Pokemon Mewtwo = Sephiroth

Those aren't standard RPG elemtents and would never have existed without Final Fantasy. You take them for granted now, but you can thank Square for this, and you should really try some other RPGs, cause not everyone copies Square. You have the point and click type, the real time actionbased type, the first person type, and many more.
 
Are you suggesting that the the majority of the console-RPG genre is a ripoff from Final Fantasy? It wasn't even the first game of the genre. Point and click games are classed as adventure games, not RPGs, and action games are action games. Lots of games nowadays have some RPG elements, but that does not make them RPGs.
 
and there are RPG games that have other platform elements also...such as kingdom hearts, and FF style games with combo based attacks such as Legend of Dragoon.

i doubt it was intentional to make mewtwo have the same kind of background as sephiroth, altho it does seem strange how similar they are :/
well no1 will know the truth besides the creators of pokemon..
 
This connection is completely absurd. Pokemon Blue/Red was released a year earlier than Final Fantasy 7, meaning that there is no way that Game Freak and Nintendo could have even known about Sephiroth. Not only that, Sephiroth is certainly not a clone of Cloud, so the mew/mewtwo connection is quite a stretch. Plus, Mewtwo relents in the movies while Sephiroth remains evil, so they really have little in common.
 
Newtwo was made as a tool by an evil corporation.

He hates humans for the evil they commit.

Sephiroth is an idiot who read some books, went insane and then later has no reason for being evil because he should have learned his reason for going evil is non-existent.

Sephiroth's plot is pathetic, really.

You'd have to find a mistake to correct first. Point and click games, such as those that use the SCUMM engine, are graphical adventure games. They are not part of the RPG genre. They probably should be, but they're not categorised as such.

Don't people have a clue on these forums? Pokemon didn't even exist when Final Fantasy VII did.
Pokemon red and blue for gameboy was released in 1998. Final Fantasy VII was released 31'st of January 1997.
And even if it was the case that it came before VII, which it isn't, it would still be a copy of Final Fantasy since the series has used the same battle system since 1987.

What? You mean the series that has never used the same battle system twice in a row? The battle system in Pokémon isn't the same as any of the FF battle systems. If Pokémon is a ripoff of Final Fantasy then Final Fantasy is a ripoff of Dragon Quest.

That's the anime. Not the game. Speaking of the anime, I'd like to point out that Mewtwo in the anime had a good reason for being all pissed off at humanity. His closest friend had died, but he realized that the scientists simply just cloned another one in her place like they were expendable. Sephiroth got pissed for just reading some books and just made idiotic assumptions.

Either way, it's not as if anyone involved in the creation of Pokémon was being sent to spy on the making of FFVII and steal ideas.
 
Damn thats like actual true ehh Which was made first though? I think FFVII was but just to make sure...
