s region-free game cards mean Australians won’t encounter many barriers to getting hold of the game should they choose to do so, although importing RC materials can have legal ramifications.

Mortal Kombat hits Vita May 1

The Vita version of Mortal Kombat, complete with 150 new Vita-centric Challenge Tower missions, touchscreen fatalities and the console version's DLC characters, will be available in North American on May 1.

Seeing as Mortal Kombat is part of the official EVO 2012 tournament selection, this may be a good way to squeeze in every possible second of combo practice during your daily routine. It's also a much cleaner, less illegal way to murder people while on crowded public transportation.
