Basically I've been reading a lot about this issue.

My view on this is that she was out of order, especially in the circumstance of having a child on her lap and swearing pretty loudly in front of him, it didn't really seem like she had any shame. I think the fact that this was recorded and put on the internet was a little bit of a sly move though, I mean yeah it's pretty racist, but the fact it was recorded seemed a bit of a bear bait if you ask me. I mean that woman must have been around London, or live there to know that there are other ethnic communities around the city, so I don't understand what made her blow up like that. Maybe we'll never know. I also don't understand the woman who asked her to stop swearing, she then went on to say that if they weren't in the country that no one would be there to do the work?? That made me angry, as I'm one of the many young people that have been working since I left school, I pay my bills and taxes thank you very much.

Now my main problem with the whole issue is with the video responses that have been uploaded. It's just fighting prejudice with prejudice, with one girl saying that if people don't like the way Britain is now, then they should leave the country, which kind of states the same sentiment that the racist woman was going on about on the Tram. Also another video response from a woman claiming that the racist woman was most probably on the dole, fighting an alcohol addiction and living in a council house, and then basically generalising us Brits as a whole to be like that.

As I said the woman on the Tram was stupid to express her opinion the way she did, but the reactions to it all are no greater than how this issue was started in the first place.

What are your thoughts on the matter?

:lew: Geezus!!

That was awesome, I used to live in the UK and never encountered this, bad mothering, black people and ethnic stuff but no one said anything about it. This lady is a complete nutter.

The facts are that that with so much strife and conflict in the world refugees are going to a more common scene and residence of established countries need to show tolerance or make there voices heard in the correct arenas, not on a fucking London train FFS.

This reminds me of a time I was catching a taxi home with my bro and the Driver was Indian and we got in and he shat himself :lew: coz he thought we were going to Knife him til we explained not all Aussies are ignorant racist fucks!

But as usual it only takes 1..........I think I know that woman :hmmm:?

She sounds slightly drunk to me... However, there are people who think and behave like this, and quite frankly, I think it's just shameful.

I cannot stand racism. We're all people, we all live in the same world, and we should work together. We should not be competing with one another. If someone wants to live and work in our country because it's a safer place, that's fine. I'd like to think that, were the roles reversed, we'd be able to move somewhere safer. :/

When it comes to the people who shouted back at her on the tram... well, while they were certainly not in the right, I can understand their anger. Racism is a serious issue. :/ However, the remark 'British people don't do the nasty work' is a step too far and untrue... It's also another form of prejudice. :/

I haven't looked to see the video responses, but from what you've said, it's a classic example of people fueling one another and people being hypocritical. There are far too many people who fight prejudice with prejudice, as if doing so will somehow make a point. Offending others - for example, by calling them stupid for thinking in a certain way - never transforms into a valid point...

It's right that she was arrested, if for nothing else than because she was clearly intoxicated while in the care of her child and general breach of the peace.

There's no defence for the woman.

As for the black woman who retaliated, she broke no laws - she might be a bit hypocritical and somewhat misled, but she doesn't deserve to be arrested for it.

Simple.
