Multi-Disk

Not really sure how having one disk compared to 3 or 4 can make a game better, but that's just how technology rolls nowadays.

It was cool knowing that you were 1/4 of the way, or 1/2 way through a game when the game told you to enter the next disc though. It made me feel that my %-age of progress was really speeding up and I was actually getting close to the end of the game. However, with 1 disc, it shows how powerful the systems are getting and how FF is adapting to the future with the current and next generations of consoles.

GIve me as many discs as you want; I'm fine either way.

IMO mulit disk was more to look forward to. You were driven and determined to complete a disk to advance onto a second one. Hence why I love 8 as it has 4 disks. 1 disks arent as thrilling IMO.

The final disc was usually just the final boss (Or extra things you could do) and I always felt a sense of achievement when I reached the final disc.

The number of discs don't make any difference to gameplay... The later games that are on one disc can hold more information because it can be on a DVD format. Same exact length game, fewer discs. I think you forgot that the PS1 needed multiple discs to hold information due to the smaller capacity of said discs.

As for the argument saying that multiple discs have a disadvantage because if you scratch one of them you're screwed... No. If a game only has one disc and you scratch that... you cannot play at all. As opposed to if you have 4... you can simply load up an old save point and replay some parts for awhile.

But I can completely agree that when you finish a disc, there is a sense of accomplishment. I go YAY, I'm this far done. On the other hand... it takes away the mystery. If there is one disc I never know when the game will end or how long it will be.

WEll, if it's on DVD format, why not make the game longer!? lol.

Have more gamplay that way. It would be something to look forward too in the future.

Haha... well, production costs are increasing with each new system, so most companies are concentrating on making games that are "short and sweet." So, maybe to them fitting 4 discs into one was a good accomplishment. And there really hasn't been much of a cry out for lenghtier (sp?) games as of late, for some reason. People have been liking the shorter ones that can be beaten in under 20 hours. With the exception of games like Oblivion, anyway.

And in one sense... the games are longer. Jsut look at FFX and XII. People have clocked well over 100+ hours in both of those games. So maybe thats all we're gonna get.

Well, that's probably due to the sidequests and the ultimate weapons.

I say we want more story. I know I do. I want to see a longer story and more in depth story telling. It would be nice.

Also including good puzzles and sidequests. At least 2 disc's at the most.

there's just something about picking up that hefty ps1 video game case that appeals to me more then the thin single-disced ps2 cases. i mean it was like a big accomplishment to beat a disc in my eyes. sure technology is advancing, but at least let us have our fun of beating discs.
