The trailer also still features that recognizable GLaDOS voice, courtesy of voice actor Ellen McLain, though del Toro recently told the Toronto Sun that McLain’s voice won’t be processed in quite the same way in the final mix. (“The filter we’re using is slightly less GLaDOS,” he said. “Slightly. The one in the trailer I wanted to be full-on GLaDOS.”)
The makers thought the idea of the giant robots being piloted by a single person seemed too 'superhuman'. There's actually a featurette explaining that very question.

I guess it's reasonable enough, though opting for two pilots doesn't really make it seem all that less 'superhuman'. In the old comics and cartoons these robots were based off, there would typically be a crew of about four or five. Maybe they thought that might be a bit too much for film.
