Pokemon Mewtwo = Sephiroth

Alright I just caught up with some old Pokemon videos. And I can not believe I didn't see this before !!! But the story about Mewtwo is completely ripped off from Sephiroth !

He was created by scientists to be the ultimate fighter, but ended up wanting to rule the world. And what did he end up doing right before the final battle? Cloning pokemons!!!! Like Sephiroth made clones of himself !!!

Who was Mewtwo defeated by? Mew, the original or better version of himself. Just like Cloud defeated Sephiroth. Cloud bearing Jenova's genes, basically being the good version of Sephiroth.
 
Honest to God, Marius, I was thinking this EXACT same thing. And I mean EXACT. Except I was catching up on the videos maybe 3-4 weeks ago.
 
lol yeah heh, great to see other agreeing. I just heard the pokemon theme again and got completely hooked on seing videos with the theme song in:P

"I know its my destinYyY!!!!!"
 
Lol! Yeah. My friend started singing the theme song in science class and everyone was staring at him. And then me and another friend started singing along.
 
hehe, i understand that they kept on making loads of new seasons and that its now up to 500 pokemons or something lol. we only saw the first season here so to me, the story of mew and pikachu and the original season was the best, are they still making the show? i know power rangers are haha
 
I'm aware that Kids WB is still making the show. Although I no longer watch it, as the first season with Mew and Mewtwo was the best, and now they are just adding more guys, who are not nearly as cool and just complicating the whole thing. 151 is enough.
 
haha i agree! 151 was more than enough, i remember i used to know all their names lol

and again, the gameboy game, pokemon red and blue was such a rip off from FF!!! it was almost exactly like playing an FF game

i remember i used to use moltros, gayardos, charizard.... aaaand i forgot the rest :/

Again, Sephiroth's storyline rules yes, in games it was a revolutionizing story, however, an elite soldier made by scientists has been used in older sci fi movies but not recently

and again, with the cloning and wanting to take over the world etc, they are both very similiar, but similiarity has nothing to do with quality

bad chocolate and great chocolate are both chocolate
 
Uncanny. Interesting find there, I must say. Albeit Mewtwo is a dumbed down version, no doubt for legal reasons. ;p

I wonder if it was intentional though...

Of course! They're both in the same genre! Pokémon must be an FF ripoff, just like Sonic the Hedgehog must be a ripoff of Super Mario Brothers because they're both platform games! Why didn't I see it before? Most of the elements of Mewtwo's story that make it similar to Sephiroth's aren't actually in the Pokémon games, only in the TV show and the first movie.
 
Most stories are based on something or another from the past, it's very hard today to make a unique story, since there's been that many in the past.
 
I suppose they are quite similar, except that Sephiroths master plan was better and Mewtwo doesn't have the Whole Jenova factor :P

No this is not reality. Just because they are in the same genre doesn't mean they have to use active time battle system. And again, when you manage them in the menu, it's exactly the same, with potions, hp and mp, skills and all that.

Sakaguchi invented the ATB system, I think everyone else than square enix who uses this completely rip off FF.
 
They sooo don't have any new ideas... that sucks.:mad:

I sort of noticed the whole similarity too. But I was like, 2 years old when 7 came out, and I didn't really fancy poke'mon then so...

Pokémon does not use the ATB system. It is turn based. In the first two generations of Pokémon, you could only have one party member in battle at a time, but you could switch him/her/it for another party member, in contrast with Final Fantasy where your entire party was in battle at the same time. In Pokémon, each skill has it's own amount of PP, instead of there being an MP pool as in most Final Fantasy games.

And again, when you manage them in the menu, it's exactly the same, with potions, hp and mp, skills and all that.

You're just mentioning standard RPG elements, and Pokémon doesn't even have MP.
