Racism for Children

IDK if anyone has ever pointed this out in Pokemon Black/White version... But I would like to address it now...

Pokemon Black version (ONLY):

Notice how it's brown in color and the cotton on it? Americans used to make black slaves pick cotton...

Pokemon White version (ONLY):

Looks a bit like a high class slave owner, right?

Racism in videogames aimed at children... Are their others? What are your thought on this?

Personally, it doesnt seem like a coinkydink considering Black Version has a black stereotype... and White Version has a white stereotype...

I dont think so and even so i think it wasnt intentional, but funny that you came to that conclusion (About the cotton and stuf, the black Pokemon is pretty obvious).

I think the most racist pokemon so far is her:

After all you could be right but so far they are guilty on stereotypes taken to extreme.

This article is worth reading:

RE5 took place in Africa, so that's pretty understandable(Besides when there were white zombies nobody complained). I can't really think of any games to use in place of this one though. I imagine game developers would want to try to stay away from controversy. I feel as long as it wasn't intended there's really no point for me to get worked up about it.

Thank you!! We've been shooting white zombies to pieces for 4 games and now suddenly because we're shooting only black zombies in AFRICA it's racist? Let's also just conveniently forget your very black companion who is ALSO shooting black zombies? FFS...

I'm sorry. But when you asked if that thing looked like a high class slave owner, I literally burst out laughing at my computer screen.

I think it looks like a wee shitey flowery animu pokebastard.

But maybe that's just me. I don't think games are subliminally making me a rascWHITEPEOPLEARETHEBEST

You DONT see the controversial racism in making a black version pokemon the color of a black man and then putting cotton on it?

Please tell me why you think this...

I think the mere mention of what probably is not true when it comes to racism drives political correctness haywire.

For example, there was a county in which the police used black targets at the shooting range. Someone made some extraordinary accusation that it was racist, and they changed the targets to blue.
Now, when I say black targets, I mean literally a piece of paper with the rough outline of a human shape in solid black.

Absolutely stupid, and yet shockingly, it was made a deal of. This is how ridiculous society has gotten. Therefore, I have no love for these sort of discussions.

To be fair, it wouldn't be the first time that a racial controversy was sparked in Pokemon. Look at Jynx, Americans had to change it to purple to prevent people from making a huge deal about it, even though Jynx isn't associated with black people at all.

...Honestly, I doubt that nintendo or GameFreak really intended anything like that. You can find stereotyping in most games if you really look hard enough.

But, I can see the connection that you're making, but I just don't think they'd try put this into a game aimed at children...

There are even people who protest against Pokemon because it 'encourages animal cruelty'.

I started a pit bull fighting ring because of Pokemon.
*said nobody, ever*

People will try to find something wrong with just about anything. Notice there is not one single thing on this entire planet which every person finds okay. You name it, there is a hater somewhere. It could be anything from Pokemon to a rock.

The only people who had a problem with it were PETA as far as I'm aware and the rabid animal lovers. PETA are also the same people that tried to say that Mario games promoted animal abuse because one of his costumes was a raccoon suit, and they tried to discourage meat by making their own Super Tofu Boy, but this is off topic.

But even so, I doubt that Japan would intentionally imply racism in a child's game... It's only the western countries that have made a huge deal out of it. Anything that appears to be racist in a game like Pokemon is pure coincidence.

we like to see patterns.

sometimes the sorts of patterns we like to see are indicative of the type of person we are.

therefore you must be a racist.

now you :toni:
