Nanaki or RedXIII?

Should it be Red XIII or Nanaki and why?

Red XIII. Even after my first play through I still called him Red XIII mainly because that was the name given. I thought about naming him Nanaki but stuck with Red XIII instead. Besides, Red XIII sounds better.

I think Nanaki should be called by his name not by the lab lable that, that over confident jurk geek and all out chocado and murderour Hojo!! And just for the record I cant even find a word that would discibe my feeling of hatrad to words Hojo he's that obnoktuse that they should put a word in the dictionary to discib him. but I try to spell Nanaki's name right when I play the game.

Wow.

yea i do that too just when you play it with his right name it makes more since and it is cooler latter on in the game
i still name him Red XIII so i don't change his name but i still think at/after cosmo canyon should let you change his name because you find out his true name. because alot of players dont know his real name because of that and it pisses me off

bow chikka bow wow

that is easy it should be nanaki cuz that is his name and not one that scientists gave to him while he was in captivity.

Red XIII, Thats what I will call him forever.
He was my favorite character when I first played it at the age of 7 and thats what I called him then.

I think he likes the name Red XIII. It would also mess up the dialogue if you called him Nanaki. "I am Nanaki, also known as Nanaki." :D

Also, I don't think Amarant is Amarant's real name as Lani called him Red and Amarant says to Zidane "People call me the flaming Amarant."

I don't think they both would have suggested it if they didn't to be called by those names.

Apparently, another name for Amarant was Salamander. Considering that a salamander (fantasy-wise) is known for its fire element, that makes more sense.

Personally, I keep Red's name as Nanaki. Even if you keep his name as Red XIII, the dialogue when you go into Cosmo Canyon is still a little confusing.

Gatekeeper: Thank you for bringing Nanaki home.
Cloud: Who's Nanaki?
Gatekeeper: Nanaki is Nanaki. (and whatever else he says)

So, either way.

yes you have a good point but his grandpa doesnt know his lab name hojo gave him (how he is nanaki's (reds) grandpa i have no idea a human is a red cosmo canyon native wolfs grandpa without fucking a wolf and our sperm wont inpregnate a wolf unless its something like a square enix game) and how does he have kids on the end credits? does anyone know that? or is it like his dad and siblings who r all ded or something?

............*smacks forehead*

In the Japanese version, Nanaki calls Bugehagen "Grampa" much like how a young child calls a good (older) friend of the family "Uncle" or "Auntie". It wasn't meant to imply that Bugenhagen was a part of Nanaki's family by blood, but he is a good friend of Nanaki and his family. Bugenhagen looks after Nanaki much like a grandfather would his grandchild.

thanks for clearin that up fer me and one more thing about the end credits the kids??? do u know?

I don't know for a fact, but I did read somewhere that there was a mate for Nanaki (same species, of course) in Cosmo Canyon somewhere. I can't exactly confirm this, but it's one of the theories that's thrown out there.

yah lol i hope its not bugenhegen or how u spell it or i wood not play the game again... then like five mins later id be like im bord.... oooo FFVII

I'm pretty sure Bugenhagen mentions it just before he dies in disc 3 but you don't have to go back to Cosmo Canyon on disc 3 so for those who didn't might have been confused with the end credits slightly.
