As I have played through FFX, I wanted to try to go for the Monster Arena (having beat the super bosses of FFVII and FFVIII, I wanted to see if I could do this one as well). Knowing the "Original Creatures" were strong, I was prepared to do a lot of sphere level grinding. Took about four days (a couple hours each day), and I was able to unlock Nemesis.

Today, I decided to try the battle. I had three characters in mind I wanted to use. Two attackers (Tidus, Wakka) and a healer (Yuna). I had maxed out Strength, Defense, and Agility on all of them. Started out with Tidus and Wakka using Quick Hit as I set up Auto-Life on everyone with Yuna. (I then had her join in with the Quick Hits) Had Auto-Life on at all times (putting it back on to whoever got killed), and had X-Potions for Auto-Potion to work. I just kept on attacking when I was able to. In all, it took about 25 minutes to beat him. ^^

I was surprised I was able to do it on my first try. 10 million HP is the most so far I have had to deal with, with a boss in a game. As far as FF super bosses go, he's the last one I'll be trying (haven't tried Ozma in FFIX though. :hmmm:.) I really do not like the idea of Yiazmat. (50 million HP, damage cap at 9999?! No thank you! :rage:.)

So, my questions are: Have you been able to beat Nemesis and what was your strategy for it?

Nemesis? Battle arena? Final Fantasy 10? First thing I thought was that eight-foot-tall ugly monster from Resident Evil with the rocket launcher making L.J wet his pants. I'm thinking there's a huge chunk of the game I missed, and it's already long enough that I about fainted at even the idea of a second play through after completing it the first time. I just don't remember a battle arena so which city was it in?

It was at the Calm Lands, on the far right side, there should be a small area in the middle, leading to the Monster Arena. The guy there says he needs help getting all the monsters back and you have capture 10 each of just about every enemy found in the game. Capturing them all unlocks special enemies to face (that are pretty tough), and beating them all unlocks the toughest enemy in the game, Nemesis.

After beating Nemesis, the guy gives you the "Mark of Conquest" key item. It's just like the "Proof of Omega" in FFVIII (after beating Omega Weapon), it's just something saying you were able to beat the toughest enemy in the game.

Beating Penance and the Dark Aeons is the one you really want to brag about. Absolutely ridiculous fight.

Nemesis wasn't too bad, Quick Hit is a VERY cheap attack. I used Tidus, Wakka and Rikku and just spammed Quick Hit like I've never spammed before. Rikku's overdrive was really useful (the one where you can heal everyone fully, even if they have over 9999 hp).

I know about the Dark Aeons and Penance, but I own the NA version of the game. I don't think I'll ever have access to the International Version, or a PS2 capable of playing it. So, I can only brag about Nemesis. ^^;

Quick Hit was the only thing I could think of using to attack him. Couldn't use Overdrives as he'd counter with Ultima (I didn't know stealing from him would make him use Ultima as well. I was surprised), didn't find Aeons useful, and I didn't find doublecasting any Magic helpful when I could get a bunch of hits in (with Quick Hit) before he could even attack.

Well since somebody already beat me to the Resident Evil Nemesis reference >.> I'm just going to say, no, I haven't beaten Nemesis. I didn't even know there was such a thing in Final Fantasy X in the first place. I was so consumed with the story I didn't want to mess around with anything else =X

Something to keep in mind for a possible future replay of the game.

I actually had more trouble with Nemesis than i did with Penace.
I was considerably stronger when i fought Penace, but it was just tedious more than anything, takes forever and you need to concentrate!
Nemesis took me about a week @ 3 - 4 hours a day, it was insane!
Only thing harder then Nemesis IMO was Dark Yojimbo.

Lol I cheated my way with Nemesis.. :britt: Dont want to bother my time defeating it on my own strength lolzz... cant say for penance though, I unlocked him but dont want to use Zanmato,,,anyways my ps2 has retired long time ago, so cant be bothered taking the time to defeat penance fair and square.
