One Hit Wonder Characters

General Leo. Hands down. He played a key role in Terra's character development. And he proved that in a group of evil men, there can be at least one (if not a small faction) of people who are just, fair, and treasure life.

I see I'm not the only one who took a shine to Xu, the most practical and intelligent female character in FF8, with a professional yet mischievous sense of humor. I suppose she didn't get enough screen time to angst.

In a similar vein, Elma and Lucil rocked my socks in FFX. I loved the puppy-dog lieutenant trying to impress her commanding officer, and Lucil's crisp professionalism tragically marred by her faith in Yevon. I wish they'd gotten more than a cameo at game's end so we could see when and how they woke up to reality. I can't imagine them falling for the "Yuna is a traitor" schtick. They also suffered less character distortion/degradation in X-2 than most.

Unfortunately the American dub for both of them is ghastly. Lucil is much more nuanced in Japanese, and Elma's eager-beaver Utena-like voice makes me smile. (Here's a Youtube clip with their original voices.)

Blank and Beatrix from FFIX.I found Blank cute and make me sad seeing him get petrified.Beatrix, because everyone feared her and I never got to play her in my real party.
Ester-FFVII-It's the girl who becomes your manager on the Chocobo race after the fight of Dyne and Barret.

Beatrix:It's just the way she was rock solid, kicks the party's ass every time. The only reason why Zidane and the gang lived was because she had a sworn duty to protect the princess, which thankfully for the gang, made her a goody (phew). I also liked the romantic dynamic with Steiner, The scene when they were fighting along side protecting Alexandria, was goose pimpley. lol

I can't think of anymore... I'll be back. :P

The funniest without a doubt for me would have to be Baku :D,
i mean come on.. Bumps into Eiko and does his "evil" laugh, seems to have dropped his letter for Zidane and does it again..

And i found it funny that at the end, when the ship's trying to go to Memoria.. Zidane mentioned Baku just LOVES big showdowns.. I could just imagine all the laughing he does again..

Oh and the hypello of FFX& FF X-2..

But hypello's are just the shit, period. ;)

Isaru and his brothers/guardians from Final Fantasy X always struck me as really cool (and in a way tragic) characters, which I would have liked to know more about. Jecht was another character from that game which should have had more screen time.

I think Jecht really should have been playable at some point, since he was so vital to the story. The game could've had some kind of flashback sequences where Tidus dreams about Jecht, similar to FF8.

But yeah, Jecht is probably my favorite side character.

The Tantalus from FFIX, I really enjoyed the bits with them and I'd like to know more about Marcus and Blank. And Beatrix, because she's AWESOME.
Then Lucil, Elma and Clasko (the Chocobo Knights who survive Operation Mihen) from FFX, the always seemed anice group and I liked Lucil a lot.

Mustadio i think is the best one hit wonder Character from the series. He appears once as a playable character in this game but i don't recall him being back in the next FFT game. I think he was replaced by Balthier. He had a cool design and the story behind him was very cool too. He played a huge part in FFT which leads me to believe i might be wrong about him not reoccurring in FFT:War of the Lions :gasp:

Jecht would have been pretty kickass to have as a party member. Though... I could just see him and Tidus duking it out for who gets to use the blades. XD

As for the humor quality, there should have been so much more of the old priestess woman in Yuna's village. The one that goes "stay away from the summoner!" in that horrible voice. And Marlene from FFVII. 'Cause who else is better to tend a bar than a little 6 year old girl?

Blank... :woot: Hotty... ^^ Bwuahaha.

I'd have to agree with that character, I think. o_0

Luzzu in FFX. He was such a strong character, even for a minor one. If he didn't die (or had the option for him to die), I think he definitely would've taken Lucil's place. I loved how he was very in control, not only of himself, but others aswell.

Don Corneo from Final Fantasy VII.
I think it's funny how he tries to 'choose' whatever girl he would date. And even tries to kidnap them. And President Shinra (not Rufus). I kinda liked his style other than Rufus's and would very much like to see him throughout the game instead.

The other is Mr. Coates from FFVII. If you don't remember him, he's the black guy with silver hair that works under Dyne in Corel Prison. He wears a green jumpsuit and has a big gold necklace. Barret threatens him until he allows you passage into the Chocobo Race. I just think he looks cool

I find it kind of funny that the very first post in here should mention Mr.Coates, for some reason he always stuck out for me too.

A group of friends and I planned on having a fancy dress night out some time soon and the idea of dressing as "rubbish computer game characters" came to miind (geeky, I know) and instantly I thought of Mr.Coates. Another good one that I considered was Zangan, a character so insignificant they even took out of the story in Crisis Core!

the turk wit da red hair seemed prty cool in cc also reks vaans bro

can we try to type in English please (lol irony) Im having such a hard time reading your posts they just dont make sense

Also could you elaborate on these choices too? thanks flower

Zangan from FFVII Tifa's martial arts trainer I liked the Look of him when i first saw him Would like to have seen him have a bigger role

Oaka the merchant from FFX I think he was just different having him around where ever you go and his accent was hillarious

Fine seed money for the O'aka merchant empire! ¬Much obliged, lad! I'll be sure to pay ye back! ... :D

I second the mention of O'aka in FFX. I liked his 'wheeler-dealer' personality (aided by a good voice actor), he reminded me of a Final Fantasy version of Del Boy (people in the UK might know what I mean there). And then there's an extra dimension added to his character when you learn why he has been so keen to help Yuna, I found it rather sweet.

Beatrix. I wanted her to play a bigger part in the plot. I loved her thing with Steiner. And she was a pretty deep character for being a minor one.

I would have enjoyed the FF series to go more into depth about certain groups of characters like the ones from Tantalus and the Turks. I sort of feel like it was only skin deep and they could have done a better job of presenting the characters of those groups.

Here is a good example, the SeeD at Balamb Garden. Okay...we know Squall. We know Selphie and Zell because they helped Squall...Quistis is the professor... And Cid is the headmaster. Okay well...you could go more in depth about it. @_@ And the people. 3 people that slobber over Quisitis... Then we have the bullies like Seifer. It just seemed like they only had these characters to fill "roles" that they needed filled. They didn't seem like people. -_-
