No Versus at E3... Why

Been meaning to make this for awhile -

so

Anyone know why versus didnt show up or was mentioned once during the entire show? no game play footage, no cinematics, no release dates, no nothin. I honestly think this is going to be the better game of the 2 and I think lots others agree.

So who else is pissed?

I totally agree. I was wondering why nothing was said about FFXIII Versus. I mean, they announced FFXIV, more shit on FFXII but no FFXIII Versus? I mean seriously, what gives? Maybe they're increasing our anticipation? lol.

Well, I have heard that they have put the production of Versus on hold due to the completion of XIII. They wanted to get the game out on schedule without any pushbacks, I am assuming.

So, naturally they would not have any new leaked info on this game just yet. Probably after the completion of XIII, we shall see more footage of this game.

And I kinda think that the team who is making XIV is a different field than those making Versus and XIII.

yeah actaully the regular FF guys are making XIII, the Kingdom Hearts team is making versus, and I assume the XI team is working on XIV

Still though, at least a sampler that they are MAKING progress would have been nice if anything. I mean, I know it takes time to make a game, but man, they announced it ages ago, I'm surprised no one mentioned it on live-blogs during E3.

well, if they pulled their producers from Versus how are they going to show progress?

Until I know from a viable source that they did indeed pull procedures from Versus I'll believe it. Also, I believe Pokeslob even said it's different teams working on different games so as to why they would pull the plug is completely oblivious to me.

It is, Nomura wants the battle system and such like of FFXIII Versus to be an advanced version of that of Kingdom Hearts, hence he chose a completely different team to work on Versus, however, the FFXIII Versus team may also be working on the Kingdom Hearts games at the same time, although I'm not sure whether they've split the KH team in two or not.

Anyways, chances are, there's nothing really that new to show at E3 surrounding FFXIII Versus, it would cost money to present the game and develop to the point where it was showable as battle systems etc, plus Square Enix limited the amount of personel at E3, like many companies, due to swine flu fear and there were more new games such as Front Mission, FFXIV, Nier etc to announce anyway, so Versus was probably irrelavent at E3.
 
I agree Versus looks more interesting to me. Unfortunately, I'm still probably not gonna buy a ps3 just for versus because almost every good ps3 game is on the 360 or wii. But still, eye candy would have been nice.
 
yeah, pretty dumb. how many many times can they delay this stuff :/ grrrrrr

btw.......... is versus gonna be for 360(or have a chance)?
 
They are probably holding Versus back for the Tokyo Game Show 2009 this fall. E3 might be the biggest gaming expo, but the world doesn't revolve around it. Especially not if you are a Japanese developer/publisher with a historically strong focus on your home market.
 
I would rather they wait to show another trailer until they've worked on it more. It's a known fact that if you rush a game, just because the fans want it, you'll get a crappy game.
 
It was the swine flu scares that stopped the Versus and presumably the KH teams from visiting LA with SE limiting the amount of staff travelling over for E3 (as already mentioned). I think we would have got more KH: Birth by Sleep and Versus XIII if they did come.

So Versus (and hopefully any Kingdom Hearts game) should appear at TGS 09. That's the next biggest event after E3 alongside Leipzig. The SE personel wouldn't even need to go abroad for TGS, so Nomura had better appear this time!
 
I didn't really mind. The way I see it, it has just got people talking about, the lack of anything being released has certainly whet my appetite!
More and more people will be looking and interest will increase, which is good for the developers I guess.
