Now, I know there are quite a few versions of Final Fantasy out there, here I am concentrating on Final Fantasy IV, V, and VI - now, most versions are your generic Final Fantasy (SNES, PS, etc), but there is a version wiith improved graphics, sound, mapping, setup, etc - I'm talking about the DS version. Final Fantasy got a touchup with these three reboots. I heard on a different forum that the reboots (with improved graphics sound, mind you) are not worth the money when played on the PC. People have said that the console converstion was a waste. I enjoyed the DS version, but I am wondering if I should get the DS version on my PC. Thoughts, anyone?

I think if you want the best:

...you go with the DS versions. I played FFIV, FFV, and FFVI on the Playstation 1 in the Chronicles and Anthology compilations, but all of the 3 characteristics I just pointed out were not as good compared to what's available today.

If I did not own the PS1 versions of those 3 games, I would go with the DS edition for most enjoyable gameplay. I'm mainly a console gamer, and not a huge handheld fan, but I would choose it in this situation.

I personally could not stand the DS version of FFIV, and I would try to keep the 2D version on whatever you want if possible. but this was personal taste, I hated how FFIV felt on the DS, from the voices to the overall gameplay. however there are others that loved the DS version, so I guess this comes down to whatever you wanna try.

In all honesty, I am trying to get a feel for what Final Fantasy gaming version people are into. My ultimate goal is to see if Final Fantasy (the DS version) would work on a PC. I was looking at parts III, IV, V, VI, and VII on Steampowered.com, and if it's worth buying.
