Ever pulled an all-nighter before doing something for school, work, or other reasons?

I've had to do one because I broke this cardboard chair I was working and had to take the rest of the night to start over again. Needless to say, it's interesting to figure out that your body just eventually give up on being tired at some point and you feel just fine. I think I went 38+ hours without sleep and it was really bad because I had to drive the 40 miles to and from school that day as well.

ive pulled afew, for no good reason as well (insomnia dont count) then id just be like. Im so tired. FML. Falling asleep at my desk at workshit like that, it's just painful

i remember when i was younger and we'd try to pull allnighters, get to about 6am, close your eyes for a second and be out like a light haha

yeah, i first experienced these at camp, where kids would sneak out of their tents to go drink in the field and such. counselors walked around to prevent this and only went to bed till about 1am-2am, so all the older experienced kids were smart enough to just stay up till then, and sneak out then, and then just stay up the whole night. it's a weird feeling when you start to see the sun come up.
as for the lack of sleepiness, I get that too, a lot of the times if im lying in bed at 3am unable to sleep, i get out of bed and decide to pull an all nighter, and it's usually only between like, 7am-12 that you feel tired, then during the day you feel normal :)
I wouldn't recommend doing this for school related stuff unless truly necessary though, cause if your just sitting by your desk for hours, you can get really tired, really fast, and that doesn't look good on you if your falling asleep at your desk / you miss important lessons

I'm predicting a fair amount of them this year, with having my dissertation to write (not to mention the fact that I haven't even opened a book on the subject over the Summer, like I had planned). I'll probably take the work load really slowly around November/December and then realise when it gets to the New Year that I've got a painful amount of work to do and painfully little time to do it in.

There've been a couple of instances in the past of doing an all nighter on drink and then having to go to work in the morning. It's all good until about 1 o'clock when sober up and start to feel like I'm at death's door. Funny thing is I always feel fine when I get out of work again. :hmmm:

I can't say that I have in recent memory.

The only big obvious reasons why I would pull off an all-nighter would be if I want to frantically revise for an exam the next morning or if there is some crucial work that I need to finish off for the following day.

Fortunately I've never had to do that. When it comes to revision, I would just stop at about 9pm if the exam is on the following morning and then relax, shove the papers aside, and enjoy myself before getting some sufficient amounts of sleep while hoping for the best. It's no good trying to do an all-night revision session because I just would not be able to take anything in. The fact that I would be exhausted by the morning could mean little energy during the exam which could also negatively affect concentration and performance.

Furthermore, if there is ever a necessity for me to do an all-nighter to study, I would clearly have to tell myself to get my priorities straight next time.

I pulled an all nighter last night lol.

Was out from 5:30pm Thursday to 4:30am Friday morning. >.<

Unintentionally though. >.<

But back in the day I would pull a few all nighters for no other reason then sitting up late on the computer and would only get a couple of hours sleep if any before going to school the next day.

Always fell asleep in class. XD

There was the odd occasion in which I would stay up and study till the early hours of the morning for an exam, but then I was too tired to concentrate on the exam. =/

You're body does get to a certain point though when it gets to the point in which it stops being tired and you just feel numb. You're not sleepy or completely awake.

Very strange how it works. >.<

I've only ever pulled 2 all-nighters in my life and they were horrible experiences.

1 was when I first got heavy rain and I was a saddo and wanted to finish it and I ended up playing all night.

The other time was kind of recent, I just couldn't sleep, I was in a terrible mood and I just didn't want to go to bed so I stayed up all night and then felt like utter crap by the time morning rolled round.

I will never do it again :mokken:

I've pulled a few all nighters in my life time. I remember the first one was when I was about 13 and at my friend's place it was great fun, the next day we went to see finding Nemo and I fell asleep in the cinema (the only time I have ever done so).

Another was when me and some friends stayed up 48 hours playing games by the end of it I was drifting off during the loading screens. I ended up sleeping for 24 hours after that. One of my friends fell asleep in the gutter outside my house waiting for his parents to pick him up.

The most recent one I can think of was when I was 18 and I did it to fix my sleeping pattern. For several weeks I was going to sleep at 6am so I figured I'd do an all nighter to exhaust myself so I could go to sleep at a normal time...it worked.

I have had a few more but I haven't had one for a while. I've never pulled an all nighter for the purpose of working on something though. Simply because I can't work when I'm tired.

Edit: Actually the most recent one's I've done were for the world cup back in 2010. A lot of the matches I wanted to watch started at about 4am, so yeah..

I've only pulled two in my entire life and never to work but instead to have an adventure. :lew: I was about 10 years old and believed that those who were older did it all the time. :wacky: I remember being SO bored - this was in the days before my house had internet and I spent the entire time struggling to play 102 dalmatians on my GBC, using a small torch.

The next day, I was utterly exhausted. I tried so hard to stay awake all day and fell asleep in my mum's car. The last thing I remember before that is struggling to prevent my eyes from drooping.

I can't remember why I stayed up the 2nd time - I think my friend and I made necklaces for half the night - but I remember falling asleep in front of Mulan, at the beginning of the movie, and waking up when the credits were rolling.

Nowadays, I feel exhausted between 10 and 12 on average evening, so staying up 'til 2 is a push! I tend to wake up between 7:30 and 8:30 as I'm sensitive to light, sound and hunger, which means it's very hard to catch up when I haven't gone to sleep early enough.

All the time. I always feel much worse when I have to wake up early than I do when I've been up all night. The only reason I stay up all night anymore is to get uni work done. I pretty much always stay up all night writing one that's due the next day. Whenever I do that I get about 4 cans of Red Bull and keep drinking cups of coffee, I don't get noticeably tired until I've stopped drinking things with caffeine in it.
The last time I stayed up all night was by accident. It was starting to become Summer so it was getting hot and I couldn't sleep. Unfortunately I had an exam in the morning, I did quite well, but I did make at least one small mistake.

I pulled one a couple of weeks ago. Just for fun, nothing too serious. I made it almost all the way till 5 in the morning and then just collapsed on the sofa.

Lol, what fail.
-_-

Work, constantly. You will notice I have irritable moods some days, and some days I'm peachy. I work hard for the dollar though.

I did it once. I was recent too. I was studying for the SAT. I stayed up till 6 in the morning. Let me tell you.....it was batshit horrible. I was so irritable and hungry :Sad3:
I will never do this purposefully again.

I've done it too often for both of my classes, i've been doing my assignments at the very last minute every time. I stay up for however long until they get done and by the time i finish there's no time for me to sleep because class starts a few hours later. It's not pleasant whatsoever but i can see it happening more when i get my career, not that i want it to happen anyway.

Back in high school, I used to pull them at least 2 times a week. The following Summer, almost every day. :damon:
But now that I am in college and have a really tight schedule that I have to live by, I can't risk losing any good sleep. :hmmm: Since the days I do go to school last for at least 4 hours .

All nighters used to be my normal lifestyle. :ohshit:

I would stay up all night and work in the morning or go somewhere without sleep.

Throughout the day and on the way home later, it would be a struggle to stay awake, sometimes.

Not a good feeling.

Thankfully, I don't procrastinate anymore & its no longer an issue. :ohshit:

I have never pulled one because I always end up deciding it's too difficult to stay awake and just go to bed. Or I just fall asleep. The closest I ever came was when I stayed up till 7am a few times playing MGS4. I decided not to pull an all-nighter those nights because it was getting too difficult to pay attention to the 40+ minute cutscenes. When it comes to study and assignments, I always find that I would have been more productive going to bed and doing them early the next day rather than tired late at night.

During the summer of 2010 I believe was when I would stay up all night until about 7am. I would sleep until about 2pm. This cycle would last a month and boy,was it fun! I was always on the computer during my all nighters, particularly Amazon. Welp I know for sure that when I finally crashed, the sun was fully up already
