Ok, we've talked a lot about images, new maps, new areas and stuff, so now it's time to talk about the storyline. Say bye bye to the Incarnates! (erm....shouldn't say that....>_>)
Anyhow, the suggested themes for the new storyline are:
-Koloth's idea (as soon as he tells me)
-Alternate Earth (war and treason)

So let's work on some ideas, post your suggestions here :)

I need to jot my idea down some. To give it some order.

Basically there will be an NPC that pretty much is constant througout the game. Which guides and instructs you. Now, you learn to trust him. But is that a wise idea? Of course there will be other NPCs. They may even help you learn more about the main guy. You will also be on a quest for a special weapon. Which you will get in pieces. Also, there will be plenty of side quests.

From there, I need to work things out.

I'd say a Blood Omen theme brings about not only a great story, but multiple memorable wars. ;p

Though anything LoK related would be awesome. :wacky:

I have the following suggestion...

You start your adventure in Midgar, you used to live in an orphanage and when you got old enough you left and got to Midgar you go to the 7th Heaven Inn and you are given a job by Barret, you have to go to the Shinra HQ (which would have 2 floors not to be very hard at 1st) and collect some item (which i will think up later) when you get there you find a man who calls you his son...

From there you would have to travel the world trying to find out about your hidden past and getting help from characters of the final fantasy universe along the way.

Something along those lines...i would like to suggest more.

Nice blend of FFVII and Star Wars there.

I would quite like to see Kain being a recurring boss actually, regardless of the storyline. Perhaps an inclusion of his vampiric Lieutenants also?

Well you could be an half breed vampire your father a vampire and your mother a human, this turn you into a marginal at the eyes of society.

So what if it's a mixture of Star Wars and FF? I think we should mix as many universes as possible.

Despite my previous suggestion, being creative as possible is imperative for an interesting story to compel players into playing. Taking the story from well-known worlds seems so... pointless.

We are talking about mixing different stories not copying a single one.

Players will like to follow a story which they have seen or played in the past, not a completely new one and in the end all RPGs end up the same thing.

If you want to bring more players into the RPG that's what needs to be done a story which mixes characters from different game universes.

We can merge ideas too, then we will have a masterpiece!

Of course, a great game needs....a great war!

Well the two supposed (good vs evil) could fight a war. The question is who is good and who is evil?

High encounter areas are fun. ;)

... what in God's name?

Where -pray tell- did anyone say they were talking about replicating a single "one"?

Again... what? Traversing through an entirely new story would repel people from playing? Haha.

and in the end all RPGs end up the same thing.
:shame:

You can't make an entirely new story whatever angle you try and find will always be similar to an RPG or movie already created in the past the only way you could create an original story is by mixing different universes and that's what i have been saying from the begining...

A war sounds good but the current RP already as a battle going on between Dwarfs and Elfs...although that really does not add anything special.

Perhaps a war going on between all races that we encounter in the RPG Elfs vs Dwarfs vs Humans vs Vampires and other creatures of the night.

Like Warcraft but without the part of you actually controlling a race:)

Maybe halfway through the story, you find out that Kain is your brother or something? He turned traitor on you, so you have to fight him multiple times?
You also find out that you can travel through time and end up in a different era. Eg: The Age of Vampires, Modern Day (Resi Evil could fit in here), Viking age (Where you can fight in wars). Each place as an artifact that you use in the real world. This unlocks the next era and so on. This is a Timesplitters/Kain/Resi/FF theme.

I think that travelling to lots of different eras and worlds would be too much, perhaps there could be a single place that you use to travel to a new world like Terra and Gaia in Final Fantasy IX.

To put RE in the mix you could simply make Albert Wesker be a vampire (and that's why he uses sunglasses everytime) and he could control the zombies.

You could even walk into a city and have Barry Burton appearing and say..."Bizarre murder cases have ocurred here!"

You should also have to face a powerful boss like Kain to get acess to the new world and after you defeat him he says he was being controlled by someone and dies, and so you go to the new world to find out who that person is.

The evil person could be Mr.Rogers.:wacky:

There already is an evil Mr. Rogers in demolition man, Simon Phoenix had some guy shoot him. Anyways the collecting artifact deal that makes a single weapon sounds good. We could try going with a game where we start in the present and some werid incident sends us to the future, and with our hero being absent chaos ensured. Now somehow he finds a way to travel between the future and his present time to try and set things right, though to further things he soon finds out he needs to head into the past. This all happening while he is assembling an artifact that will help him accomplish what he was ment to do. Therefore the evil that was responsible for sending our hero into the future to cause choas to ensure would have to be obe everlasting throughout time, and only this artifact can stop him. This may be a chrono trigger steal with the whole time travel bit but might lead to a good story. Or instead of a time travel idea you can possiblt make it where he has to travel from diffrent realities and his home world is under threat, and he travels to diffrent worlds to save his own.

I might be new to this forum (and Final Fantasy for that matter), but I think that it should be just a story with a simple base, and then developed by the community. Those types are always fun (you never know what's going to happen)...
