Nintendo Pokemon X and Pokemon Y

A lot of people don't trust IGN but I thought this was a pretty good article on the new Pokemon game:

They pretty much are just going through screen shots of the trailer and picking it apart and giving theories and info that we already know. It's a good read :hmmm:

To everyone: Yus, Y in the sky, X on the ground, just like a plane... But what is the Z plane? I don't want to have to look it up...

Anyway, I'm really excited for more pokemon spoilers (not the plot, just the pokemon) I can tell this is going to be as big as any other new gen title :ari:

EDIT: After reading the article they could refer to chromosomes :lew: Which means males will buy both copies of the game and females will buy X twice :D
 
Wow, I take back what I said about this in that other thread. :hmmm: This one has actually got my attention. I think the 3D graphics look really neat, and the new designs don't seem so shoddy. At least not from what was shown in the trailer anyway. If the plot doesn't revolve around having to go from city to city beating gym leaders and foiling the plans of some sort of Team Rocket, then I would go as far as saying I'd be looking forwards to this. :D

But, if it's gonna go with the same formula as the other games, then I will get bored rather quickly. :hmmm:
 
Some clever chap has come up with a rather interesting take on the games' titles and legendaries. Assuming there will be a Z, is it the case that not only do they represent the 3D axis, but they're also based on Norse mythology with Yggdrasil?

Blind eagle by the top of Yggdrasil = Yveltal?

The stags with their individual gem colours on their antlers = Xerneas?

The sealed wyrm by the roots of Yggdrasil = probable legendary for likely Z game?

Well, Nintendo, if this is true - even though I think your Pokémon games are dull and samey with each iteration, with this generation barely looking anymore compelling than what came before it - kudos to you if this is really what you intended. And I happen to quite love Norse mythology, you crafty bastards. I may even entertain the idea of getting a copy of Pokémon X one day if I ever get my hands on a 3DS just for the Norse inspiration. :ari:

(I wonder if they will throw in anymore Norse references in there if this is the case. I can picture a Team Ragnarok. I also picture a Fenrir Pokémon)
 
I'm surprised no one has posted about the new Eevee evolution Ninfia (Sylveon)

It's type and stuff hasn't been announced... it kind of looks like a normal type to me which I hope it isn't....a lot of people are saying it's a new type. A light type but I doubt they'll bring a new type into pokemon now.

@Squid: I think it's fully possible that it can be a light type because it would fit really well with the contrasting dark type. Besides it's always cool with a new type :woot: in my opinion. The other plausible arguments I have heard for its type besides being the possible new light type are the following:

Normal: much debate on this and lots of negativity regarding this possible evolution. Personally I don't mind as it pretty much looks…well…normal :awesome: I guess it's either because Eevee is already normal or that normal tends to be the "weakest" type that so many fans hate the thought of it.

Flying or bug: the reason is simply because of its name. The name Sylveon is based on "Sylph", which were the Greek air elemental spirits. At the same time Sylvan also means of the forest and when you translate the Ninfia from the Japanese name you get nymph which is a forest sprite as well as being a stage in many bugs' life cycle, the evidence from the names can go either way equally.

Now what I hope is that they don't make it Dragon or steel becuase I want those aspects to look more brutal/cool then cute, my viewpoint of it anyway.
 
Hmmm I was thinking it could be a flying type as well, but in my mind I had always imagined the flying eevee to be more... I dunno... bird-like, with amazing wings or something ;_;
The flowy ribbons kind of remind me of wind and flying and stuff though which made me think maybe it was.
I don't want it to be a normal because yeah, Eevee already is normal so it would be kind of lame and Eevee can already learn most of the best normal moves so having this one be normal too would be kind of boring :(

I hope it's a light type, that would be cool but for some reason I just don't think it is.
 
I think that it is most likely that it will be flying based on a few things. First of all it will not be the first flying type to not have wings (unless it glides with those ears straightened out) like Doduo or Gyarados for instance (I agree that it should have a majestic set of wings). Eevee evolutions tend to have the biggest hint of their type in their names like JOLTeon, FLAREon, LEAFeon so most likely this one does to.

Another aspect that might suggest that it can be a flying type is if you look at this official pokemon Eevee evolution picutre. Here every evolution in a direct line from another is weak to that type. For instance Flareon is strong against Glaceon = fire conquers Ice, Vaporeon being Water type is weak against Leafeon which is a Grass. Jolteon would be strong against Sylpheon if it is a flying type.

Oh wow I never really knew that, that's an interesting thought. So more than likely it will be flying then. It's ashame it doesn't have wings or something :(
 
According to a recent leak. (Much more easy to trust than the whole pokedex leak which I think is fake) Sylveon is 100% female and will evolve by a new bond mechanic. It is pure flying type.

Other possible leaked info includes


  • Sylveon is a pure Flying-type Pokemon (in most cases, Flying-type Pokemon are dual-typed) and can only be female.
  • Sylveon is said to evolve as a result of a bonding mechanic.
  • Xerneas’s typing is Psychic/Ground.
  • Yveltal’s typing is Fighting/Flying.
  • New Pokemon: A pre-evolution of Tauros.
  • New Pokemon: An evolution of Torkoal.
  • New Pokemon: An alternate evolution of Wynaut, a counterpart to Wobbuffet.

Are those news sites REALLY using /vp/ as a source? Seriously?
 
It's all just rumors and speculation at this point. Everything that doesn't come directly from Nintendo or Game Freak should be taken with a grain of salt. Some of it might end up being true, some of it is probably 100% bullshit. No real way of knowing.
 
Most likely. But an entire Pokedex seems like an awful lot of work to go through and forge. Although some of those sound pretty awesome, such as some of the throw-back pre-evolutions to prior generations. But it had Sylveon as a Normal type, so someone isn't right about it.

The guy admitted it himself. These were just ideas he wanted to see.

The names were a dead giveaway anyhow. They sounded like they were written by 2 year olds. You know right away when something called Houndoomed, or Reptoil is in pokemon, there is a clear problem.

The names that were so hilariously bad? Toilelite, Oozer, Critta, Cratter, Dogsnout, Reptoil(oh you mean reptile?) Houndoomed(lol), Fly'bynyte, Elefante etc. I can name a few more... but those will do.

Throwhem and Sawkem. hur hur hur.

Well to be fair, maybe it's because I'm just a casual outsider who doesn't really play or is into Pokémon in any shape or form, but as fake as that list was, I'd still be convinced. Haven't plenty of existing Pokémon names been laughed at anyway? Seeing a Fly'bynyte honestly wouldn't make me bat an eyelid given that there's a Farfetch'd out there.

Throwem and Sockem got a chuckle out of me though

I was not even posting news? More like leaks that people were speculating for weeks that were laughable and genuinely believed? I see nothing wrong with throwing in the dex.
