Pokémon: Ashes of Dreams [OOC]

Noctis, that profile is fine~

OK, I'm going to spend the majority of this week (because it will take me most of the week...I'll be very surprised if I'm done before the 20th, when we'll start provided we have enough people ready and positions filled) working on the route-by-route guide.
My question is, how would people want to see this information presented? There are three options:
1) A list of Pokemon under Route headings, with a general level range for all the Pokemon along the route.
2) A table, in Pokedex order, of where the Pokemon can be found, as well as the rough level at which you'll find them.
3) Option 1, only replace names with icons

Option 3 will probably be the prettiest (and it'll take the longest) but you won't be able to do a search function for names, and every time someone asks me where something is, I'll just point them to the guide. It's up to you guys, though~

Option 3 would take the longest, but it seems more effective. If they want to know Pokemon names, they can consult Bulbapedia or Psypoke.

I think option one would be the best because I don't know many of the newer pokemon, so I don't know anything about it just by seeing the picture. With the names, I'd be able to look it up in the pokedex and see the sprite.

I would go with option 1, its the easiest and most efficent way...its easier to look up a name rather than a picture.

Names would be best. We can all look at Serebii.net to see what Pokemon it is if we're unfamiliar with it.

Option 1 seems the best from where im sat as i am not entirely sure on all the pokemon, and having not played black and white versions, i have no idea what the latest pokemon look like, so option 1 works best for me

i think I'd have to say option 1 for exactly the same reasons everyone else has already given, I.E. I've not got a clue (really) about anything past ruby and sapphire at a push, so names followed by a bit of research would definitely be the best way of looking at it!

Looks like the majority of people want option 1, so we'll go with that...however, since I'll be using option 2 to keep track of things (just to make sure I include everything at least somewhere) I may post that up as well when I'm done, just for convenience.

In other news, I'm extending the deadline for starting and profiles: you now have until the 25th of February. This is due to two things: the chaos of server moves, and the fact that a lot of the earlier Gym Leaders haven't been filled.

If you would lik Martel i could make another gym leader, i have no problem doing an extra person if it helps the RP along

I could make a gym leader as well, and one with a twist: as an undercover agent of Team Sol, much how like Koga was a member of Team Rocket.

ok sorry i took so long... my internet is down.=. useing my dsi for now anywey im a starting training trainer...but as a rull for my charctor i thinking i can only catch bug pokemon but i can find bug type more often

How many Gym Leaders are there and how many do you need? I might be able to come up with something. What do Gym Leaders do besides battling trainers for gym battles?

1st Gym Leader Application:

Name: Prof. Ray
Age: 35
Gender: Male
Hometown: Carmine City

Appearance: Ray has Dark Blue short hair and Green eyes. He wears a lab coat and is constantly carrying around a Clipboard. His pants are black as are his shoes and he wears a brown belt, his undershirt is a lighter shade of grey.
He has small round glasses that sit atop his nose and he is constantly pushing them up with his index finger.

Ray.jpg

Personality: Ray is a typical nerd. He sits in his lab all day everyday studying plants and plant pokemon. He has no social skills what-so-ever and often stutters when he talks. He doesn't really have a strong relationship with anyone, not even his pokemon, which he doesn't spend much time training.
He mostly just conducts non evasive experiments on them anyway.

Bio: Ray was born in Carmine City with his Mother and father. They were both business people so they were away from home quite a lot. Ray would spend his days in the Carmine Gardens, studying the many plant species there. He had always focused on his studies and didn't have much time for pokemon. He'd owned an Oddish since the age of 5 when his parents gave him one to keep him company but he'd never really grown attached to it.
All the kids in school didn't really like him and called him creepy plant boy so ray shrunk away and kept to himself.
He is really smart and graduated primary school at age 10, went to high school at 11 and graduated at 16 years of age where he decided to attend a college specializing in Plant Sciences.
at 20 he had finished his course and was now classified as a professor. He still had his Oddish with him but Oddish was still weak and was only used for Ray's experiments.
Ray had won numerous awards for his thesis into the conditions of evolution of Grass pokemon even though he had never actually evolved a pokemon and was eventually offered a position as Gym Leader in Portside city just because he was famous (and infamous with certain natural groups who don't agree how he treats pokemon). He wasn't going to accept until they offered him government funding for his research.
Professor Ray eventually bought himself a Lotad and Shroomish from a farmer in Bleu City just to make his gym more complete.

Additional information - Gym Leader.
Type specialisation: Grass
Gym Description: The outside of the gym just looks like a regular gym, it has the gym symbol on the roof and is a dome like shape. The inside however just looks like a lab, and a messy one at that. Ray takes no pride in cleaning and often just throws his papers around, before each battle he has to quickly sweep the battle arena of his books, rubbish and notes.
There are lots of metal tables around the edges with test tubes and plants and he has his desk with a computer sitting in the back corner of the gym.
Badge name: Root Badge
Badge appearance: The bade is shaped like a little shrub at the top which tangles down towards the bottom like a group of roots, it has a golden border around it.
TM reward: TM 86: Grassknot:
The user snares the foe with grass and trips it. The heavier the foe, the greater the damage.

Pokemon:

Pokemon species: Oddish
Nickname: Noddy
Level: 12
Gender: Female
Ability: Chlorophyll:
When sunny, the Pokémon’s Speed doubles. However, Speed will not double on the turn weather becomes Clear Skies.

Personality: Noddy is clumsy, desperate for Ray's attention and...old. She has been an Oddish for 30 years and she is sick of it. She often disobeys Ray but is quickly scared into battling when he threatens to experiment on her (he is joking....we think)
Noddy doesn't get along with Lotad or Shroomish Very well, they are too 'childish' for her liking.

Brief history: Nody has been an Oddish for 30 years, First meeting Ray when he was just 5. She has traveled all over the world with him during this time, participating in his experiments. Although Noddy is old, she hasn't really gained any life experience with Ray as he never went adventuring with her or anything.

Additional moves: TM86: Grassknot.

Pokemon species: Shroomish
Nickname: N/A
Level: 9
Gender: Male
Ability: Effect Spore:

Sorry...busy Martel has been busy.
Anyways, with Squiddy's new app accepted, the following positions are open: Gym Leaders 2, 3 and 4, and the second Elite Four member. Otherwise, we're all full. If anyone wants to take on another position I'd appreciate it, but I'm keeping the three characters per person cap on, so if you've already got three characters, I'm afraid you won't be able to take on another.

Not every area will have Bug type Pokemon available in it, so needless to say, you won't be able to find bugs in every area. Also, if you're a starter trainer, you can only start with a starter Pokemon~

I'll set some time aside this week to update everything...I have a stupid amount to do.

Here's my Gym Leader/Team Sol Commander #4

Name: Thoma Bannor
Age: 55
Gender: Male
Hometown: Ermine Town
Appearance:
largeAnimePaperscans_Record-of-Agarest-War_nat083__THISRES__283170.jpg

Personality: Thoma is quite the character. Even at his age, he is very flirtatious with of-age females (18 or older). He simply doesn't know when to quit, and which gives his daughter no end of headaches. However, he is also a gentleman at times, and he has a very strong sense of loyalty to friends and rivals. He treats his Pokemon like family and often involves his daughter in helping to care for all of the gym's Pokemon, preparing her to take over the gym once he decides to retire. Also, as a sort of personal code, he is very protective of women, living by his 'code of the gentleman'. As such, he will not tolerate anyone treating a woman badly.

Bio: Thoma was born and raised in Ermine Town. As the elder son of the gym leader's family, he had an early passion for water types, especially those that possessed great beauty like Milotic. Once he turned 10, he received an Oshuwatt as his starter. Together, they traveled the world, competing in contests, even winning the title of Top Coordinator in the regions of Hoenn and Kanto.

Thoma's fascination with beauty extended to females, and seeing himself as a highborn ladies' man, often wooed as many as he could, though only a handful in each region ever accepted his advances. He created a code to live by, which he calls a 'Code of the Gentleman', the top two rules of which are "Never make a woman cry", and "Never raise your hand against a woman".

During his travels and competing for the Anglia league, he met and became a rival of Tobias Adams. It was during his travels there that he also met his future wife Lilly Leonhardt, a stunningly beautiful and talented tomboy of a trainer. He traveled with her and constantly found himself running into Tobias, which would result in a battle. He lost most of the time, winning against his rival only a few times.

He was rather disappointed when Tobias didn't show up for the tournament, hoping to have one grande finale battle against his rival. In the end, Thoma placed in the top four, and after the closing ceremony, he returned to Ermine Town and began a family of his own with Lilly. He took over the gym when his father retired.

Thoma's life of happiness began full swing as he raised his daughter Julia and began to breed his Pokemon. His collection of old Pokemon are retired from battling, living their lives in the aquarium and the gardens of his gym. While he is a specialist in water types, he did pick up Pokemon of various other types as well for their beauty. These Pokemon however, are more family pets, home protection and home maintenance than they are battlers.

Tragedy hit when his wife passed away from breast cancer. Thoma was stricken with grief for a good few years, only to then find out that the wife of his rival Tobias had passed away during child birth. In an attempt to regain his sanity, Thoma resumed his womanizing ways. However, there was no way he could ever truly love another woman, despite his facade.

One day he was approached by a masked man who said that he knew of a way to bring back the dead. Thoma could tell the man was familiar to him, but did not get too inquisitive. While some of the plans sounded rather shady, Thoma agreed to help in order for the chance to bring Lilly back to life. The masked man told Thoma he would need Thoma when the time came for Ho-oh's arrival. He works behind the scenes as a commander of Team Sol, specializing in manipulating his connections to try and find, as well as capture, the legendary Suicune.

While Thoma remains a gym leader, he leads a section of Team Sol specializing in information gathering, using part of his gym as a hideout and communications center. While he still has his old Pokemon retired from battle and uses their offspring in gym battles, he will use his old Pokemon when Ho-oh comes, or in case he really, really needs to use them otherwise.
