Yah, so I just got photoshop and I've been experimenting for a while now, and figured I can show you some of my best works. They go in order of first time ever to the last one I made. So yeah, here they are:

Enjoy^^

Those are some actually pretty nice Siggys for a beginner.I really like the Power Puff Girl and the Namine siggys. But my fave is the PPG and how you put textures behind the corresponding PPG. :awesome:

We are always happy to have another GFXER here. We have GFX clans that you can join to better yourself in photoshop. We have great tutorials and resources. We are needing more active members in the clans.

I'll look into it. Thanks^^

They definitely get better as they go along which is a great sign that you're improving. What program do you use? The backgrounds are good considering you're new to GFX and you've got a good sense of colour use which is a definite plus point for a new gfxer. I'd look into blending or lighting as your next step before you work your way up to something more complicated, which I think there might be tutorials on here for. Keep up the good work Penelo. :)

I agree with Larxene. You can see you're improving the further down the lot you go. You really do have a good eye for what colours match your focal point. Also, as Larxene said, Lighting is a great next step for you, as is blending. There are tutorials for it out there and the best place to look would probably be DeviantArt. I check there alot when trying out different sorts of styles, read a tutorial and then attempt it in my own way, changing stuff as I go depending on the mood of the sig etc.

Also, I can't stress how awesome gradient maps are enough to new gfx'ers. xD I love grad maps and they are effective in toning down/lighting up a piece if used right. =)

Keep practising. I believe you signed up for The Illuminati. The clan has some great gfx'ers who I'm sure will be more than willing to help you out if you need it.

Keep up the good work and I look forward to seeing more. =)

You can most definitely tell that you've improved from when you first started. Though you weren't that bad to start off with either. =D

I especially like these 3 from your post and I think you have a lot of potential.

Working with layers is something to get used to but in the end you will find that it makes a huge difference in a very good way.

Look for tutorials is my best piece of advice. They certainly helped me get to where I'm at. I'm not the best but I'm better than what I was and without the help of tutorials I wouldn't even have bothered with a lot of the amazing things photoshop has to offer.

You eventually learn and tweak things to your liking and before you know it you have your own unique style and way of doing things.

Also another point I have is that bigger doesn't always mean better. Smaller signatures usually look more decent. If you have a really big sized signature and heaps of unused space it tends to look plain and empty. Negative spaces do look good in signatures if used wisely though. =)

Anyway that's enough from me. XD

Be sure to post another update soon! =D

Wow, havent updated this in a LONG time,

so yeah, decided to keep this thread going for a bit.

^^K, this siggy right here has an awesome story. The render is an action shot from when I was dancing on stage (Yeahh, thats ME!!!) Anyways, my song was "My Immortal by Evanescence and the words were "I've tried so hard to tell myself that you're gone," The position I hit was when the words said "Gone". Just thought I'd share that with you...

Ok, so on SotW on another forum, we had to make a siggy that represented who we really are:

CNC GREATLY APPRECIATED RIGHT HERE!!!

I'm going to ask a very noobish question here regarding Signatures, but I put one up in the UserCP section yet it's not showing up at the bottom of any of my posts.

Do I have to have a minimum amount of posts first or is there something really obvious i've missed? I go into UserCP and it still says my Signature is as I selected it to be.

K guys, I been doing some avvys, tell me what u think!

NUmber 2 is definately my favourite (the sora one) The image is well placed and the soft lighting behind him is a very nice touch. I think avatars look better and are easier to make on a 100x100 canvas so you could maybe try that size of canvas although like i said that my own personal preferance. Maybe work on your texct a little more im liking the fonts youv gone for but the placemnt could use some work. The last one of namine however i think the text in that is placed perfectly, good job, keep posting ;)

Well, you've certainly improved since your first sigs :D The greenday one i like the most, its background is pretty sexing but the render needs work on it. Try to make it look like it isnt just pasted over a picture, rather a part of the picture. =)

As for the sig that represents you. Omg be sexiah! Is that really you?...Nahh...cant be. YOU LIE!:ohshit: Hee hee, but yeah, that one looks very nice. I cant think of any criticisms! Damn..oh, the greenday lyrics look kind of out of place like that, maybe its just my preference but i think it would look better slightly smaller and straight so that the entire verse is visible. Oh, and you need to be naked.:awesome:

Thanks Lew^^ My two faves are the Tifa and Sora ones. Thy're the first two i made, pretty damn awesome eh? I find it really hard to work on a smaller canvas for som reason. I'm so used to sigs that I only go as far as 125x125. Thats just me though.

Sativo, I'm glad you like my Greenday siggy...and my personal siggy. And yes, that is me...:awesome:

Thanks for the cnc people! I will definitely keep this updated...when my computer decides to come back to life.

2 and 3 are definately my favourite. Everything in that second one is perfect tbh. The position and the colours (which compliment the render excellently. Id maybe suggest using stocks instead of renders for icons. I know with me personally i find them so much easier to work with. Creating a good background for a render on a canvas that small is hard.
Ninasiggy.png

I think this ones a little empty on the whole and the render is a little choppy. Try adding stocks over your sig to add some pattern. I usually find a nice image then set it on screen then erase the parts i dont want with a soft brush. You can get some really cool effects depending on wha kind of image you use.
AsukaSiggy.png

Your best signature yet for sure.
hehehe i love vectors and i think youv done a great job with them here. The colours youv chosen are spot on and the brushes are placed well.
I think if u made the render of asuka bigger it would look better, then you could move the text closer to her which would be more effective i think.
Your improving a lot though so keep it up =)

That's your best stuff by far ^^ However, I think the text could be better, as the text is letting you down, it's why the Sailor Moon one is the best avatar of the lot. xD Perhaps making it smaller, lowering the opacity, and moving it nearer the focal would be helpful.

Particularly like the Asuka signature, and I agree with Lew, it's your best work yet, although I think her left arm looks a little off, maybe you shouldn't have erased it as much?

But you're definitely improving ^^

Thanks guys^^
update-experimenting with some stuff, cnc and whatever:
Paine.png

Rikku.png

Penelo.png

^Finally, i made a sig to go with my username...

These newest ones look good, but if your not going to get all of the white out of the characters picture then I think you need to try to blend around the character. The white that stands out the most to me is in Pain and Rikku's hair.

If you find it hard get all the white look for bigger pictures of them, get the white out, then just make the image smaller and go from there.

The background on the first 2 really suit the characters personalities, which is why i like them. The Penelo one is good but I think the background is a little too bright and takes away from the character.

Other than that you're getting better. It's nice to see that you're experimenting with it. ^_^
