Well, long story short, Could someone list a few pros and cons on either console or on which one to buy!? Im more interested in the one that could play the upcoming FFXIII and apparently a remake of FFVII.

Final Fantasy XIII is releasing on both consoles, so you need not worry about that one. As for the remake of Final Fantasy VII, I wasn't aware that was in the works.

Here's a small list of some pros and cons as I see it:

Playstation 3

Pros:

-Comes equipped with Blu-Ray player.
-Tons of multimedia functions.
-Free online service.

Cons:

-Lack of games worth playing.
-Online service leaves a lot to be desired.
-No longer manufactured with backward capability (at least I don't think they are).

Xbox 360

Pros:

-Best online experience.
-Best selection of exclusive titles.

Cons:

-The issue of reliability is still surrounding the Xbox 360.

Personally, I feel that the Xbox 360 is hands down the better of the two at the moment. It all comes down to the games and online multiplayer experience for me...and the Xbox 360 is clearly better than the PS3 in both areas. You may feel differently depending on what you look for in a console.

Final Fantasy XIII is being released for the 360. As for VII, is that defo getting a remake??? There have been rumors, but has anything been written in solid stone yet?

In my opinion a 360 is better, hence the reason I got it instead of a PS3. I love Sony, but I wasnt impressed with the games. I have alot of 360 games and plan on getting more. it has more RPGs then the PS3, even Square Enix have allowed their games to be played on 360, Lost Oddessey, Infinite Undiscovery, Final Fantasy XIII, etc.

But at end of day, your cash.

I'm going for the PS3 for the pure fact it has more going for it.

- Online play is rapidly advancing with the trophy system now set in place and with Home to be on it's way fairly soon, so imho, by time FFXIII comes out the PS3 will have surpassed the 360 online play.

- Online is FREE. Sorry, but I really think that having to pay for online is an absolute con and unnecessary.

- If you're a graphics person then the full potential of the PS3 hasn't been touched so there is room for much improvement which is promising. The only problem is that games generally look better on the 360 when released on Multiplatform because they're made for the 360, whereas, exclusives look better on the PS3 (all being said, I still have 110% certitude that FFXIII will look better on the PS3 opposed to the 360.)

- Speaking of FF, even though Sony doesn't own rights to Final Fantasy it is more than likely the series will continue on PS3/Wii etc. Whereas, that doesn't look the case with

- Exclusives...I really hate this debate but does the 360 have better exclusives, no. Whilst yes it has likes of Gears of War, Fable and other decent titles it doesn't necessarily mean it has better exclusives. PS3 still has the likes of Uncharted, R&C, Jak and Daxter, MGS4, LittleBigPlanet, FFvXIII and so on. So losing FFXIII as an exclusive title is not a blow since at the same time Sony have nicked Eternal Sonata, Bioshock, The Last Remnant and also clinching a new, exclusive franchise with Rockstar as well as a possibility of having Star Ocean IV.

I won't go into all the positives about the 360 because it has already been done and will continue to be done. But I'd go for the PS3 because Sony have already stated that they are looking for ALL opportunities and imo the future is only bright for the PS3.

From the looks of it, you're a Japanese RPG fan, thus your best option is to get the Xbox 360.

The Xbox 360 has - Infinity Undiscovery, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Eternal Sonata, Star Ocean 4, Tales of Vesperia, Final Fantasy XIII, and The Last Remnant. Which The Last Remnant is coming out before the PS3 version. Not to mention the Xbox 360 is 199.99 now.

As for the PS3... I can only think of two RPGs that are out for the PS3. Folklore, Disgaea 3, and Oblivion, which Oblivion is a western RPG. Folklore got meh reviews. Disgaea 3 got good reviews. The other 2 RPGs that will be out for the PS3 sometime is Final Fantasy XIII and FFXII versus. Maybe Persona 4?

Also there isn't going to be an FFVII remake yet, it hasn't been announced. Even if it is going to be announced at Tokyo Game Show it probably won't be released in 2-3 years. Same with Kingdom Hearts 3 probably, if there is going to be one.

Another issue with the PS3 is that the new 80gigs and the 40gigs both DO NOT have backwards compatibility. The 80gig will be cheaper, but no backwards compatibility to the PS2.

I have both systems, pretty much my PS3 is just sitting there collecting dust. The only PS3 game I have for it right now is MGS4. I use my Xbox 360 a lot more. From a financial stand point, I would go with the Xbox 360. Honestly, by the time FFXIII versus comes out, the PS3 might drop in price and I'm sure you'll have enough money saved up by then.

Get the xbox 360 the ps3 is waaaaaaaaay overpriced.
But if money is not an issue I would go with the ps3 as it is overall a better console, the only problem being no backwards compatibility which realy sucks!!!

I'll Get it on X360!

If FFXIII is due to release five years from now, then I'd be more likely to agree. Xbox Live is simply more user-friendly. Even with the addition of "Home," Sony's going to have to improve other areas to truly overtake Microsoft here. While the PSN is improving, Xbox Live will be as well.

Some people settle for the poor online experience instead of paying to experience a better one. You get what you pay for. Millions of people recognize this, which is why Xbox Live continues to grow in popularity so rapidly. Besides, by charging money, Microsoft is able to spend more to better what they offer. Not that they're exactly short of cash or anything. haha

I agree, however, that no matter how you spin in it, it'd be better not having to fork out additional cash after having invested in the console and game.

Here's my view on it.

Xbox 360 Pro's and Con's

Pro's
Best Game Selection

More Ergonomic Controller

Better Connectivity

Better Online Features

Con's
Noisy Console

Possible Hardware Issues

Supposedly Lower-Quality Graphics than PS3's

Pay for Online

A few Xbox games unplayable, but that's just because nobody bought those games in the first place.

PS3 Pro's and Con's

Pro's
MGS4

Blu-Ray Player

MGS4

Supposedly Better Graphics

MGS4

Free Online

Did I mention MGS4? :O

Con's
Little worth playing (to me) beyond MGS4

Also has reported hardware issues

Crappy Connectivity

Controller that feels like some cheap plastic toy from the dollar store with no rumble and really awkward triggers that throw the whole PS2 look and feel of it out the window (Six-Axis)

Expensive Price Tag

On most models, no backwards compatibility whatsoever

---------

My only choice as a gamer, is the 360. If I were into buying every DVD I own all over again IN ADDITION TO shelling out $600 for a PS3 just so I can see them in a slightly higher quality than my upconverting DVD player provides and if I practically wanted to have gay sex with an aging Snake, I would go with PS3. However, being a person underneath option number 1, a gamer, 360 is it. Especially as an RPG gamer, the PS3 honestly gives you no choice... With Oblivion, Tales of Vesperia, Eternal Sonata, Blue Dragon, Lost Odyssey, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Fable 2, Infinite Undiscovery, FFXIII, and numerous other RPGs on it (not counting for exclusivity, mind you, but volumes of RPGs) this is the one and only console for Role-playing Gamers.

Not to mention, I've played both consoles a bit myself. PS3's Six-axis controls are a horrid mess... I often found myself playing Devil May Cry 4 on the PS3 expecting my controller to shatter into fifty million pieces because it was way too lightweight. Not only that, but trying to get a comfortable grip on the thing was hell with those poorly-made triggers they slapped on it. Give me the ability to use my Dual-Shock 2 again anytime now, Sony.

Also, having played games on both consoles, I see little to no difference in graphic quality. It could just be that the PS3 has nothing really pushing it to its limits... I even watched someone play MGS 4 and found myself thinking that the graphic quality was just a bit above Assassin's Creed, which looked about the same for both PS3 and 360.

And the selection of games, as I said, is just horrid... I can't speak from a multiplayer standpoint on either system, as I am primarily a singleplayer gamer who just co-ops with friends from time to time when they're over. And yet, still, the 360 is a winner here because of all the great singleplayer and co-op titles.

------------------------------------

On another note... One thing that I find most commonplace with people who debate about consoles is the proponents for PS3 typically just don't buy the 360 because it was created by Microsoft. Well, I think this argument is just total and utter shit, if you would excuse my French. Basically, you're admitting to throwing away several hundred dollars at one company for a Movie Player with a few games because you feel the company that made the other, cheaper console with a better game selection is money-hungry.

One of my closest friends thinks this way, casting off all games on the 360 as crap merely because he hates Microsoft and concocting lies to make his choice seem valid. (i.e., '360's not making enough money for Microsoft for them to be able to continue production, so, say goodbye to the Xbox 360') And he says these things when I never even intend to bring up a discussion about games or consoles, he just spouts it out because he seems pissed that I bought a 360.

To be quite honest, you should buy a console because you like the games and features, not because you don't feel right shoveling less money to a 'money-hungry company'. If you prefer the PS3 honestly because you like the features, that's great! I will not argue with you because it is your preferences, not mine, and I hope you enjoy it.

you can play the both ffxiii and remake of ffvii on ps3

i know it's in high price but worth to buy

i have xbox 360 and i call a box full of errors and in the winter you don't have 2 buy a heater buy xbox 360

believe me ps3 is the most powerful gaming system

They've recently added a "Trophy" system update to the PS3 console, which is similar to the achievments of the Xbox 360. At the moment, however, only a few games are new enough to use it, and currently I have none that do.

My views. I have recently purchased a PS3. Yes I knew it was costly, and probably wouldn't be worth it, but at the end of the day I am loyal to Sony, and many games that may come out that I like will likely be on the PS3 (ie, the majority of FF games, Crash Bandicoot series etc, even if the CB series is going downhill...).

Anyway I purchased a PS3, now at first I was realy annoyed when it arrived. Firstly I discovered that it was not backwards compatible with the PS2. Now whether they would have backwards compatibility was confusing to me as, while some stores were saying there was none at all, others were telling me that there was. I came home and did some research and found a website telling you which games can work on a PS3 for PS1 AND PS2.. When my PS3 arrived I quickly discovered that it was an american website, and that their version of the same version of PS3 that I ordered did have backwards compatibility. My console however is backwards compatible for PS1, but you have to create an internal memory card and effectively start new game for each PS1 game you own. To rub it in, my console left in the feature to create a PS2 internal memory card also... But it warned you in the manual that there was no point as you can't play PS2 games! I feel this is bad on Sony's part. It's not being fair to their most loyal customers.

Secondly, my wireless online did not work because I have a Netgear wireless router, and while my router and my PS3 could see each other, they weren't making the vital "hello, how do you do?" communication enabling me to access online. I fixed this eventually after a week and was able to log into online. From then on I have loved it. I don't think online is realy that bad on the PS3. I haven't noticed much difference to the Xbox Live to be honest, which I play when at freinds houses. I think the freind system works well, is easy to access. I think the menu looks great, and again, is easy to access and navigate. On the whole I think it is a great console, even if it is very expensive.

Also.. It hosts one of the most addictive downloadable games I've played on a Next Gen console.. Super Rub a Dub! If you own a PS3, download the free trial, now!

Hmmm? Can you link me to a place where a remake of FFVII is actually CONFIRMED? Besides, I would never call two games worth a $600 purchase before they are even released. And if the 360 is REALLY so bad, how come mine doesn't overheat, and hasn't had errors despite the fact that I constantly play it even more than my PS2 nowadays?

Finally, I never denied that the PS3 is the most powerful system. Honestly, I love the PS3's potential... It's just very sad it doesn't come with a much lower price tag and a much better selection of games and backwards compatibility all at once, or I'd have bought it just like my beloved PS2 and be playing the hell out of it... But... It seems the mid-range console of any generation will always have the better game selection...

The 360 is this generation's PSone/PS2.

No, in fact, I play my own games that I buy or games I rent. And I don't really see where copied games comes in, as I've never really seen it as a lucrative venture to begin with. Also, I wouldn't buy a console for something I could already do with my PC unless it's a question of space, as my PC is running out of harddrive space. This, in itself, is the reason I'll be buying Fallout 3 for 360.

From what I've heard, most of the 360's have broken down or something.

But I'd go for PS3, mainly because I'm more a Sony person then Microsoft. My whole life has been around Play Station. So most of the games I've known and loved are on Play Station. I don't know many games on Xbox. Just like Spyro, Crash, (Most) Final Fantasy's, DMC and MSG.

*walks up to Tony Montana and thumps head*

Could've had a V8.

I believe I've covered the whole 'just preferring Sony over Microsoft' deal. It's stupid to throw extra money at a company because they're 'not money-hungry'. And really, how can you not have heard of any 360 titles unless you just been ignoring the console altogether out of bias? As there are a lot of good ones for any sort of gamer. I merely pointed out RPG's because I'm more of that type.

As for 360 breakdowns, there's actually REALLY simple methods to fix it. A lot of people are just too lazy to fix it. I know one, infact, that fixes the problem of the ring of death and has so far had no cases of anyone who used it having their console brick again. Also, if it's as common as people say, mine should have definitely broken down by now, with how much I play games on it. I play it VERY often, Several hours straight if it's one of my RPGs. I'm starting to think the people who had problems with the 360 are just retards who bumped into it or dropped it too much.

Not that I'm trying to be mean, I don't like Microsoft either. I just looked at both consoles objectively from the way I game and saw PS3 as just a glorified HD movie-player that I did NOT need or want.

I own both consoles and you should definitely get the Xbox 360 because I've notice more and more RPG's are going to be released on that consoles.

Plus, Final Fantasy XIII will be released on the 360 and of course the PS3. If I were you I'd go buy the 360 because the online is alot orginazined and better compared to the PS3.
