Necron

His appearance confused the hell out of me but I did think he was a nice tough boss. I just wish he was actually part of the story line rather then just “random evil final boss”

Vote = Necron.

If Square decides to throw some last minute mind boggling bosses at you, you just go with it. Besides, he's visually appealing and a decent challenge, if you haven't leveled yourself to deal with Ozma, in which case, meh.

The Iifa tree was a creation of Garland and Garland was a creation of the first society of Terra. I doubt Garland could create such a beast, seeing as how easily defeated he is. I don't think he has the ability.

I think that he is more along the lines of the Grim Reaper, if they're not trying to portray him as God Himself. Who else has the power to just decide that life is over? Even Kujas overly powered ass had to break into some alternate world to disrupt the crystal to accomplish that. This man is just talking like he's made a decision and once he thinks about it hard enough, we'll all blink out of existance.

^ You're forgetting something Garland said to Zidane: ' That is why I wrapped up the light in the Iifa Tree, to prevent the cycle of judgment of souls on Gaia from inside the planet. Such is the Iifa Tree's true purpose, its true form. All you saw was its material form'.

This means something that stops the cycle of souls lies on the spectral form of the Iifa Tree. How would one go there? By dying, then your soul will meet this 'thing' that's stopping the cycle. Kuja kills Zidane's party with Ultima, and then they meet Necron. This means they're in the spectral world, and have come face to face with Necron.

lol

well, i saw a pattern in every FF game ive played so far. that is the final boss- it seems to never be connected with the story... not directly at least...

Orly? What about Exdeath? Kefka? And let's not forget everyone's favourite good-guy-turned-bad, Sephiroth? Oh, and Yu-Yevon :p

But yeah, Necron does seem a bit random if you don't pay attention to what Garland says about the Iifa Tree, but once you figure out the connection he's pretty obvious.

I don't like Necron simply because of the fact that the game doesn't explicitly state what he is and all we have is fan conjecture, although based on stuff in the game. He has Ultimecia syndrome. Plus, he's a really lame metaphor for non-existence, etc.

When i beat trance Kuja i thou the game was over. Than like 30 second later i was like aww this game has a bad ending. Than that Blue Water drop thingy came iw aslike WTF. Than Bam Fight Necron. I was like an easy bosss bam he use that move n kill2 of my party Memeber i was like WTF happen. Than i start to play serious.

Necron in my opinion was one of the easiest Final Bosses from Final Fantasy..i didn't find him as a challenge such as Ultimecia, Sephiroth etc... I don't think he is a important character, neither is role is vital in the storyline.

Not memorable at all, but it was intimidating to suddenly come up against this other worldly being at what felt like the end of the world. I thought it was better than Ultimecia anyway. You knew all about Ultimecia and that you have to face her, but they don't tell you until a few hours before the climax. It just took all the suspense out of it. Necron was different becuase it was coming up against the unknown.

it was completely random boss, but saying that it was a good fight.
if there wasnt necron, do you think the game should have ended before him, of carried on with another boss?

The element of surprise can have different effects on different people.. personally when I killed kuja for the first time I threw the pad down and went crazy..then woo.. necron appeared out of nowhere..

I think it would of been nice if necron had some mention in the game..maybe as a myth or an old legend, that would of been pretty sweet, at least then we would of known a little more about his character.

It was a surprise but it was cool that he just came out of nowhere but he was very easy to beat.

And here I thought I was the only one who was majorly pissed that this surprise boss just appeared. While it didnt ruin the game for me, it was a upset that you had no real warning that this boss was coming. I think I remember that there was one mention of him but other than that nothing.

His randomness was the point of him though.
He was a being from another dimension that the characters would not usually come to meet.

Necron witnesses Kuja's murderous intentions to bring the world with him in his death and then Necron concluded that all life eventually went to seek death.

So Necron emerged to destroy the crystal and revert everything to nothingness, where there can be no suffering, pain or loss as Kuja had faced that tossed him over the edge.

I liked him, and his kick ass music (agony sounds ftw!). But he wasn't meant to emerge until the end, and his emergence earlier one would have lessened the impact, and wouldn't make sense.

Wow I didn't even think of it that way. That actually makes a lot more sense than him just appearing. BTW where did you get this info? Was just something you really thought about or something you read online?

Bit of both. I came up with the idea and what I thought of it, and then had a quick check on FF wikia just to see if I haven't missed anything, which essentially confirmed what I thought.

But I thought Necron was an awesome ending, when you realise why he is there. Essentially a death demon from another dimension wishing to revert everything to nothingness and end suffering, so that nothing like it witnessed with Kuja could happen again. Or something along those lines.

I have to admit the first time he wiped me because of all the status effects but when i got protection to all of them he was a walk in the park.

Thats the same for me too. I think fighting him was a fun thing to do though. Maybe he might not be that powerful, but he still offers a certain level of challenge =D
