Right... I hit Lindblum with:
Dagger-10
Zidane-9
Vivi-8
Steiner-6

I think my Steiner is a bit underleveled, actually, because I don't like him XD But with my Dagger, I was trying to make her useful before disc two by getting her enough MP to summon things. I'm failing at it, needless to say, but I still hope to level her up enough to make her useful for Treno's weapon shop. Also, what level does Freya come in at? I can't seem to remember, and I'm too lazy to go check :P

Wait. What if my whole party is underleveled? :gonk:

Well, I think you're a bit underleveled, but I'm not too sure since I haven't played in a while. But by the time I reached Lindblum, my party members are somwhere around levels 15-17 at best. Guess I just like training.

As for Freya, I really can't actually say, but my guess is somewhere around 12-14? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but that's how I remember it.

O.O BUT HOW?! The monsters outside of Lindblum only give about 20-40 EXP to your full party... That's a LOT of training >.> I hate leveling so so much... *sigh* I'll... go consult a guide or something when I'm less lazy.

... I can one hit kill the monsters outside of Lindblum with Zidane and Steiner, I checked. I think that should be good? :sad2:

Don't worry! If you can do that, then there's no actual problem. Besides, I tend to train a lot, so that's how it went with me. Just level up a couple of times or something and I'm sure you'll be fine. Did you upgrade your equipment?

Yeah, I'm an equipment whore. I upgrade it with each thing you can buy/steal, learn the abilities, and then Synth it into new stuff, like you're supposed to :P I end up with anywhere from 1-7 of each thing, because I also farm gil like nobody else XD I hit Lindblum with a little over 20,000 in my pocket.

I suppose I'll just train when Dagger and Steiner leave the party. I should level up faster with a smaller party... I think. So I'll get Dagger high enough to summon, and Steiner high enough to be useful, and I don't know what I'll do with the rest.. hmm...

Well, that's good. I hate gil farming 'cause I spend it anyway. Yup, your party's in pretty good shape so far. Just lvl. up a bit. And wait! How is Steiner not useful? I use him constantly! Especially when Vivi is in my battle party with him. I find him pretty useful.

Vivi+Steiner=Win.

One of the things I really liked about FFIX was that level grinding was pretty much unnecessary. If you're progressing normally through the game, and learning the abilities, you should be good to go.

Yeah, I also liked the fact that this game didn't require hours of grinding. I almost didn't grind at all and still managed to get through (although I was probably underleveled towards the finish, but in the end that didn't matter). The abilities system was a good one.

Would say that your party is fine Rinoa. Not really a fan of hardcore leveling either. Battle theme music can drive you bonkers. @-@

Level up a bit before heading into the grotto. Level 12-13
And make sure you get Zidane's Ogre double- weapon before leaving

Level up again after Kuja's appearance. About Level 14- 17
Then before heading underground about level 20-25

And you SHOULD be fine.

Hopefully, I haven't played FF9 in ages.

But was way below the levels your party has now, and made it through the game just fine. Good luck ^-^

As I recall this game didn't require much power leveling. In fact, you want to keep your levels fairly low until you get optimal equipment. That way when you do max your levels you can get the best stats possible

Level Steiner up, there's a few parts where you have him on his own/with liike one other person, plus he can be quite the power house

I think I'l move this over to the help booth for you

Your party is in good shape. My guys usually suck like that when I first get to Lindblum, too, but they turn out good in the end. And, unfortunately, your Steiner is gonna suck for a while. He gets better...eventually......like somewhere in disc 2.

Following Lindblum you obtain two new characters - both of which assume the same level as Zidane. Suffice it to say, you should at least level him up to around 15-16; anything higher is unnecessary, but it saves you having to grind with an entire party on your hands [having to spread out earned EXP etc]. Additionally, levelling Zidane is useful for the Festival of the Hunt.

For training Zidane, you'll get an opportunity to solo with him; run to the forest area in front of the city to encounter Bombs. They give 175 (or something) EXP per kill, which makes for easy training.

Vivi could definitely do with some training. It might be worth your time killing off some other party members just so you can boost him a little so that he's at least on par with the others.

Although as said, you don't really need to grind/spend much time training. A few levels here and there as you're progressing through areas should be fine... though you'll definitely come to appreciate Steiner later on, so I'd advise giving him some attention.
