The amount on the battle screen appears as 9999 but while I was fighting Yiazmat he damaged me with 499 damage and I didn't see any HP change so I looked in the menu screen and saw that the HP was over 9999.
My HP is above 9999?

Saying Omega Mark XII is stronger than Yiazmat is just plain wrong =/ All Omega did to me was shoot beams and ocassionally put some of my other party members on Berserk (rarely, but when he did it was a huge compliment because it made the battle end quicker) Omega Mark XII was just faster than Yiazmat but no one gave me a harder time than Yiazmat and not just because of status ailments but because of his increase in defense and offense near death, and the game registers his critical HP at around 20-30 million, thats just rediculous =/. On top of that it took me about 10hrs to beat that guy at level 75 (I think I faught him a little too soon, but I faught Omega afterwards).
I still have nightmares of Death Strike out prioritizing my actions =/ and sometimes he would end up using it like 5 times in a row! Making the battle take even longer cause I was forced to revive constantly.

apparantly that is the case, in FFX your hp goes alot higher then 9999

And yea, your HP does break 9999 in FFX but it shows it. And it also allows you to max it to 99,999.
