Omega Weapon

it's completely possible to beat Omega weapon at the base levels of the characters with or without junctions >_>

ok well since people didn't ask for that tho I'll give you the easy way to beat Omega.

first of all you'll need at least 20 aura's maybe ( I think 10 is enough but shit does happen) and have the at least your stats at 9999 hp, 255 str, 160 vit, 150 spr and the rest whatever you please.

ok now I like to go into this battle with Squall, Zell, Irvine for good reasons (no I'm not sexist). Squall because you can't change him lol and he has the second best Limit in the game Lion heart, Zell for being by far the best character in FFVIII due to the Armageddon Fist skill (talk about it later), and Irvine for having Ap and Pulse ammo for free 9999 hp damage each blow. Or you could take the REAL cheap way out and Use Selphie, activate her limit break and open the PS1 disck try you can still cast do-over until you get The End and Omega weapon won't act no matter what giving you a free win.

now hopefully you got a couple energy crystals from Elnoyles to have 100 pulse ammo, 100 meltdowns for vit, 100 flares for Str, and 100 Regens for Spr, and 100 Full-Lifes for hp. Now you should refine the Laguna or Gilgamesh card with card mod and get 10 holy wars or 100 heros for invincibility (the only way to avoid the instant kill Terra Break). And it doesn't hurt to have 100 death junctioned to your Status Defensee to avoid a lvl 5 death 2 seconds into the match.

Now that you prepared go fight the bastard.

1. With Squall immediately go into summons and use Cerberus to give everyone double or triple status

2. Whoever has the Aura's (preferably Irvine) use triple and cast aura on everyone.

3. Now with Zell use a Holy War to make everyone invincible.

4. Use a meltdown with Squall on Omega to give him 0 vit

4. Now Zell will deal the first set of godly damage with the almighty Armageddon fist. The Armageddon fist goes in this order Booya, Punch Rush. Spam these two command attacks and you'll hit him about 20 times in 4 seconds for about 100k damage.

5. Now you use Irvine and do the Shot super and use those Pulse ammos you got from refining those energy crystals for a free 9999 damage each shot for about 3-6 shots.

6. Now Squall uses his limit and hits for about 8000+ each hit and if you get Lion Heart then almost another 200k is gone from his health.

Wash, Rinse, Repeat and he's done as long as you don't eat a terra break. Done and Done

I couldn't be assed to read the other people's posts.

Alright my way of defeating omega was:

Have auto haste, aura or low health, on Zell and Squall.

As soon as the battle begins shoot off with Zell's limit break and do the little moves such as "up, down" ; "left, right" on the directional pad. And keep alternating between those two moves.

If time runs out you just use Squall's limit break and hope for the lionheart move and that is how I won, honestly. lol.

With Zell's limit break it took foreverrrr and you have to be quick but it did the trick...OH! Make sure you draw Eden before you do all this.

I feel rather confident from my most recent playthrough. I had intended to finally attempt to fight Omega Weapon but became impatient with Ultimecia's Castle and just went straight up to defeat her. However, I've been itching to go back down now and finally attempt to defeat him.

Stuff it, I'm going to do it. If I'm successful, I'll post back with my exact statistics, party and strategy. Before I go, though, let me check the essentials: Aura [I have 100 for each character], Hero/Holy Wars/Holy War-Trials and each of the final weapons. Am I missing anything?

use cerberus at the start of the match so you don't waste time individually casting aura and cast meltdown at the start of the fight and that's it.

That's a given, anyway. :gmonster:

Excluding the Cerberus thing. I don't think I've ever summoned my GFs since the battle with Ifrit, which was only for the sake of seeing the dialogue, once you've summoned Shiva. I suppose the triple will help when I need to heal.

As some added protection, I've refined about 5 Phoenix Pinions and junctioned my Luck as high as possible.

when i beat him, i made sure to beat him within the first 3 or 4 turns. i think on the 5th he uses his attack that pretty much wipes out your party. i forget what it's called.

anyways, i had haste on squall, along with aura, and he was weak. if you junction ultima on your speed, you move wayyyy faster than omega. and he just can't keep up. so basically start out the battle using lionheart. rinse, lather and repeat. but yeah, dead before the 4th turn.

Yes, you must defeat him fast or you'll lose. =/.

He's quite quick as well, use auto-haste to and limit breaks to your advantage. =D.

Casting GF's will be useless becuase he will whipe them out quickly. -__-;; Just a waste of time.

^ not really. the only thing you should be afraid of is Terra Break since that's the only attack that can kill your characters (or should be able to.) Just use the strategy I posted it'll cover all that.

Ugh, I finally got around to attempting Omega Weapon this morning. I'd make a help thread on this but I can't see the need, when we're practically offerring help in this thread, anyway.

So the battle commenced and Squall was the first to take his turn [with Auto-Haste] and so I cast Meltdown and it succeeded. Zell was next and so I immediately entered Squall into an Aura state. Squall managed to sneak in a Renzokuken before Rinoa's turn and I made her cast triple on herself [so to save time on casting GF Cerberus]. My next move was to use a Hero on everyone [I have no Holy Wars] but Omega used Level 5 Death on me - having all three characters at Level 100 meant that the battle was over immediately.

I would have used the Heroes immediately but I've read that you cannot enter Limit Break status when invincible, so you have to cast Aura before this. Basically, how do I avoid Level 5 Death and still manage to use my Limit Breaks?

Simply junction 100 death to your status defense. Omega will always have this as his opening move so you have to have this if your level is 100.

I managed to beat Omega on my last playthrough, but then again that was the only time I attempted it. I used Squall, Zell and Rinoa and just kept using Aura over and over haha.

Luckily I got Lionheart near the middle of the battle so that really helped.

YES, it's soo awesome I finally defeated Omega Weapon. It is very hard, and I wouldn't have been able to do it without the Defend, Revive and Recover cammand abilities. But man did it feel good knowing I beat the most powerful boss in FF8. I really love this game apart from FF7 which is still my favorite. This one will probably always be my second most favorite of all time. BTW always have one member use Defend so if he uses Terra Break you'll be able to survive.

Finally beat him for the first time today. Simple low hp then holy war strategy with Zell, Squall & Irvine. Gilgamesh made a delightful appearance in the middle of the fight wih excalipoor, thanks.....

I beat omega when my characters were in the 90s, with squall being 99. All i did was keep aura up on squall, zell and irvine. it took me 3 or 4 lionheart limit breaks from squall to kill him, but i got him down eventually. Good luck to anyone whos going to fight him! it's a long long fight if u dont do it right

Hi. Just wodering who managed to defeat Omega Weapon and how? I found it impossible! What level would you recommend that the characters shoudl be before attempting this? And has anyone got some good tactics for this fight?
Any level.
If you use the right magic he can't hit you. You win.
Aura
Renoa's limit the one that makes all party members invincible.
Easy.

Here’s the tactic that I incorporated in order to defeat the big lad. First of all, I used one of those portable-save crystals as a precaution just before the fight in case I died fighting him. Second, most of my characters were completely maxed-out at level 100, I then casted Aura on my characters and kept on hammering the triangle button trying to get as many of Squall’s awesome LionHeart limit breaks in as I could. Zell’s limit-break came in great-use as well. Then, to finish the big lad off I used Rhino’s kamikaze ability, inducing a sickening 50,000 HP points in one single blow! “BOOM!” That was the sound of the impact after Rhino sacrificed her own life and ran head-first into Omega’s stomach. Unstoppable.

*blink* first theres no such thingema as a *portable save crystal* second you would of been dead before most of that would of happened, mainly cos of lv5 death.

anyhow i killed the boss and my minimum levels. hes actually easier than the first 3 bosses, just cos you have no junctions = not good.

now then, you need an angel wing rinoa for this (pm me if you want details of this setup(can also use an invincible moon rinoa but i couldnt have that as id already learned everything else :/) a squall who is your healer and cerberus(at 1000 friendship) caller, and zell who is you limit spammer.

first move:
-squall takes initiative, cerberus gets called as zell has aura ready on the magic list, rinoa stays as she is.
-cast triple aura
-rinoa uses angel wing
-O.W uses lv5 death, noone dies.

2nd move
-squall triple meltdowns
-rinoa uses meteor (note this is the only 'enemy effecting' magic in her inventory) for around 3000-4000 per hit.
-zell uses limit 1000-3000 per hit (can get 45 hits in in a long duel)

3rd move
-squall uses triple protect
-rinoa uses meteor
-zell limits

now repeat healing and re-stocking your magics when needed and it goes down in no time

Holy wars...heroes...if you don't have those items, Rinoa's invincible moon. I was lucky enough to get it nearly every time. :D

So yea, play loadsa cards. XD

And then watch the carnage. :X On him, naturally.

i got invicable cant remmember what item it is.. i card modded laugna i ccried when i did it.. and got 100 Hero drinks and used them on squall over and over with his limit break lion heart which worked really really well for me.. same method i used for the last boss.
