So, I Was just thinking....how many active players will we be able to control at once? Is it 3 like it has been for the past couple games or maybe like IX where we get to have 4 in battle at once? Does anyone know any info on this subject?

Also, does anyone know how many main characters we will have. Most FF games have 6-9 playable characters. (Not Including Guest spots).

FFVII - 9
FFVIII - 6
FFIX - 7
FFX - 7
FFXII - 6

Any answers? Or just discuss what you want/think it should be.

Hello

i think in FFXIII the main characters will be 5 ..

and the characters names is :..

1- Lightning ..
2- Snow Villiers ..
3- Oerba Dia Vanille ..
4- Sazh Katzroy ..
5- new blond kid i dont know his name ..

for me i think the characters are great ..
the most one i like is vanille she is sooo pretty ..
i like snow and lighnting too ..

and i hope they add more characters one boy i want him to be beautiful boy like cloud huhu and one new girl ,,, i think it will be cool if they did ..

So there are 5 so far? Hrmmm...if that is all the characters I will be abit sad. I love to have an adventure with many characters. So, hopefully they'll put more in.

Are you talking about in a battle or players you can control?

In a battle: 3 (shown in the demo)
Players: 5 atm

I'm sure they will add one, maybe 2 more, Ive not seen anything about this game tbh, I refuse to, I think Ive seen a trailer and that's about it, but if we have seen like, 5 playable chars already, i reckon there will be at LEAST one more

Just so long as we don't have as many as in VI :gonk:

I actually wanted to know the answer to both of those questions. lol. Thanks. I like the idea of having 3 in battle just that 4 would be kinda cool too. I remember IX having 4 in battle and I enjoyed it alot.

As for having 5 for playable characters...meh. I like bigger parties like in VII. Had about 9 to chose from. Hopefully we will get at least 7. Normally it's like 4 guys and 3 girls.

6-8 I like an even amount of guys to girls. and having more than that would be a little much. The main characters wouldn't get much development.

I agree, I reckon it'll be around 6-8, you've seen 5 already in the trailer, and I highly doubt that Square Enix would reveal all the playable characters in the trailers, then you've got to look at it takes the viewpoint of both Lightning and Snow. So yeah, I definitely be a few more. :-)

I was actually thinking if they do have so little characters to choose from, they probably will take the substituting system from FFX and let you interchange party members during battle at the cost of a turn. I think that would be cool, since it was a pretty decent system to say the least.

Well, in X and in XII they had the interchange system so that you had the ability to use all your characters during battle. Hopefully they'll keep that tradition going.

I'm sure more will be added, Gadot and Lebreau would be pretty cool to use.
I thought the young blonde boy didn't fight in battle...???

So far there are 5 (as it was already said). They look quite nice, but I afraid that they'll be a little dull. In the older FFs, the characters were more unique.
They either were from different races or simply had a very original story and attitude.

But in the modern FFs (mainly FFX, FFXII), I noticed that the characters are more "realistic". So they are less interesting to watch in my opinion.
They are less unique and the plot focuses more on their adventure rather then on their own stories.

Anyway, I hope there will be more characters (as much as possible :P) and that there will be parts in which the party is divided into 2 parts (notably like it was in FFVIII).

I kinda have to disagree with that. FFX had plenty of diversity even though it was more realistic than the other FF titles. Everyone was from a different background. Granted Khimari was the only one of a true different race but you had different religion and so much more in FFX.

And in FFVIII, everyone came from the same background, except for Rinoa. I love VIII, no doubt. But, i do wish they spilt up the party every once and awhile because XII didn't do that at all. I do hope to see more characters develop within the game.

It will be 3 in battle which I don't really like, I prefer 4, but it might get a little confusing to have that many characters fighting at once if the battle system is an open system like FFXII.
They say 5 main playable character, but there might be more later.

I'm really hoping the 3 other Nora members are playable. If not, I'm sure other characters will be. There's no way Square would reveal all their characters in a single demo. They didn't do that with any of the others (that I recall), and they've been pretty smart with marketing thus far. More so than to do something like that.

They've never shown all the characters before the game releases? =/. I guess not.

I am hoping they return the "Secret Characters" like they did in FFVII (Vincent, Yuffie) and FFIX (Quina). It would be nice to have an unlockable character that is not really needed to progress the story.
