Pokémon: Ashes of Dreams [OOC]

Oh my god. you serious? I didn't say she had to skim over them. I said if she really didn't want to read them she could seeing as they've already been posted.

its not like they're huge posts...and I am sure she will know to skim over the ones that don't directly involve her character (which are most because we know she isn't online atm).

I'm sorry but you did. You said directly there, that if it doesn't involve Martel, then they pretty much don't have to read anything. Which is apalling and unfair, as that pretty much suggests that we don't need to read any of the Gym Leader posts since that doesn't directly involve any of us, which is then unfair to them.

I didn't know I wasn't allowed to post more than 1 post in an hour!! How was I meant to know that? I read the RP rules and there was nothing on that. I also read the whole OOC and Info thread on this RP and saw nothing regarding this either.
It's a general RP Rule that SpeedPosting is frowned upon (A former RP Mod agrees with me on this), it goes hand in hand with Godmodding. Most people here who have been RPing for any amount of time would be familiar with it.

There should be some posting guidelines if people want, don't make people feel like shit because they posted more than they're apparently meant to. Don't tell me I am not considerate either, that is RUDE of YOU. If I had known these 'rules' that aren't posted anywhere i would have followed them, same with anyone else!
I'm not trying to make anyone feel like shit, if I were, I wouldn't be involved in the RP myself. I would be be blatantly attacking you for no reason. I was merely asking that people simmer down and try space things out before it overwhelms the others who are in the RP, but don't post as frequently.

Not everyone is in the same timezone as everyone in the RP. Some people work, some people go to school, some people are asleep. I wasn't saying you yourself were being inconsideration, just that your actions were.

You're also exaggerating, saying she has to read through 3 pages when its really only one and a half.
At the rate it was going with 6 replies in an hour from people, it very well could/can/might snowball into 3 pages over night.

All that said, Martel modding the RP is being considerably lineant. As far as 90% of RP's go, a posting order is initiated from everyone's first post at the start of the RP, and that others aren't typically allowed to post beyond that order. And while enthusiasm is great in a new RP, just be grateful that we're not always waiting on the next RP from someone else. But do try to show some restraint from posting every hour.

You're blowing what I said way out of proportion. I am sure she wouldn't skim through the posts because obviously she likes this RP or she wouldn't have started it.
I didn't mean for what I said to be so offensive. D:'

I just meant if she wanted to she could if it was really such a bother to read a page of posts.
My word is not Law though, she isn't going to skim through them because I said so. :S

Also I actually didn't know GodModding also meant SpeedPosting. I thought GodModding was taking over someone else's character.
I don't really understand how I was meant to know GodModding also meant SpeedPosting... but ok... sorry I didn't understand the meaning of godmodding. Now I do! :)

Anyway, sorry I got annoyed at you, I get you were trying to help.

Thanks...

Thank you. Like you said, merely trying to help. But it's not my RP so I can't force others to do anything.

Firstly, just real quick: Toni, did you want to move that post of yours to being after Hime's? If yes, just copy it and post it again, and then I'll delete the first one. That way you get the credit for it, etc.

Secondly, about speed posting. I'm never one to dampen enthusiasm for an RP. So many posts in succession is not a bad thing in my eyes. And glancing at the RP thread itself, I don't see a slew of posts between/among 2 or 3 members. In fact, the RP leader itself actually posted twice within an hour, within 3 posts. So clearly that isn't an issue with them. Now, in general terms, the issue tends to work itself out, since certain members have to wait for other members to act before they can themselves, etc. It only becomes a problem if, like I hinted at earlier, 2 or 3 members take it upon themselves to further the plot. So there's also a bit of relativity with it. Even if a handful of people are speed posting, if they're not going anywhere, it's not really an issue.

That, in general, is why there is no rule against speed posting. It's kind of an awareness thing for each individual involved, and for the RP master in general. Now, if Martel wants to come in and establish a rule for this particular RP, that's perfectly fine. But I'm not going to establish anything specific in the general RP rules about it.

In general, just use your best judgment. If it's not plot-specific, you're probably fine. If you're doing plot-related stuff, might wanna take a breather here and there.

When I think about it, there would be a chance that my knows Himeno and Martel's characters at least a little bit since they all live in the same town. :hmmm:

Thanks TTT I would love if you could move it, the only problem is it would have to be betwen Hime's Post and Nocts post, is it possible to move a post between two others?
If not I am fine having it how it is and will just be careful when posting in the future.

Also thank you for clearing all that up :) I'll still becareful when posting too many things at once tho

Haha... that was funny. Seriously.

So to summarize, Speedposting is ok it it's moving around or training, but as soon as Team Sol or a major event occurs, slow ya jebus's down!?

You know, by the way, Martel should really enable PM's again, that way the OOC thread has less rage~ :wacky:

Wasn't funny at the time >:C
but now I am feeling a little freaked out about posting haha

It would be cool if we could know about the pokegear thing though (to get back on topic) I guess no one thought to ask if/how we get it before it was mentioned in the RP :)

Aww, i'm sorry Toni i was just joking :sad3:

As for pokegear, you usually get that from yer mom or whatever in-game, but in the anime you get it from the professor.

I reckon you should get it from the professor.

Er..... not that I'm aware of. I think that would involved changing the timestamp on the post, and I wouldn't know if that's possible. So I guess we're just stuck.

Not necessarily. The main thing is to keep in mind what's best for the overall pace of the RP.

Not necessarily. The main thing is to keep in mind what's best for the overall pace of the RP.

Overall pace of the RP? i can imagine that would fluctuate quite a bit though?

Yep. If a good number of people are posting several times per day, or thereabouts, then the overall pace is naturally going to pick up. On the flipside, there are times when there may only be a few posts per day. So there are down times as well.

Freakin' hell, what happened here last night?!

I have no problem with people mass posting, provided everyone in their group gets a turn at posting. So, if you're chatting one-on-one with someone, you take turns in talking, obviously. If you're including a third person in that conversation, you wait and let them have a turn at speaking as well, you don't leave them behind and ignore them. It's common sense. You post six times in an hour when you're talking to two other people, and one other person only gets one post in that hour, then we're going to have a problem.

People also shouldn't worry about what they're doing unless I explicitly point it out. I'm not someone who minces words about, or dances over issues - if I don't like it, I will tell you. I will explain why, of course, but you'll know about it if you move too quickly and leave others behind, do something that contradicts the main point, or is just plain confusing in context. This is a big, potentially confusing RP, and I'm not a dictator - mistakes will be made, and if I wasn't prepared for that, I wouldn't have started this RP. Relax, have fun, and just make changes if I ever request them, and we'll have no issues.

Don't worry too much about upsetting me - I have a short temper, yes, but if I wasn't prepared to read through a shit-ton of posts or anything else that comes with an RP, I wouldn't have started it. Just make sure you let everyone get a turn. Pull ahead of people and I'm not going to crack down on you for posting too much, I'm going to crack down on you for excluding others. Everyone needs to enjoy themselves here - being eager is fine, just don't have fun at the expense of other people. If you're with people, let them get a word in edgeways as well.

This hasn't become an issue yet, because people have been talking one-on-one, but it was something both Channy and TTT mentioned, so it was something I felt the need to explicitly state at this time, to stop it before it even starts. The only reason I haven't said anything about it before is because I honestly didn't think I needed to.

Things will get a little less chaotic once we split up, I think. I think I'm going to say no more than three people to a group, unless you really want to travel with particular people. Obviously we'll cross paths over the course of the RP, but having three people in a group should mean that things move at a moderate pace, plus it makes for better interaction between people. We can discuss who is going to be in what group when everyone is present at the lab and I'm just about to have Rose hand out starters.

However, once we do split up, I'm going to make member tags a requirement for posts. Similar to what Robert_Masters has done with his posts thus far: state who you are roleplaying as, who is with you, and where you are.

Also, I am not enabling PMs again, Shinya. It's better to discuss things in a group, so we can share our ideas and make sure nothing runs contrary to anything else. This is why we have an active OOC thread. If you have something you want to say to me, you say it here.

I haven't answered any general questions, but I'm on a deadline this morning; I've got to leave the house at 8am, I won't be really active until tonight. I will answer specific RP related questions and check through bios at that point. I will also be updating the information post with some guidelines. I just wanted to clarify a few things now, since it actually got to a point where TTT had to get involved (thanks for that, by the way, you said everything about pacing I would have said, although much more eloquently. xD) to calm things down, so...yeah.

Hahaha.... well this is interesting, now even Martel got kinda freaked out...

Just thought i should let you all know, i dont post full battles in one post, my laptop heats up too quickly (needs a new fan) and i dont want my hands going all numb from the electromagnetic heat.

Himeno, you totally missed my point. If you're talking only to one other person, it doesn't matter how much you post with them. It's only if you start excluding people who are in your conversations because they can't keep up that we're going to have an issue. Say, for example, you're in a conversation with Jennifer and Rena. Channy isn't online, but you and I are. We both post, say, ten times in an hour, whilst Channy posts twice, because she comes online towards the end of that hour. She'll have missed almost all of the conversation, and her character was meant to be in it.

See my point? The pacing will vary between groups, but it shouldn't vary between the members of that group. I am only concerned with making sure everyone gets a turn and enjoys themselves. If three people have a huge conversation in an hour or whatever, it's fine, as long as they're equal participants. Not EXACTLY equal post-for-post, but you know what I mean.

The overall pacing of the RP, however, is fixed. I'm going to apply restrictions to how quickly people can get Gym Badges; I want everyone to have a Gym Badge before anyone can get the next one. Otherwise people are going to be advancing far too quickly. But I'll worry about that when I come to it. The groups should be relatively evenly spaced out (I plan on having Rose challenge someone (anyone want to get pwned? xD) to a one-on-one exhibition battle, so some people can stay and watch that, others can just get underway, etc...plus I have a couple of other plans I'm still working on and need to discuss when I'm not supposed to be working) so that they won't constantly run into one another, but won't be too far behind, either. The way the map is set up means you can go different routes, as well. You can always train or hang around in towns, as well. Team Sol grunts will be NPCs, and they'll be very active. Plenty to do.

And I'm not freaked out. Just surprised that things spiralled out of control so badly for no apparent reason...it was like waking up to the Apocalypse or something @_@

*goes back to work* Gods, how I hate Tuesday...

Rose can battle Simon if she wants. It'd be a good match considering they're both elites. Not to mention I intend to play out Robert's side story, so those traveling with him will have a bit of a detour starting at when they hit the woodland portion of Route 5 towards Ermine Town, which is where Robert almost died several years ago and where his sister went missing,
along with being where Latios died and became a Soul Dew when he intercepted the bullet fired at Robert after being weakened by the electrifying net like the one used in Pokemon movie 5 Heroes. Also, I'll play out that Celebi is the reason his sister is missing, and she's currently in post-Ho-oh apocalypse and won't return until about Gym 6 has been beaten by everyone in order to warn them of what's going to happen if Team Sol isn't stopped.

5th Gym Leader – Bleu City

Name: Tryllia Klein

Age: 25

Gender: Female

Hometown: Bleu City

Appearance:
Pokemon_FF_Gym_Leader_Mckenzie_by_klnothincomin.png

Personality: Tryllia rarely shows emotion. Although her words are not empty shells, she keeps herself reserved – this, mainly due to her spending most of her time in Bleu Forest amid the Ghost Pokémon. Always calm and collected, she thinks through situations rationally and methodically, always looking for a diplomatic solution as opposed to one that leads to violence. However, she does not stand inconsiderate trainers, or any trainers that push their Pokémon without thought to their well-being. That is the only time you will ever see her angry.

Bio: [I can’t think of a bio right now. Holy shit. This is ridiculous. :rage: ]

GYM INFORMATION

Type specialization: Ghost

Badge name: Frightener Badge

Badge appearance: Know the scary face a Gengar does to try and mess you up? Basically transfer that into a metallic badge form and voila – you have the Frightener Badge. Keeping the purple color of a Gengar, the only other prominent features are the circle of spikes that lies behind the Gengar face.

TM reward: TM30 – Shadow Ball

POKEMON INFORMATION

Pokémon species: Rotom

Nickname: SpookSpark

Gender: Male

Level: 37

Ability: Levitate

Personality: Very energetic, SpookSpark is the complete opposite of Tryllia – but that’s what makes her love him so much. This Rotom is usually kept outside of its ball, as it provides constant entertainment and companionship for Tryllia, and makes gives the quaint Bleu City some liveliness. Very rash and childish, SpookSpark likes to rush into things without thinking, and usually ends up getting hurt or suffers from clumsiness. However, Tryllia’s rational nature helps balance this Rotom.

Brief history: This Rotom was found by Tryllia as a child, abandoned and alone inside one of the run down huts left over from the ancient settlers of the region. An explorer as a child, Tryllia stumbled upon the hut by accident, and was mainly attracted by the odd blue light that was shining through the windows. Upon inspection, she found this Rotom – but, frightened, it accidently attacked her with a Thundershock attack. Although she was all right, the Rotom believed he had actually killed her – and ever since, wouldn’t leave her side. Since he already was following her, Tryllia simply caught him in a Pokeball as a formality.

Additional moves: TM58- Endure, TM30 – Shadow Ball, TM18 – Rain Dance, TM25 – Thunder

Pokémon species: Dusclops

Nickname: Requia

Gender: Female

Level: 34

Ability: Pressure

Personality: Requia has a very nonchalant nature, and rarely takes things seriously. Considered “stuck up” by human terms, this Dusclops pretty much prances around fights and doesn’t put the full 100% behind her attacks. She only becomes serious when the enemy poses a threat to her – usually if she gets damaged – and that, my friends, is when Requia gets extremely angry. Hell hath no fury than a woman scorned, indeed.

Brief history: Tryllia met Requia when she was still a Duskull inside of Bleu Forest. Hit by a stray Thundershock attack, the Duskull went into frenzy and attacked. In the angry frenzy, however, her accuracy was decreased and was easily defeated by the Rotom. Tryllia, as an apology for hurting it before, decided to catch the Duskull and vowed to take care of it.

Additional moves: TM29 – Psychic, HM04 – Strength, TM26 – Earthquake, TM79 – Dark Pulse, TM15 – Hyper Beam

Pokémon species: Gengar

Nickname: Loki

Gender: Male

Level: 33

Ability: Levitate

Personality: As his namesake suggests, this Gengar likes to play tricks on everyone around him. In battle, he likes to mess with the opponent, lazily hopping around or pretending to be hit by attacks, and then springing back up with one of his own. Every Halloween, Bleu City gets terrorized by this Gengar – although some find it good fun, others just get angry. As such, this is one of Tryllia’s least liked Pokémon. He constantly tries to make Tryllia mad, but knows his boundaries – he also respects and appreciates everything Tryllia has done for him, and is loyal to the bone.

Brief history: Tryllia found this Gengar when he was still a Gastly, caught in a small hole in a tree in Bleu Forest. After being scared by another one of his fellow Gastly, he tried to get away and didn’t realize there was a tree in front of him. Although ghosts can go through things, he was so worked up that he couldn’t. Tryllia came along and helped him get free, and ever since then they have been together.

Additional moves: TM29 – Psychic, TM19 – Giga Drain, Move Tutor – Sucker Punch, TM65 – Shadow Claw.

Squid took Gym Leader #6, I believe you mean Gym Leader #5. Bump their levels down to 33, 34 and 37 (which one is which is up to you) and it'll be fine once you finish it~

In other news...there is no other news yet. I'm going to type up an RP post, then I'll be sifting through this thread to answer questions, etc.

Fixed, Martel. :D And sorry about that. I guess I misread on your previous post.
I'll be working on the 2nd Elite Four soon, as well, so you can get all the Elite Four spots filled.
