Lol, Ive just started replaying Final Fantasy X again and havent played it since 2004, yeah long time! But Ive only just noticed that you dont gain levels! I think its because Ive played Final Fantasy 12 alot and expect levels to be in every FF game.

But yeah, imagine my surprise when I seen you dont gain levels, but AP for the sphere grid. Talk about noobish-ness lol!

So yeah, how do you feel without the level system? Would you rather have levels so you can see how far youre progressing or do you like the good old sphere system and see it as an interesting way of leveling?

Come to think of it, your not the only one who forgot. The same goes with me as well, you have just reminded me.

I actually prefer the levelling up more than FFX sphere grid.

I wasn't too bothered. The Sphere Grid was a nice change, even if it was only for one game. Sort of like something to make it all less repetitive.
FFXII tried to give a mix of both, with the License Board and levels too, but it wasn't quite as good I thought.

Mad isnt it lol?

Yeah the sphere grid was different, but I love levellinh up in any game! It pushes me forward in battle to get as high a level as I possible can. But in X, I feel like I have nothing to push forward for, only a new ablility if possible.

With XII's license board, I feel you fill it too easily but with the Sphere Grid you can continue on to another characters side and it goes on for ages.

I’ll admit I definitely missed it, I always enjoyed the traditional leveling system found in the previous titles, but I did like the change with the Sphere Grid. It was interesting and it sure took a hell of a long time to fully complete...

I played this before FFXII so when I returned to it the second time I was surprised, but not as surprised as I take you to be. :P
Eh, can't say I missed the level system, it was (sorta) easier to see stats increase with the Sphere Grid system.

Haha, I didn't even think of it until now either. I prefer gaining levels then AP for the sphere system in X. That's a real shame they did that in my opinion but you can't always get what you want. I haven't played X for ages now so it's harder to remember things about it, that's my excuse anyway. :P

at first i hated the SG but after playing ffx for a while it started to grow on me it worked for that game but it was a one off think i would hate to see it in a nother game

i'm a huge fan of the sphere grid. i thought it was a great change, it allowed you to customize your characters more to your liking. also it was a much longer process then leveling up to level 99, so it gave the game more to do. i also thought it was the most beneficial way of training your characters.

I hated the Sphere Grid with a passion. My favourite method of levelling up and gaining abilities was actually that of XII. No, don't kill me please! *hides* That's just my personal perference. The Sphere Grid, in my eyes, sucked.

I love my level-ups, that's why I like the experience system in X-2 better... You did gain AP, as well as levels. Still the Sphere Grid was innovative... I didn't even notice until you pointed it out.

o.o Really? No "level 1, 2, 3...99"...? Either I didn't notice, or I've complete forgotten...it's been awhile since I played too. I guess the Sphere Grid distracted me or something...I did like the system, afterall.

Anyway, I'd rather have level-ups implemented in the FF games. It's tradition, you know? And you can keep track of your progress in the game, and have that sense of satisfaction when you see your characters level up.

it destroyed the history of FF level-ups but still...it is a really good game
better than FFXII

I found the change in ffx and ffxii ok, change is not always good, but for me it was at least. At first when I saw the Sphere Grid I thought, wow I'll never get that, but once I got into it it was awesome, the beauty of it is that you can shape any character the way you like. You can make Tidus a healer or a black mage, and turn Lulu and Yuna into fighters :D

I liked the Sphere grid for one reason and one reason only: You can completely max out your stats. You get clear spheres and erase all the the plus 1, 2, and 3 stat things and replace them with the corresponding sphere as well as using them on empty nodes. That way you can have each character and Aeon attain 255 in every single stat which makes you kick ass.

The Sphere Grid is still probably the best character development system of the seires IMO. It allowed you to make your characters exactly how you wanted them and didn't seem as repetative as the more traditional LV-up system, though I like that too.

XII tried to have a similar system, but it doesn't work aswell, seems to repetative and makes all the character the same more or less. >_<

Sphere grid was the best way to level up your characters..you were able to have 255 of every stat. And you do get that sense of achievment, e.g when you got a Strength+4 for tidus or Auron..plus if your experienced and are playing through again, once you complete a persons own area it was an achievement. Better than the 1-99 levels i reckon..

I liked it once I got used to it, it made a change anyways. I like messing with the sphere grid later on aswel altho some aspects of it are annoying when you run out of spheres and you have to go farming them or disrtilling them....overall tho, I liked it
