So when the Al Bhed home land is being blown up, Wakka delivers this wonderful line to Cid in order to make him feel better. It goes something like this...

"Hmm, it's like pretty fireworks!"

Is that one of the most insensitive lines ever said in a video game? It's so out there and obnoxious that it kind of makes me laugh.

I agree with you on that, but Wakka was just trying to cheer Rikku up, and I guess Wakka being the type to be lacking in the imagination department, that's the best thing he could come up with OTL He really should have kept his mouth shut :XD:

Are you kidding, he really said that? :ffs: I've only played it once so I don't remember, but wow. That's probably one of the most insensitive things I've ever heard in a game O_O For me it would be a close one between that and
Tidus's behavior at the end where he doesn't even tell Yuna he loves her when he leaves--I've always seen that as him being kind of an insensitive jerk as well XD
I feel like there was something else in the game too, but I can't remember it atm.

That was a pretty low blow from Wakka. I understand that he was just trying to cheer up Rikku and Cid but, he probably would have been better off not saying anything at all. It's one of those things where you don't think before you say something. I guess thats the type of dude Wakka is. I'm sure though after Rikku's reply, he felt bad. Shit, I would if I were him.

I can't think of any quotes at the top of my head that was insebsitive but, that one was pretty damn insensitive.

The funny thing about that was after he said that and Rikku starts crying again he says to himself "Why do I even open my mouth."

That line was pretty harsh, but it almost seemed like Wakka wasn't trying to be mean or anything, so any offense he caused was probably an accident.

One I can think of that, to me, is more insensitive, is in FF8, when Squall and Quistis meet at the place at the other end of the Training Area, and Squall tells her to go talk to a wall. I mean, I understand why Squall said it...but still, the poor girl just needed SOME comfort.

Another reason why Squall doesn't come close to Zidane as a main character. There is no way Zidane would have said that to any girl let alone someone hot.

Zidane had his lacking qualities too. He was a womanizer..womanizer womanizer. Sorry. :awesome:

Anyway, the line was insensitive but it fit Wakka's character. He never seemed to have a lot of social grace and it does seem like something you would say without thinking at a time like that. There's no doubt it was insensitive though.

I can't remember the exact set of lines from the game, but I give this honor to Lulu and how she talked to Wakka.

A bit into the game she makes a few remarks where it seems like she is dead-set on pinning
Chappu's death on Wakka
. His actions, decisions, and relationship with his brother drove him to go fight Sin
and lead to his eventual death. I think that Lulu obviously feels a great amount of remorse for losing her fiance/lover, but I think she fails to take into consideration that Wakka was close if not closer to Chappu than anyone else, including her.

So while I do overall like Lulu, I wouldn't have taken much of her shit when she scolded Wakka about losing his bro, when deep down he's feelin' the pain too.

No other characters besides Wakka said the insensitive dialogues throughout the game(I guess).

The First One:
Wakka: Hey look, don't get so down. Boom! Like happy festival fireworks, ya?
Rikku: You can cram your own festival you big meanie!

Second one:(after returning to Bevelle the second time)

Wakka: Disappear on us will ya? Rotten son of a shoopuf!
