Most challenging FF game

My vote definitely goes to the old school titles. Out of all the titles that I've played FFV was one of the hardest in my opinion followed by FFIV.

FFV and FFIII are the hardest. job systems really really suck. its so hard choosing the correct jobs and mixing abilities and stuff :/ hate it.

yeah that just adds to the whole difficulty thing in FFIII. its really really annoying, especially since it makes you re-load a saved game instead of sending you back to an inn. you also can't buy Phoenix downs >< so FFIII is a pretty damn hard game.

FF5 for me. I have no idea why but teh boss battles felt more difficult thewn in other games. I usually still managed to win, but it was just more difficult

FFIII isn't that hard, well I didn't find it too hard. At final boss, but at the moment, I haven't really been bothered to go for it yet. Have a good white mage. Essential.

I would have to say FFVIII, just because it's the only one I've never beaten. Not because of any difficulty issues, just because of that damn junction system and the fact that by Esthar I was hugely leveled, which meant all my enemies were too. The mechanics of that game were just godawful, and who knows if I'll ever give it another shot.

It Would have to be VII for me because It was the first one I ever played and I was rather young. Hashmal in XII is solid though.

I found ff4 and ff3 the hardest because of the bosses to doing WAAAAAY too high damage and you have WAAAAAAAAAAY too low health

Final Fantasy 5 the Final Fantasy 6 then Final Fantasy 8 and the most hardest:Final Fantasy 10

Mod Edit

Please say WHY you found them challenging, thank you

I and II were pretty hard to me, mainly because of all the random encounters. It seemed like every time I moved my character up two steps, I was thrown into one >_> The high cost of weapons, items, and magic was annoying as well.

Non-main game wise, Tactics is definately the hardest. I've been playing it for a good while now, and I'm not far into it at all :gasp: The battles are killer.

Final Fantasy V Advance - This FF is pretty famous for having two of the most badass bosses in FF history, Omega and Shinryu, however in the Advance version they added more two new versions of this super bosses, Omega MKII and Neo Shinryu.

Neo Shinryu - is fast as hell and his Magic attacks are extremely deadly.
Without a very fast, defensive and high leveled up party, he makes you never want to play the game again, as he attacks you +3 times for each one of your turn and most attacks go above 5000 damage.

Omega MKII - Before fighting him, you need to beat 10 Omegas (same stats as the original) -__- when you face him, he has Auto-Elixir, each attack you land on him, it will Auto-Recover with an Elixir and counter-attacks you with everything he has.
He loves to Spam the worst FF attack ever created "Encircle".

Final Fantasy XII - Rare Game hunting, Rare monsters, low rate of stealing/drops and two of the most difficult battles on FF, make this game an true, long, difficult and annoying challenge. Not to mention the battles against Omega MKXII and Yiazmat.

Final Fantasy X - Defeating Nemesis, Dark Aeons and Penance were one of the most challenging matches I had, and everything without the broken, Zanmato -__-

Well, I'll suppose the hardest would be FFV Advance, for the two bosses as mentioned above. They certainly drove me nuts when i encountered them for the first time.

Being unprepared, I got killed the moment i got into battle. (And it was totally unexpected too, for Neo Shinryu)

And, embarrassingly, up to this date, I'm still trying to defeat them. -_-

I have pesonally found III and IV to be really hard since you have to do a lot of grinding in the games just to get by the dungeons and bosses.

XII was also pretty hard, I've struggled at times at against some of the storyline bosses. Also quite a few of the hunts ain't exactly easy either if you tackle them underlevelled or don't have the right strageties for them.

FFV almost KILLED me and Im not kidding, it was so hard, I got my arse handed to me by pretty much evry single boss, and some of the strategies you had to use I was just like WOT? Id of never figured half of it out if I didnt give up and use the guide :wacky:

Im pretty sure Id still be stuck on those things you have to kill simultaniously, if I hadnt died of a heart attack already that is. And the dungeons pecked my head, I was forever falling down STUPID holes

For me, the only Final Fantasy I found to been challenging was XII, all because the battle system was completely different from the others. I had my few shares of "Game Over" in this one compare to the others.

Well Im going to say that FFIII and IV were both hard for me. I beat them both...but it took a long time for them..I used the nintendo DS. The problem with 4 was that many of the bosses really had their own tests. Also I never used a walkthrough.

Now number 3 I had trouble with from the start. Not because htings were too hard..but because everywhere I seem to go everything was over my level and I would get smacked down by random battle. Even outside the village lol...AT THE START!!! lolol. If you walk through that tiny little forest without taking the ship...BAM dead. So It takes being cautious.

Final Fantasy II - This game is the hardest game I have ever played. I don't like grinding much so I was 'destroyed' by later random encounters. At the final dungeon I had to restart the game 2/3 times because I get an impossible to beat enemy. I also had problems with escaping any fight, so escaping was out of the question.

Final Fantasy Tactics - This game is pretty hard, too. I haven't played it much, but still it is hard!

It is pretty bad when games go from challenging difficulty, to an almost impossible difficulty.
Final Fantasy VI
is one of the games that is balanced and challenging.
