New Battle System and Gambits

I love how your characters seem to be getting smarter when it comes to this whole Gambit system. If a certain situation arises, they instantly know the remedy for it and can find your way out of a jam right away.

Definitely my favorite battle system in the series so far.

I can focus on what attacks or magiks i want to use while Fran heals my whole party, or counters Sleep Silence ect...without so much as a touch of a button.

Of course I don't really got nothing against it, like I said before, I'm an elitist when it comes to games. But... if this is the future of games, where you don't gotta do shit and let an AI do everything for you... then whats the point of even calling it a game? Might as well just give the games a "Watch Mode" option where you get to see the AI play and beat the game for you.

People want things easy these days. Oh well.

I like the way you get into battle! I dislike the way it takes forever to level up! I like the Gambits, but am still a bit muddled my them, and I totally hate the fact that I dont seem to have an overdrive/limitbreak, I hate having to be licensed to use magic and accessories . . . erm . . . Ooooh I love the FF7 music playing lol .... and I like the fact that Ashe looks like Yuna. I hate hate hate, the werewolves when Im on level 3 and they hit me for 130 hp! I like the way mp goes up as you walk around.
I so far looooooove the graphics.
Will come back and let you know after I have a proper boss battle lol

Time to quote myself and say IGNORE ALL THAT !! I now loooooove everything!!!! Quickenings kick ass, as do the way you set one of and can use the others in succession with the press off a button and BAM ... no more bad guy ahahaha love it 1!! Still a bit miffed over the licenses .... but im sure it will get sorted with me soon :P

Well, I gave the whole system a shot, and I must say, I really like it. The battle system took a short while to get used to, but it got pretty interesting after a while. Though I don't like how monsters can continually use 'Rush' or 'Lunge' consecutively though...

The Gambit system, I feel, really refines your characters to meet your personal style. It's great! A huge improvement in comparison to Star Ocea: Till the End of Time's AI system. (you basically had to depend on them to learn and replicate what you do in certain situations... it was disappointing). Although at the stage I am in the game (being around 7 hours), I don't really have a lot of Gambits, but from what I do have, it's helping my battle style greatly.

At least I'm not the only one healing now anyway. :p

The only thing I dont like about it is the fact that I seem to keep dying no matter who I have healing who .... Im only just beginning and keep getting killed to death (suprisingly - lol) by soldiers and mastif's that attack me on the way to Judge Ghis ..... and Ideas on how I can stop dying ... my characters are all 550 hp and above apart from one ... my friend put me to shame and coped with this bit with only 400 hp (ish) for each

Well, I just ran. :p Using the oh-so convenient Escape function. Niceness. As for actual tactics... Protect is your best friend. The Mages won't do much damage to you, but take them out first anyway, because they cast darkness, silence and poison etc. The others hit relatively hard, so that's where Protect comes in. Not much else to report on that one really. In some cases there'll be too many to deal with, so you may just want to flee anyway. You're better off saving yourself for Ghis.

i kind of agree with you, but in another way i dont agree. It depends on the players. For example, I use gambits, but only to a certain point. I love doing things manually, but normal things like attacking, using libra or casting protect is put into gambits because I constently use them. However I leave the healing and removing status effects to my own fingers. So my point is that some people like me only have 4-5 gambits set up, thats why i disagree with you. But i agree that if you have more than 7-8 gambits set up its too much and it does become "Watch Mode"

i liked the battle system and the gambits.

gambits as they really help you in the game and save you from doing everything they also make the game more realistic and they made you enjoy the game and also added a strategic part to the game as you had to design gambits

the battle system was really good and i liked the turn based system being replace as it made the game more realistic

I think something which is also noteworthy in relation to the battle system, is the Guest feature. Having the likes of Larsa and Vossler in your party is... well, amazing. Or at least it was. Although it can make battles somewhat easy, training is hugely hastened. I leveled up 5 times in the span of 40 minutes whilst Larsa was in my party. He aided strongly in overcoming two bosses, and makes traveling somewhat 'safe' with his continuous use of Hi-Potions.

A great inclusion, I find.

I agree, the guest characters was a great inclusion. I also loved the way you would have 'friendly' warriors wondering the terrain that would heal or cast positive status effects on you; and also help you within battle. These features really excel the seamless immersion of the game.

the guest character werent all that great they ruined you because you began to rely on them to much

I agree on that part with Larsa - how I loved his endless supply of Hi-Potions and X-Potions.

Not exactly. By the time they're in your party, you're strong enough to fend for yourself anyway. Granted, there'll be the odd player who decides to slack off with the likes of Larsa hanging around, but they don't make so much of an impact to make the player "depend" on the Guests. They're a help, but not anything substantially so. Hell, they don't even level up...

Amen. Saved me against that weird Elder Wyrm. You know, the thing with that spore attack with multiple status effects being thrown in your face because of it.
Not having to run around scanning for a Save Crystal was great.

honestly there isn't one way to do it. Honestly go in a really easy area, and test everything out. See what works for you :)
