NPC Service

Here is my attempt at a Monster Bio, I borrowed several parts from Throttle's New Bio template so please understand that credit goes to him for his work, I in no way am accepting credit for this :

--------------------------------------------------------------------

Monster Name : (This should include species only, those who wish to use a monster class as a character should name their character and include the monster type in the Hall of Warriors)

Growth : (Include the monster’s life cycle if applicable and the likelihood of encountering the monster while in its different stages, for example a Blue Dragon could have a baby form, adult form and elder form. Include approximate height/weight and appearance as well as any discernable differences between their stages, if there are no differences just say N/A)

Behavior Patterns : (Describe the monsters temperament ranging from inherently evil or territorial to passive and unaggressive unless attacked. Describe plausible reasons for the monster to engage in combat. Also include : whether they travel in packs or herds or by themselves; whether they eat plant, animal, magic, rock etc ; whether they follow a leader as in an alpha, or whether they are individuals)

Habitat : (Include possible locations for where the monster could be sighted, and include reasons why they live there.)

Strength : (This is a section completely devoted to the physical strength of your Monster. Describe to us its brute strength, such as how much it can lift, how much damage it can do to a brick wall, for example, in a single punch.

It is also useful to state how much damage a punch would do to a character if the opponent’s health was at 500 (with minimal defensive capabilities), and give it’s damage a numerical value. DO NOT automatically assume that every character's health is recorded by numerical values. This is simply a ratio for the mods to understand.)

Speed : (In this section state how quickly the monster can move. How quickly it can sidestep, how fast it can run, and how fast its attacks are)

Endurance : (In this section state how much damage the monster can endure without using numbers, state how long the monster can fight for before becoming tired, how fast it can run at full speed.)

Elemental strengths and weaknesses : (Include only its resistance/absorption or weakness of elemental magic/skills, and explain why it would be strong/weak against it.)

Status defense and weaknesses: (Include only resistance or weakness to status effects, and explain why it would be strong/weak against it.)

Abilities : (This is NOT magic, that has its own section. State any specific physical abilities of the monster. For each ability, you must describe the general appearance, the theoretical effects, and the duration of any long-standing skills. These skills can range from the use of artefacts, such as pendants, to a shout or power up that gives you more strength. If your character uses Chi, Ki, or any other form of bodily/mental/external energy to fuel their attacks, you must state it here, as energy is not technically magic.

Also, if you are using energy, you should state how much of your energy each energy attack will cost you, in terms of fractions.)

Magic : (This is the section where magic goes. In here, you state the type or element be it Fire, Earth, Air, Wind, Water, Lightning, Aether, Arcane, Necromancy, etc. of your magic, and for each type, state the appearance and theoretical effects of this magic. If, for example, you sport Necromancy and decide to raise corpses, describe how long the skill takes before it is complete, how much energy it takes, what the undead will look like, what abilities/strength they have, etc. This applies to all magics, and each should be described in the most precise detail you can manage.)

Additional Information : (Anything else?)

I would like to offer a few suggestions on getting the Monster handler section underway :

-First we should create a post for the ongoing Create a Monster competition. Include prizes (such as a banner/sig/reputation points) for acceptable bio's. And include whatever bio template we decide to use.

-We should then create a topic in the Alliances section for a Monster Handler Guild this way members are easily locatable and members would have a place to look to find handlers they can ask to battle with them.

-We should create a topic in the Legendary/Practitioners forums for people to sign up to fight Monsters.

-We should also create a sign up sheet for members that wish to allow their characters to be used as NPC's.

Thats all I have so far.

Im so sorry that I did not reply to this before.
I think I have been meaning to for some time, but it just washed away with the last shower... ^^;

This sheet, is very good made. It has the aspects one would question if one where to take on the role of a beast. And it has plenty of information (if filled out correctly) that will make a good monster.

I don't know what more to add. Great work ^^

Cool glad you like it. I think your idea is pretty damn good to go, and it should be set in place asap.

As for the Monster bit, it just needs a onceing over by the mods. I hope it helps and sees some use!

I also really like the monster idea. I think it could easily be tied in with the 'training people new to RP'ing' as well, giving them stages to go through. It wouldn't be judged on them winning, as they presumably won't have themselves killed, but how well they write out their battle. With the stages, we could do more complex monsters that would be more and more difficult to kill, therefore making the new Rp'r hone the single character they made to go through all of the five, ten, however many monsters until they finish, in which case they'd have a sense of pride at having completed the test, as well as something else that could be tossed in, like rep or something.
Also, I'd like to be a volunteer for this, but I was a bit confused on how to 'join up' as a volunteer. I saw the forms for someone to request an NPC, but I easily may have just missed it while skimming through. I assume that someone has to vouch for my ability to play one well. If anyone is willing to do that, then all the better, but if not, then is there any way for me to prove myself?

wow, took me forever to find this idea anywhere in the forums. I think this is a great idea, and i may have to contact here for you guys to run a few NPCs on a new RP i'm working on for me. Mainly, you will use a partner character to aid people. I may have you use them to fight others in certain situations, such as differing opinions lead to a fight, the RPer (main player anyways) takes a side and gets that partner while the partner-less person will be run by an NPC person. Usually, the main RPer will take control of their partner during battles like this, but if i have enough people helping they may not get to control an extra person.

Im Bumping this, to make it apparent to the new staff of the RP section.

Please read and tell me your ideas.

I like it to be quite honest, it would be highly useful to have a temporary partner etc. Implement it is what I say and see how many people actually request them. If you want I can sticky this in every sub-forum of the section to attract more attention?

So, it just became "active" like that?
I have a few ideas on how to use this, or rahter, now to implement it.
If you contact me over MSN or AIM, I can explain my ideas
