NRA calls for armed school guards

Hahaha! People breaking into houses like pinatas? Are you being serious? Dude, the impression I'm getting here is that you can only see two extremes. One in which a society has to be armed in order to defend itself. Or one in which a society lives in constant fear of burglars breaking into their homes. One thing I find funny is that both of those extremes have a very similar sense of paranoia.

I can't believe you actually think that the alternative to owning a gun is to be incredibly vulnerable and incapable of defending yourself. Sorry, but I find the prospect of hiding behind a gun to be very weak. :mokken: From what I've read, you seem awfully dependant on being able to own a gun. It would actually be very interesting to see how other like-minded people would cope without firearms. I can imagine most people having a mental breakdown.

Violent crime doubles, and in-home robberies climbed to 53% of all robberies after the anti-gun law. In America, in-home robberies are 13%. There is a gigantic observation to be made there.
Criminals have clearly gotten over confident, and with Muslims on the rise and the death of the Anglican communion imminent, the UK is going to Hell in a hand basket.
Europe is making itself a glutton for punishment. Soon enough, guns really won't matter anymore because the government will shoot you for having one. The only thing you can do really is shun that fact away, perhaps laugh at it or make it seem 'extreme'. It's a fact, and you all will feel that sting soon enough.

A weapon defends much more then waiting for the cops whilst in the fetal position.

Then take your ass somewhere where fists mean exactly squat. See how strong you are when you are jumped, stabbed, or shot. There is no proper reasoning behind anti-gun logic. Does the death toll go down? Yes. But at what cost? It is absolute BULLSHIT to leave people at the mercy of criminals no matter what the logic may be. There are other ways to fix the death count other then disarming citizens, such as renewing accountability of society instead of playing the blame game.

Yeah, but instead of living at the mercy of petty thieves, you're putting schools and other public places at the mercy of nutjobs who seem to find it awfully easy to acquire a firearm and shoot the hell out of everyone. What you're saying is incredibly selfish. I can't believe how bold you are about saying that the death toll means fuck all so long as you still have the right to carry a gun.

Earlier on in the thread, you were chastising people for treating a firearm as something more than just an object, yet you're here acting like your very life depends on having one.

I know, right? Those damn Muslims. They're indisputably all villains. No doubt we're going to enter a new age of Shariah Law soon.

Europe is making itself a glutton for punishment. Soon enough, guns really won't matter anymore because the government will shoot you for having one.

But I thought you and your pro-gun friends have said that in the case of a blanket gun ban, only criminals would have access to guns illegally? If as you have prophesised, the government goes after your arse for that, I'm rather okay with that.

It is absolute BULLSHIT to leave people at the mercy of criminals no matter what the logic may be.

Good grief, man. How often do you think we get violently burgled? How often do you get violently burgled and attacked in your area? Is this a daily occurrence to you? And to us? Is this such a prevalent danger that your very life depends on the instruments that unlike knives, cars or baseball bats, are designed to kill, often with startling efficiency? Is there a fucking war-for-all going on that I'm not aware of?

I don't constantly live in perpetual fear that I will be violently attacked and that therefore I need a whole arsenal to defend myself. That is just unhealthy shit of a mindset. I don't care what you say it is, but it's paranoia. It's a life of constant fear, which was essentially Nancy Lanza's life in a nutshell, and that reaped so many rewards for her. I would hate to be one of you lot constantly believing that I must be armed at all times in case someone is out there to get me. Arming an entire society is counterproductive to a healthy society.

You say that one day, we will see the light and the eventual need for guns here in the UK? I accept your challenge then. I don't know about you, but millions of us here have lived our lives having barely ever seen an actual firearm up close and we're doing alright. And yes, we do have an issue with violent crime (usually knives). But how many of them since Dunblane have culminated in mass school or cinema shootings? Oh, that's right. None. Our kids are safe, thank you.

But, as the States will never totally get rid of their guns because of practical reasons and rigidly-steeped ideological reasons because a 300-year old piece of paper has been interpreted this way and because of freedumz, they should at least have the decency to regulate them a bit more, considering your background checks have been prone to failure with loopholes that can't even be properly sealed. But no, kindly continue to stomp all that under your boots, because they're violating your rights. You don't need assault weapons. Not now. Not ever. The only argument I've seen for assault weapons amounts to what is essentially an arms race. "Oh my God, what if I get attacked by a guy that my little Glock can't easily take down? I need BIGGER guns!"

Who do you kiss to bed at night? Your child, or a gun?

This is starting to remind me of Revolution... You know, where guns are illegal and ammo is scarce... Then again they also have no power :hmmm:

Anyway, looking at Revolution and back at this, outlawing guns is NOT a good idea.

There WILL be revolts.

Like I have said before, it comes down to higher security AND/OR who can/cannot own a gun. It's ridiculous we are even arguing about this anymore/why this is still a debate... IN MY OPINION...

Ok folks, this it the final warning! Any further derailment will result in infractions and the closing down of this thread!

It is a mortal conflict of interest to have people die from being unprotected because a society is too lazy to come up with a better solution. That is what is really selfish. In fact, it's downright absurd. You can't believe in my boldness to stand up for what should be self-evident truth? That's fine- it beats the position of making laws which support a people living without fear and doom the ones who do.

Anyone can be anti-gun so long as they never find themselves in a position where they need one. I hear all this nonsense about 'you never need one'. Right. In your little world, most of the time.
The very statement is ridiculous, and yet it's the only thing any of you have brought to the table. So, I don't know what's up with this spontaneous attack on what the fuck I've been debating being that I'm the only one making any real points. Get off your mantles, folks.

A few days ago I read an article on two firemen being killed and a further two injured very recently in an incident in the US in which a man is suspected of having deliberately started a fire and lay in wait to shoot at the emergency services. Cue the chief executive of the NRA to suggest the Fire Department and Paramedics should have an armed escort.

And the idea of there being an army of criminals just waiting for the gun laws to soften for their chance to pounce is the largely unwarranted paranoia I've been referring to this entire thread. The chances of someone breaking into your home with the intention of killing you and your family for no motive past sheer psychosis is remote. If that happens to someone the police generally go by the assumption that the victim did something to prompt the attack because that's what likelihood would dictate. And if it's true that you've prompted this type of reaction whether you deserve it or not if this person is set on it they're going to find you and/or your family in a vulnerable situation and strike anyway (think Cape Fear if you've ever seen it). That's unlikely to happen as it is but it's still much more likely to happen than the purely random and senseless massacre you're describing.

As for pulling guns on muggers.... wow.... you think people won't be getting shot left, right and center and having it blamed on largely unverifiable muggings and assaults?! Who started the fight? A guy is angry and punches you, for all you know he could go on to "brutalize" you (lol) and leave you for dead so you pull a gun. He pulls a gun. Someone gets shot and dies who do the Police believe? The guy who lives to tell his account?

Three men stabbed a man to death in front of his girlfriend in South Shields, UK. If he had a gun, he could have saved his own life and spared his girlfriend a lifetime of trauma.
The UK suggests citizens should learn to run fast and abandon their loved ones.

As for everything else you've stated, it's too weak for me to even respond to. No argument is going to pass which desperately tries to say that guns do not protect. I hereby declare any and all those arguments desperate and stupid on the basis that they are all self-evidently false.

And by that argument, one could easily say that the US suggests all citizens should have access to firearms even if they are complete nutjobs who go and start shooting up schools and shit. :hmmm:

Three men stabbed one guy to death in the UK.... and yet daily people are getting shot to death in large numbers in the US even with every man and his dog owning a gun.

Your statement, or rather the same notion that keeps circulating on this thread, bears no good point. A life is a life, and to each their own. When you make a law that makes some people more at risk and others at less risk, you are fucking failing your country. It is really just that simple.

but more people die in america where you all have guns to protect you than any other country with gun laws....i fail to see how you can argue against that

With the circulating of info, and the redundency of info that's going around in this world, we don't need a thread that does so too.
That mixed with the...problems...that this thread has had, it's time to say so long. Fare well. Gute Nacht.

Because it can be helped- you reach out to people and tell them the importance of being protected. You don't strip all the guns away so the less fortunate die. That's just a bunch of bullshit, and by governments who don't give a damn about manifest destiny or freedom, just population control. That same object is going to put those countries on their knees in due time.
