So in your personal opinion, because i was just wondering why so many games on the xbox seemed to be hit or miss, i was just wondering, what games do you think on the xbox and the 360 are the most overrated games?

I was thinking that Halo 3 was somewhere around the top of my list. The fan base just blows everything for it way out of proportion, and while i like the game, it is spoiled by the 12 year olds screaming into their headsets "I own your mom" and such.

Then of course there is the matter of Bioshock, Oblivion, and those other few games that were just way too hyped up for their own good.

Halo was the best FPS since Goldeneye. Before Halo, many FPS were ported to the PC and not all gamers can afford a nice gaming PC. Since Halo, many FPS games started porting to consoles. It opened up a new audience of fans. Thanks to Halo, many great FPS games are being ported to consoles now.

I do agree it's rather overrated but it can be really fun when playing with a group of friends. I see it as the Super Smash Brothers of Xbox.

I don't agree that Bioshock and Oblivion were hyped up for their own good. Both games were on the PC and re-released for the PS3, so they're not Xbox exclusive really. Besides that, Oblivion is more like a cult hit. It's a massive game with gorgeous graphics. I've played it for a while, but it's not my type of game. (Kinda boring tbh.) As for Bioshock, come on, that game is amazing. It well deserves it's hype.

As for most overrated Xbox games...? Probably Halo 3. While it was a huge hit, I did hear a lot of critism from friends of mine.

Gears of War - Probably the most overrated Xbox 360 game atm. XD

Perfect Dark Zero - Before it's release it was really hyped up. I remember working at Gamestop and having many ADs up for this game. PDZ isn't that great. :/

yeah halo 3 was overrated it was good for the 6 hour campaign but after 2 days it go boring gow2 was a bit of a letdown and in my opinion gta4 has been so hyped up and it just plain sucked:holyshit: yeah i said it lol

Thank you! Some one actually said it. I'm so tired of people say, "Oh GTA4 is so badass. You can go online with it and kill people with your friends!"

Blacksite: Area 51 was horrid. There have been few games on the 360 that have impressed me. Everything else...blows.:jon:

I find that Halo 3 is just too overrated like I mean almost the whole world plays it but do you find it gets boring sometimes. I bet Halo is just too popular and thats why its overrated. Gears of war 2 in my opinion is better than halo 3.

not owning an xbox or 360 i haven't played many games for it...but in watching TV and keeping an eye on the web...i believe the 360 as a system is being over hyped. All the commercials(like the ones were you see the persons face and then it goes around to show their empty head...I think Microsoft over-extended themselves with the system and is now trying to compensate by advertising and trying to hype it up to what it really isn't.

~~Edit~~

Also I believe that the xbox is taking away form the quality of games being released on the PS3...the PS3 has so much more processing and graphic power, plus the bonus of a 50gig disk rather then a 8gig on the 360. Companies that want to release thier game on both systems are limited by the cabilities of the 360. I beleive this is another reason microsoft is advertising so hard is that the need to keep selling systems, so game companies with continue to make games for it and not work with the PS3 because of the almost unlimited creativy that it gives game producers.

Hahaha I was beginning to think I was the only Xbox owner on the planet who wasn't a Halo worshipper, but it looks like I'm not alone after all! Apart from Halo though, I have to mention Lost Odyssey. I think that a lot of people are trying to convince themselves that this game is better than it really is, just because it's Hironobu Sakaguchi at the helm. Personally I was actually hoping that with Mistwalker, Sakaguchi would pick up where he left with Final Fantasy X, but so far I am not all that impressed.

Not to get too far off topic here, but I have never raid any article from a reliable source stating that the PS3 should be much more powerful than the Xbox 360. Just out of curiosity, do you mind posting a source?

I don't know what most of the stuff here means but the thing i noticed that was similar was the System floating point performance, and that is the ability of the system to perform math, if i interpreted the Wikipedia definition right, according to these specs the ps3 has double that of the 360...feel free to correct me

Yeah on the paper the PS3 has a much higher System Floating Performance, but to be honest with you, I still haven't seen anything game-wise which should lead to me to believe that the PS3 should be that much more powerful when the system is actually running. I think you should read this article: http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/post.php?id=1462671
It brings up some quite interesting things about the total system performance of both systems. I'm not saying that you are wrong or anything. Sony has said for a long time that the superioty of the PS3 over the 360 will only really be seen in the long run, but I'll believe it when I see it.

Until then, I'll say that the 2 systems are pretty damn close :)

Even though Halo 3 may be overrated, it's also one of the biggest games going. It is the star game for Major League Gaming, allowing people to win up to 70 grand in first prize. I love the game and the whole idea of it. Halo 2 would be my favorite though.

I think GTA games are the most overrated, I hate the idea and they just needed a game for those ganster wannabees and all that jazz.

This is a thread about the most overrated Xbox game, not about how the PS3 compares to the xbox360.
Whilst there certainly is a comparison to be made, please make the actual topic the focus of your post.
Any further off topic posts will be deleted. Thank you.

Halo 3 - too many fanboys wishing they could make it big in MLG
COD:WAW - terrible game compared to modern warfare. ww2 was boring after the second game.

On response to the people in this thread:

Oh come on guys :P

Halo 3 overrated?
As a huge Halo 3 fan (i'm playing since it's release for like two hours per day :P ) i would say that, that game is the best game in terms of Multiplayer and FPS that the 360 has to offer. You just have to play with your friends ;)

Well anyway one game that would be overrated for 360 is Gears of War.
I mean they hyped it being the best game ever yay!111!! but it's not THAT great.
The Multiplayer sucks, it leaves with so little options, it lacks fun factor and the campaign...well it is kinda boring :P

Halo series.
Bungie got hit with over 60 different copyright infringement sues for the making of this game.
The bigger ones were from Nintendo, Rare, and who ever makes resident evil.
Nintendo sued because master chief's original armor was a very close copy of samus's armor. Rare bought rights to make a game of a book called Ringworld; Halo was based off of this book. And the makers of resident evil got a law suit in because the flood tended to look like their zombies. All in all the game has nothing oringinal, and there were better games out there like gears of war.

I'm a 48, but it's all about the customssssss. :sup:

Hehe, that the spirit ;))

We are 9th with my Team on Gamebattles EU ladder and i'm just loving it everytime we play a match!

Hey, what about to send me a friend request to play some Halo one day?
Hehe, i 've never played with a girl before in Halo 3 and it would be awesome to witness people's reactions in Matchmaking about that stuff :P
GT: Final Weapon Gr btw!

I was playing with a male friend on Team Doubles once. We were Green Team and Red Team was the only other one of the lot with mics. They were trash talkers, and since we had mics, directed said trash talking talents towards us. Now, I'm not an aggressive person. I'm a measly rank 21 in Team Objective, 18 in Lone Wolves, 9 in Team Slayer. It was a sword game though, and I was not very bad with swords then, and I was annoyed by their unceasing talking so I did mild insults of my own.

By mild insults I mean really really mild stuff like "Look behind you next time, buddy." and "That's right, who's dead now?" Like, four or five times -max-, out of 17 kills.

In the post-game lobby they started frothing and directed their speech at my friend for some reason, yet trying to insult us both by tagging me as his girlfriend. It was amusing.

I haven't been told to go make a sammich lately though, so I'm guessing people have realized that old joke's dead? Or maybe I've just been playing with a more mature group of players by skill. I dunno.

On topic wise, I was rather disappointed by Assassin's Creed. I tried playing once, wondered why Altair couldn't swim, wondered why Altair kept jumping off in the utterly wrong direction, and why I should trust pigeons with leaps of faith, then just gave up after not knowing what the hell to do in the first big city. I want to say Damascus, but I'm not sure. The only reason I haven't returned the game is because I'm holding out that someday there'll be a really obvious clue as to what I'm supposed to do and it'll be simple, but that patience is wearing fast.

Gow2 WAS overhyped until everybody started bitching about the new mechanics..big disappointment. halo 3 yeah it was overrated yet its still going strong to this day, and its going to keep it that way for awhile since H3R is coming out soon. bioshock lived up to to the hype..awesome game and still my fav on the 360.
