Nintendo New console from Nintendo in 2011

Does anyone have GC's numbers compared to PS2 or X-Box?

This is from wikipedia so it is by no means reliable, but I cba looking for something better. :monster:

It should also be noted that the PS2 and GC figures were taken in 2008 and 2009 respectively. Where as the Xbox figures were taken in 2006 (so they are probably much higher than what these figures would make you think).
Worldwide sales figures
  1. PlayStation 2 – 140 million, as of 20 July 2008 (2008 -07-20)[update][17]
  2. Xbox – 24 million, as of 10 May 2006 (2006 -05-10)[update][18]
  3. Nintendo GameCube – 21.74 million, as of 31 March 2009 (2009 -03-31)[update] (Japan: 4.04 million, the Americas: 12.94 million, other: 4.77 million)[7]
  4. Sega Dreamcast – 10.6 million[8][14]

Based on those Worldwide sales figures, Nintendo Gamecube hasn't sold very well at all, but seeing as this is just from Wikipedia, it could just be made up by some Sony fanboy.

Just look, the sales for Playstation 2 here is more than triple that of Gamecube and Xbox combined.

And yes, I realize that the amount of Xboxes sold is likely a decent bit higher, but still, PS2's numbers are insane, were those console wars really that one sided?

Well, this time around Nintendo is clearly in first, with their family friendly Wii and all the fun, entertaining games released for it.

I have a Gamecube- but all I have on it are Metroid 1 and 2, Wind Waker, Baiten Kaitos, Mario Kart Double Dash, Pokemon XD, Tales of Symphonia and Mario Sunshine.

But I know very few people with Gamecubes. The Gamecube wasn't bad- but it just didn't get enough 3rd party support. As for the Wii, sadly, it's getting a lot of support from the unwanted kind. There's only so much more of Big Beach Sports and We Cheer I can take before I scream.

Yes. I don't know what the actual verified numbers are, but it's a fact that PS2 was far, far ahead of the other systems, no contest. I have no problem believing those Wikipedia numbers are true.

I really liked Gamecube. I actually think it had a better final game library than Wii has right now, but then again the Wii isn't finished yet.

I don't doubt PS2 sold the most, and that it was by a large amount, but I really didn't think it could really be that big of a difference...

And the Wii has lots of very good games, some of which I am sure it is just that many gamers haven't given the chance. >.>

Phantom Brave: We meet again is a great game, but that is probably one a lot of players just haven't played, that doesn't make it a mediocre game, that makes it a game with great potential, often overlooked.

And there are several really good games for the Wii that I am sure have sold a good bunch of copies:

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
Super Mario Galaxy
The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
Mario Kart Wii
Metroid Prime 3: Corruption

There's other good games but I can't think of them off the top of my head, and this message is starting to get a bit long.

I still play my Gamecube. For whatever reason, Skies of Arcadia and Tales of Symphonia are just as addictive to replay as they were the first time. I may still keep it around to play the Metroid trilogy that I never got around to. And I think the Resident Evil 4 is best on the Gamecube than any other port.

It seems strange that they're making a new system to compare with the PS3 and 360 when they already have the Wii that's selling VERY well. I've never actually seen a Wii with my own eyes because whenever I go to any electronics store, its always sold out. Since its release I've never seen one. Yet I managed to nab myself a PS3 and 360.

But I'm curious what that would make the Wii then? The Nintendo system for the kids? And the new one is for the older, possibly 'real' gamers? If so, then I may be very happy with that. I partially have stayed away from the Wii because of those crappy little group games. I almost exclusively play video games by myself anyway, so a Wii obviously wasn't for me. Though Super Mario Galaxy, the new Zelda and Paper Mario games were all very appealing to me.
